Sation Royal Violet

i have no idea what was running through my dog Jewels's mind today... when she ate potting soil! i couldn't believe it... i had to chase her away from it multiple times. that is not something i've ever had a problem with dogs eating before... but there's a first time for everything, i guess. bizarre, right?

today's polish is Sation Royal Violet! it's a purple frost that is really more lavender than violet, in my opinion... it's much too light to be a true violet! this is a beautiful color with some shimmer, but there are some visible brushstrokes. this isn't a deal breaker for me, but i do like frost finishes! i feel like they seem to glow :) the formula is pretty good, i used two coats for full opacity, but i think the mani might look even better with a third coat.

two coats Royal Violet, one coat Poshe Topcoat.

Sation polish can be found at their website and select Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Winners stores!

we're getting ready to watch the season premiere of my husband's favorite show, The Mentalist! i'm excited to watch the Real Housewives of New Jersey Reunion on Tivo tomorrow. what Fall shows are you guys excited about? Ria :)

Sation Coral Pink

today was super fun, i've been looking forward to it for weeks! we went to the Gem Show at the Monterey Fairgrounds, and it turned out to be much more of an actual gem and mineral show than any i've been to before. i was in Heaven, because i just love rocks :) one guy had a whole long table full of tumbled rocks at $1 per gram... or ounce? whichever's bigger! so, i picked out some of those, and my mom picked a couple of the shards to make pendants with. it was fun to be around other people who also (clearly!) really dug (sorry, i had to!) rocks :D

today's polish is Sation Coral Pink! it's a saturated warm pink pearl, with ever so slight shimmer. you can just barely see some brushstrokes, but it's very good for a polish with this finish! i used 2-3 coats for full opacity, it's going to depend on how white the tips of your nails are to decide how much you'll need. i would definitely add a topcoat to finish it off with that extra bit of shine!

2-3 coats Coral Pink, one coat Poshe Topcoat.

this is a bright, fun color that will help you think warm as we move into Fall!

Sation polish can be found at their website and select Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Winners stores!

hope you're all having a great weekend! Ria :)

Coterie Butter London Haulage!

i've been going back and forth on whether i want to just go ahead and dye my hair at home since i'm only going to put in one color for the time being... and i think i've settled on going to a salon. i was looking at my shower today and that's just a horrible place to try and rinse out dye... and the sink would be a major mess. plus, i haven't dyed it myself since i got dye on my neck and gave myself a chemical burn trying to take it off (be careful mixing chemicals!!). so, i guess it's worth the money to me to have someone else just go ahead and do it... but, who knows, i may change my mind again :)

today i just wanted to share the six polishes and two topcoats i got from the Coterie Butter London sale! it came in two shipments, but the final one came yesterday... i am super excited! i'm so happy to have Wallis back in my grubby paws, it's just gorgeous... review on that will definitely be up soon. the order came nicely packed in bubble wrapped and then wrapped with black tissue paper... i love extra touches like that! the card the polishes are around came in both packages.

without further ado... here they are!

i would certainly order from Coterie again, i am one satisfied customer! i think i said Happy Friday yesterday... that's what i get for working late at night! so... for real this time, Happy Friday! Ria :)

Sation "I Love Miss-self" Reality Show Collection

i got an exciting email from Sation yesterday announcing the release of their "I Love Miss-self" Reality Show collection! it takes its inspiration from the reality television craze and includes lots of flash and sparkle. there will be 24 new glitters with lots of different styles... including flakies!

these two promo pictures are pretty exciting...

i love this quote direct from the press release... 'Sation’s glittery gala puts the fun in dysfunctional by saying buh-bye to Brady Bunch banter, and hello to hi-def hair-pulling and backstage drama.' that definitely sounds like some glitter i need to get my paws on!

the best news is these should be live on on Friday, September 28, 2012!

