Revlon Whimsical

oh my gosh! line dancing was so much fun! i, of course, had no idea what i was doing but i've never let that stop me. i felt a little bad because i think i annoyed the people who really knew what they were doing by stumbling around. i got frustrated a bit because i hate not being good at something... i somehow feel that i should be able to walk onto the floor and instantly be able to do all the fancy footwork and the tricks (i LOVE tricks, i'm a bit of a showoff, i confess!)... i'm going to get it, though! i think we're heading over there this week because they have dance lessons in the early evening... my husband might even try that. he's much more concerned with looking silly than i am! i feel like SUCH a dweeb, all the bouncing around gave me a little asthma attack, so next time i will arrive with my inhaler. that is possibly the most geeky thing i've ever had to do :)

today's polish is all over the nail world... meet Revlon Whimsical! it's a super sheer milky baby blue with large pieces of blue and pink hex glitter and tiny round iridescent blueish/greenish glitter. i think it is a bit over hyped, but i do like it. i've been seeing this polish pop up on so many ladies' blogs, it quickly became something i was slobbering over!  like most people, every store i checked either didn't carry it or the slot was empty... until Rite Aid! i found one bottle, so obviously i picked it up, even though their prices run much higher than places like Walmart... it was worth it :) i layered Whimsical over an opaque white to see what it would look like that way, i've only seen it by itself and layered over different blues. if you want it to look like it does in the bottle, buy a base color that matches it... it would take loads of coats over white to get the manicure to bottle color.

Whimsical is considered a dupe to Deborah Lippmann Glitter In The Air... i don't have that one, though, $17 is a bit too spendy for one polish... especially one that i wouldn't be using all the time! check out Fab Fatale's comparison here!

please check out MariJo's Whimsical pairing here... i actually much prefer her mani of layering Whimsical over a light purple!

in my manicure, Whimsical is a light, light blue... with the blue and pink glitter, all i can think of is cupcakes! i admit it, sometimes i still like to have Funfetti cakes... who's with me?? :) after adding the Seche Vite, Whimsical shrunk a bit, leaving the polish at the base and tips of my nails looking slightly more white. it definitely is not noticeable, though! if you look closely at the swatchie, you can see the iridescent glitter next to where the shine reflection is. it's a fun mani that's not too in your face, if you hate for your nails to arrive in a room before you do, try this look out!

three coats of Whimsical over opaque white, finished with one coat Seche Vite.

i'm looking forward to trying Whimsical over different shades of blue! how many of you have found yourselves madly searching for this polish? if you're still on the hunt, i hope you get your hands on it soon!! Ria :)
