OPI Nicki Minaj Did It On 'Em

Happy New Years' Eve! no post yesterday... ending up visiting family until midnight... then still had to drive two and a half hours home... luckily, my husband drove so i got to sleep the whole way!

today is the final polish from the OPI Nicki Minaj collection, Did It On 'Em. it's yellowey limey cream and is very similar the OPI's Who The Shrek Are You? that came out with... surprise, surprise... the Shrek collection from a couple years ago. the swatch has them both on alternating fingers. if you like greens, i would say go ahead and get it. i'm glad i have both... but they are SUPER similar. Did It On 'Em is the same tone as Shrek, but a couple shades lighter. the formula is not so great, still looked patchy at three coats, but a coat of Seche Vite evened it out. it was, however, super shiny without the topcoat!

and now, the swatch!

be safe tonight! sleep over, call a cab... driving drunk is a horrible choice... even though you are 'FINE TO DRIVE!'. most of us have made unwise decisions to drive when we've been... over served. it's not worth your life or someone else's! here's to 2012 being a MUCH better year than 2011! Ria :)

OPI Nicki Minaj Fly under OPI Save Me

hi! can't believe it's already Thursday, my husband had off this week and it has just flown by... so i have OPI Nicki Minaj Fly! haha... sorry, i had to! lame lame lame, i know! :) i layered it with OPI Save Me, also from the Minaj collection.

Fly is like nothing else i have in my collection, it's an awesome bluey teal cream. it was ridiculous to get the true color to photograph, this is as close as i could get. in real life, it's a shade or so darker and leans more teal. formula wasn't that great, i used four coats,  but i probably could have gotten away with three. i'm really psychotic about not being able to see nail lines, i also like my nails to look a little thick because *sadly* i have really thin nails that are prone to peel and break. on top i used one coat of Seche Vite.

i was a little disappointed with Save Me. i was hoping it would be like OPI Servin' Up Sparkle which has round holographic glitter in varying sizes. i tried to build it up to opaque on its own... and i eventually got there, but i have no idea how many coats it took. HUGE waste of the polish, had to get a backup because i'd used so much! layering a couple coats of Servin' over a silver metallic gives the same effect without all the coats. Save Me has holo bar glitter but it's base is tiny silver round glitter... i think this could easily be built up to be opaque on its own... but the wow factor of the holo is missing. the bars also wanted to hang off the tips of my nails, which was frustrating because i had to smush them back onto the nail. if anyone wants to see a comparison of Save Me and Servin' Up Sparkle, let me know! this is one coat over Fly and topped off with one coat of Seche Vite.

overall, i do think these colors are worth getting, i really haven't seen anything like either of these from OPI in years. Fly is definitely a jaw dropper!

OPI Nicki Minaj Pink Friday under OPI Super Bass Shatter

hey, everyone! today i have the next installment of the Nicki Minaj collection... Pink Friday and Super Bass Shatter. unlike all the previous OPI shatter releases, this purple shatter has a cutsie name instead of just calling it by the color combined with shatter, ie, black shatter. honestly, i prefer the ones simply named by their color... makes it much easier to remember which ones you have... at least for me!

Pink Friday is a bubblegummy Pepto Bismol pink. it's not very original, but it's also not a total dupe for anything in my collection. i used three coats to make everything even out completely, but it's thin and dries quickly so three coats is not a problem.

excuse the cuticle boo boos... i'm still not used to how close up and clear my new camera shoots. even things i didn't really notice in person jump out and slap you in the face in the photos! this is three coats topped with two coats of Seche Vite.

speaking of Pepto... i just had to add in a shot with the bottle... perfect match!

here's Super Bass Shatter. excellent formula, it even allowed me to go over bald spots again and still crackle nicely. it's a shimmery grape color... more like a grape lollipop than an actual grape. not sure how well it would show up over a darker color, my guess is that it would be sheer, just like Pink Shatter. i really HATE purple and pink together, but i LOVE this combo! it is so gorgeous and fun in person. i will definitely be rocking this again, i was actually disappointed to take it off, which is rare because after one day i usually am bored with the current color. this is one coat layered over Pink Friday and topped with one coat of Seche Vite.

thanks for reading! if you like what you've seen so far, please spread my link around :) Ria

OPI Nicki Minaj Metallic 4 Life under OPI Pink Shatter

hey, everyone! happy Tuesday! for my first post i'm going to be using OPI Metallic 4 Life from the Nicki Minaj collection. for some reason a store i live near gets the new collections a month to two months before the slated release date... this of course makes me SO HAPPY! i'm also going to use the OPI Pink Shatter released earlier in 2011. my favorite colors are greY (yup, that's how i always write it) and pink.... so it only makes sense that my first post uses those colors :)

on to the polish!

Metallic 4 Life is a delicious glitter composed of a black jelly base and varying sizes of silver glitter. the effect is a stunning, steely, sparkly polish that is easily my favorite dark greY i own, beating out all other finishes! loved the formula, this is two coats with two coat of Seche Vite on top. some of the OTT pictures showed bald spots, but i only saw one in person, and that was with really looking and turning my nails to different angles!

the top photo was taken in incandescent light to show the different glitters and the bottom one under an OTT light to show the sparkly awesomeness!

the Pink Shatter was a huge disappointment for me. i was so excited for it to be released... then it was a major buzz kill to find out it is SO sheer! it actually photographs far more opaque than it actually looks in person. this is one coat over Metallic 4 Life and topped with one coat of Seche Vite.

i know most people are wayyyyy over crackle polishes... but i just can't get enough! a purple shatter is included in the Minaj collection, that will be my next post!

hope you enjoyed this first bloggie post! :) Ria