Happy Friday! Ria :)

Butter London Slapper

today was such an awesome day of horseback riding... instead of practicing by myself i was in the regular lesson... and i did a pretty good job of keeping up! we mostly did exercises while trotting to teach you to get in better rhythm with the horse... it was pretty tough, but so helpful. and the big news... i got to go over my first jumps :D

today's polish is Butter London Slapper, one of the Butters i picked up at Ulta's sale. it's a stunning bright teal creme with an awesome formula, two super easy for full, shiny opacity! the brush is also easy to work with, so the whole polishing experience is perfect. the only problem with this polish is getting its color to show up accurately in a photo! i was hoping it wasn't just me so i searched around online... and it seems most people had the same issue. i adjusted the color a bit in editting, but it's still a polish you want to see in person, it's beautiful!

two coats Slapper, one coat Poshe Topcoat.

the color is even more vibrant and saturated than my picture can show! sorry my skin looks so orange... that's from the editting to make the polish look more true to life.

hope you guys had a great day, too! Ria :)

OPI Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue

Mama Pawlish and i were out running errands today and stopped to eat at one of our fave restaurants, the Bellagio. imagine how shocked we were to find it had gone out of business! i'm so bummed :( i've had that happen before, actually... Mr. Pawlish and i were headed to my favorite BBQ place... only to find it had turned into a Taco Loco! talk about a buzz kill! we ate at Round Table Pizza instead... can't say i was super impressed. it was okay, but not great. so, i will still dream of an eat-in Pizza Hut!i

today's polish is the last up from the OPI Germany collection, Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue. i think they went way overboard with the - this time! seems like every polish had a hyphen. other than it's annoying name, it's a lovely polish! i'm of course prejudiced towards it anyway since blue is my fave nail color, but this is a really nice, deep warm blue pearl with a subtle shimmer. it reminds me of one my absolutely favorite polishes, OPI Swimsuit... Nailed It!, which i haven't reviewed yet... need to get on that! this one is a bit darker and far less shimmery than Swimsuit, though. the formula is great, two easy coats for full opacity... like basically every polish in this collection! my only complaint is that while it doesn't show every brushstroke, it does show some big wobbly ones... so take care in application! and definitely add topcoat for shine :)

two coats Blue, one coat Seche Vite.

this polish does have a stronger teal undertone than my camera wanted to capture...which means it's even more pretty than my swatchie would have you think :D

while the Germany collection wasn't groundbreaking by any stretch, it's full of solid, beautiful polishes! did you guys pick up any of these? what did you think? Ria :)

OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest

Mama Pawlish made an amazing dinner tonight of chicken, zucchini, and stuffing (or dressing, depending on where you live!). it was so good! i never think about having things like stuffing when it's not a holiday... but i don't know why not. it's one of my favorite foods, it should definitely not be limited to twice a year :D

today's polish is the crown jewel of the OPI Germany collection, Every Month Is Oktoberfest. in the bottle it looks alarmingly like German-icure By OPI, i actually at first thought i had been sent two of the same polish! (i'm so glad it was right, i hate dealing with the private sellers on Amazon when something goes wrong!) Every Month has the same red shimmers, but where German-icure has a chocolate brown base, Every Month is a deep purple. it is absolutely stunning, chic for every occasion. this is a perfect Fall color... this whole collection has been really great with bringing out seasonal colors! the formula on Every Month is great, two easy coats for full opacity! i would add an extra coat of topcoat to really make your nails look like glass and bring out all of the shimmers in the polish.

two coats Every Month, two coats Seche Vite.

i'm thinking tomorrow is going to be my oh so dreaded, grocery shopping day. *le sigh* Happy Monday! Ria :)

OPI Danke-Shiny Red

Mr. Pawlish and i started watching Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman today... man, that show is a lot more intense than i remembered it being as a kid! it is really amazing, though. i bought the show so long ago, i'm glad we're finally starting to watch it. i love having the complete show to watch, having tv shows available now is the best!

today we have OPI Danke-Shiny Red from their 2012 Germany collection. it's a really lovely shimmery red that would be perfect for Christmas... or anytime you're looking for a great red! it's definitely a fun color, super saturated with cool undertones... i think it's a true candy apple red :) you can see slight brushstrokes, but you really have to look for them! the formula is great, two easy coats for full opacity.

two coats Danke, one coat Seche Vite.

i just watched the season finale to Real Housewives of New Jersey. :O is all i can say! do you guys watch any of the Housewives?? let me know so we can dish! Ria :)

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Ring-a-Ding

Mr. Pawlish and i are hanging out watching Mythbusters and just relaxing. his new semester starts up on Monday, so he's having super chill weekend :) poor guy has really hard math classes this time... blegh! i'm definitely not a math girl, just glancing at the questions he has to answer is about enough to send me screaming from the room :D

today's polish is Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Ring-a-Ding. i thought it would look perfect over OPI Schnapps Out Of It!, and it does! it's a large hex glitter suspended in a clear base. it has three metallic colors... bronze, gold, and pink. it gives the effect of being multi-toned gold jewelry, so pretty! the formula is okay, i like that it is made to be a true topcoat (it would be really difficult to build this up to full opacity!). the glitter does tend to want to stick together, so you will probably have to push and pat it a little to get it where you want it... but it's not the worst i've ever used! i definitely recommend putting a sealing topcoat over it, as the glitter is pretty scratchy. i used, as usual, Seche Vite!

i hope you are all having a fantastic weekend! Ria :)

OPI Schnapps Out Of It!

went out to the mall today because i had coupons for free things from Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works... i love free :) and it worked, because i spent extra money at both places... and we all know that the real draw for companies to give away anything for 'free'! i got a really cute PocketBac holder that looks like a yellow lab from BBW... i debated on whether or not to get it because it's a little cartoonish for me... but, i went for it! their PocketBac (waterless soap) is my constant companion, it's such an amazing invention. Midnight Pomegranate is my fave smell by far... what yours?

today's OPI 2012 Germany collection polish is Schnapps Out Of It!. it's a dusty mauve creme that morphs in different lighting between a terracotta and a rose color. it's certainly a more traditional nail polish color, but it has a super subtle shimmer that runs through it to add some depth. it's not very noticeable, though, unless you are really looking for it! the formula is awesome, two easy coats for full opacity... like the rest of this collection! it dries shiny on its own, but adding a topcoat makes it look a bit more luxurious.

two coats Schnapps, one coat Seche Vite.

i can't believe how fast this week has flown by... that's how it always goes, though. the weeks you want to linger zip by... and the ones you wish would go away drag on and on! here's to a fantastic weekend! Ria :)

Thursday Haulageday!

had my first full hour long facial today, i have to say it's very relaxing! we'll have to see how my skin does over the next few weeks to see if it's worth another $65 to start getting them on a regular basis. right now i'm leaning towards no... but i was a bit disappointed that the girl who did mine didn't do enough pore extraction. it wasn't the girl who did my last one and who i had thought would be doing this one... but i'm going to give it some time. i have noticed that my face has been less oily today than it usually is!

since i was over at Ulta, of course i had to hit all the shops over there for polish! i'll just show you the polishes i got, but i also picked up one of the pump liquid bottles to use with my acetone... it will make stamping so much easier :) let's get to it!

from Sally's i picked up another one from China Glaze's Bohemian line, i think i now have them all except for the Chanel Peridot dupe... i resisted as long as i could, but i saw some swatchies and i just had to have it after all :D i also picked up a Poshe Topcoat (i've never tried it before!) so i can compare it to Seche Vite!

at Ulta i swapped out my Butter London Wallis (which i just ordered from the Coterie sale!) for a gorgeous purple... one that i had put back in favor of Wallis on the day of the Ulta sale! and i found a couple more Barielles at Marshalls  :)

and i've discovered the brilliance of Ross! i still much prefer TJ Maxx... but i am digging Ross. they had a set of Sally Hansens for $5.99... i almost didn't get it because i really only wanted two of the polishes. however, at three bucks a piece, it's a good deal... and i'll give the more traditional Sallys a try that i've stayed away from purely because of how ugly i think the bottle is! shallow, but true :)

those browns had me at hello! Happy Thursday! Ria :)

OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!

today was my riding lesson... i felt like it was a rough day of not getting the horse to listen, so i did get pretty frustrated with myself. i really don't blame the horse, it's me not being in control! i did finish the lesson with my first baby step towards jumping by trotting over trot poles. if you don't know what those are (i didn't) they are just thick tubes (poles!) lying flat on the ground and set a certain distance apart. i was amazed at the difference my new gloves made... one of the ladies i ride with had told me last week i would never go back to riding without them... i think she's right! no new blisters here :D

today's 2012 OPI Germany collection polish is Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!, which is quite a long name. i've noticed that a lot of the polishes in this collection would be benefit from some name shortening... for instance, i think the name of this one would actually sound better as Nein! Nein! OK Fine!. do we really need that extra Nein!? anyway, on to the polish review! this polish is a dark greY creme with strong green undertones. the color is chic and the formula is awesome, two buttery coats for full opacity. i really think this would make a great color for Autumn if you are into doing certain colors in certain seasons! it dries fairly shiny, but definitely benefits from a shiny topcoat.

two coats Nein!, one coat Seche Vite.

of course, i'm partial to this polish because it's greY! i don't *think* i have a greY exactly like this one, but i could be wrong... i do have lots of them. Happy Wednesday! Ria :)

OPI Suzi & The Dusseldorfs

today the fam headed out on a little day trip to Big Sur to see the waterfall that drops from a cliff into the ocean. i have to say... it was a lot smaller than i expected! it was still beautiful, and the whole drive there was along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, so it was gorgeous. it's basically driving along the side of a mountain that drops off into the ocean... really beautiful :)

today's polish is Suzi & The Dusseldorfs from the 2012 OPI Germany collection. it's a gorgeous purple pearl with a little bit of ultra finely milled blue and red shimmer. this is one that in the bottle looked like nothing special... but on is a different story! it's a beautiful, rich warm purple that is opaque in two easy coats. the only issue i had with it is that it wanted to shrink back from my nail tips... but that could be user error. it does not dry shiny, so i highly recommend adding topcoat!

two coats Suzi,  one coat Seche Vite.

the polish is looking a bit more neon in the swatchie than it is in real life... but it is really pretty! i hope you all are having great weeks! Ria :)

Cosmetic Arts Rainbow Flakie

i had an exciting day of ordering things on the internet! i took advantage of the Butter London deal through Coterie... the deal with Butter London topcoat is still available, read the deets from the Manicure Addict here! if the promo code VIPMEMBER doesn't work, try ZOEREPORT. let me know if any of you have already or are planning to get this deal :D

today's polish does not have a name... at least there isn't one on the bottle! it's a rainbow flakie in a clear base by Cosmetic Arts that i recently picked up at Ross for $1.99! this is kind of one of those get what you pay for situations in that... the polish is gorgeous, but the formula is a nightmare. it's very thick and sticky... you have to use a lot of strokes, push and pat the flakes where you want them to go. the flakes also really want to stick up and hang off the nail tip, so you'll need lots of topcoat! i used two thick coats of Seche Vite, and it still is not completely smooth. that said... for $1.99, this is a gorgeous polish! i would recommend picking it up if you see it, because this is a highly sought after type polish that not many companies make. it's something that would be fun for special occasions, if you don't want to fight with it for everyday!

one thick coat of flakies, two coats Seche Vite. it's layered over my OPI German-icure By OPI mani :)

Happy Monday! Ria :)

OPI German-icure By OPI

Mr. Pawlish and i are winding down our day with Murder, She Wrote... we're almost done with the entire series! we've been watching it for awhile now, i'm going to be bummed when we've finished it. we like to pick a show and then slowly go along and watch the whole thing... not sure what we're going to pick next. i bought the whole series of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman years ago as an Amazon Gold Box deal... that might be the one :D

today's polish is OPI German-icure By OPI from their 2012 Germany collection. this polish is GORGEOUS. it's a deep cherry red shimmer with the darkest of browns as a duochrome effect. it's not a groundbreaking color, but if you are looking for a color like this, German-icure is a great choice! it's fully opaque in two easy coats and the formula is nice and smooth. you'll definitely want to add topcoat to bring out all the shimmers!

two coats German-icure, one coat Seche Vite.

i can't believe the weekend is already over! happily, Mr. Pawlish has a week off from school, so the weekend continues at our house! Ria :)

Butter London Trustafarian

Mr. Pawlish and i headed over to Carmel today in search of riding gloves, due to the major owwie blister i got riding on Wednesday... success! i didn't really want to start riding with gloves because i think my hands will be really hot... but, better hot than bleeding :) we tried a new (to us!) steakhouse over there and it was really good... i much preferred the ambiance (and the food) of this one to the one we went to a few weeks ago.

i just had to go ahead and review the other holographic Butter London, Trustafarian! a couple days ago i reviewed Dodgy Barnett, which is a gorgeous silver holo. Trustafarian is a light green (with strong yellow tones) linear holo... happily, the holographic qualities are even stronger in Trustafarian than Dodgy! it's still not an in your face, screaming holo... but rather, a demure, elegant holo :) in some lights this polish looks more gold, and Butter London's description of it as 'sage' is perfect! the formula is awesome, two thick coats for full opacity. it dries with a slight amount shine, but i would definitely add a topcoat for lots and shine... and because topcoat doesn't seem to diminish the holographic qualities whatsoever!

two coats Trustafarian, one coat Seche Vite.

i highly recommend both of the Butter London holos... you can't go wrong with them!

i'm a huge jewelry fan, especially vintage and artisan jewelry... would any of you be interested in seeing when i buy things like that? let me know! Ria :)

Revlon File-n-Smooth Nail File

the dreaded day... grocery day. we needed loads so it was a long trip, too... boooo. i love shopping so much that i keep trying to tell myself that food shopping is fun... it hasn't worked yet! if any of you guys shop at Safeway, you should definitely download their phone app... it has saved me so much money, $50 today  :D it's definitely worth going through all the categories for available coupons!

today we're taking a look at the Revlon File-n-Smooth Nail File, this is a product i've been wanting to review for some time, but i never remembered to grab a picture of the packaging! i apologize for this not being the greatest photo, i took it with my cell phone at CVS :) this file is metal with a plastic backing and is made to be used in both directions while filing! this is huge for me, because i have never had the patience to use a file in only one direction. another benefit is that you can use it on polished nails... it does not cause the polish to flake off! it does a really great job on different types of nails... it works on both my weak, peely nails and Mama Pawlish's strong, hard nails. i am not a fan of crystal files because of the way sound it makes and the way it feels on my nails (weird, i know), this is an excellent alternative! i've been using these for years now and can't imagine a better file :)

i really can't praise this file highly enough, it's an absolutely must in my nail arsenal! have any of you tried these? what do you think?

you can find these many places where Revlon is sold, although not all Revlon retailers carry this particular tool! it sells for around $5.

Happy Thursday! Ria :)

Nail Tek II Intensive Therapy

i'm so happy to say that this week's horseback riding lesson went so much better than last week's... i was able to get Aramis to trot, so right there is a major improvement! i feel like it was a teacher's out of the classroom situation... because now that my instructor was around, he acted like a different horse. it's a really awesome feeling to be bonding with him, he's a pretty amazing horse :)

today we have a nail treatment for review, Nail Tek II Intensive Therapy, which is made 'for soft, peeling nails'. it's a protein liquid treatment that you paint on just like a nail polish. i have been using it for a while now, and i have noticed a difference in the breakage of my nails, i'm also actually able to file my nails now without them just shredding off. it has not completely eliminated peeling, but it is better! i have been using it as a basecoat, and i'm not loving it that way. it tends to be slightly lumpy and that shows when you add color over it. adding a topcoat helps to diminish the effect, but i'd prefer something smoother under colored polishes. if you are using it by itself, it dries shiny on its own, but adding a topcoat like Seche Vite to it gives it that extra sparkle!

the bottle comes in a box, here's what they look like!

if you need a product that's better under colored manicures, there will be a review coming up... it will be a bit though, because i need to fully test it! Happy Wednesday, halfway to the weekend! Ria :)

:: i was given this product for review, these are my honest opinions! ::

Butter London Dodgy Barnett

the last couple days have been crazy! we got a blockage in a pipe under hour which caused water to back out in our apartment and the apartment next door... so the water had to be completely shut off... which means we had to go stay at a hotel. Jewels was completely traumatized and spent the first night barking and the second night... diarrhea. poor puppy :( and poor me, because i spent the night scrubbing the carpet! i'm glad to say she's feeling much better now that she's home... this is the first time she's had any change in her routine since we adopted her a couple months ago. hopefully, she'll do better next time we have to travel! either way, we're all super happy to be back at our home :)

i couldn't wait to do a full mani of Butter London Dodgy Barnett! it's a silver linear holo that is opaque in two thick coats.... LOVE! the holo in it isn't as strong as in Layla Mercury Twilight, it's a more subtley chic look. you might even be able to get away with this one for work! another great thing about this polish is that topcoat really does not dull the holographic effect :D there is more color and play to the holo in real life than i was able to capture in this photo!

two coats Dodgy, one coat Seche Vite.

i have to say i'm super pleased with my Butter London purchases... you can bet there will be more hauls from them in the future! Happy Monday! Ria :)

Ulta Butter London Deal Day Haulage!

i'm happy to report i made it to Ulta bright and early today for their buy one Butter London get one free deal... and that they still had the holo polishes that i've been lemming! these are the four polishes i got, the top two are the holos!

top row left to right... Trustafarian, Dodgy Barnett
bottom row left to right... Slapper, Wallis

i also picked up some much needed nail supplies... and i found the Poshe Cuticle Care! it was not clearanced out at Ulta, so i'm hoping that Sally's just stopped carrying it and it's not discontinued. i also wanted to try a new treatment for my nails and SO many people use Nailtiques Formula 2! i've been testing out a similar product, the review on that should be up this week :)

i thought i'd throw in the other product i got at Ulta, let me know if you'd like a review on it! i needed a new eye cream and i loved the claims and the packaging on this one... the bonus, it was under $20 regular price AND currently it's on sale for even less!!

did you guys hit up Ulta for their amazing deal?? if you did, share what you got below! if you blog about it, post the link, too!! Ria :)

OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons

tomorrow is buy one Butter London polish get one FREE day at Ulta!! i plan on being there when they open, if all goes well :D hopefully, tomorrow post will be my Butter London haulage!

today's polish is OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons from their 2012 Germany collection. i think this is seriously misnamed... the color is nothing like a pretzel (either the inside or the outside!). it's a mannequin hand type nude creme that reminds me of the color of the original Band-Aids. this means it has strong greY undertones with just a touch of pink. the formula can't be faulted, two easy coats for full opacity! it's not my perfect mannequin hand polish, it's actually much too dark for my skin tone... but it's pretty fairly light, i'm just superrr light :)

two coats Buttons, one coat Seche Vite.

sorry for the tragic state of my cuticles... they actually don't look that bad in person, i'm not sure why they look so dehydrated on film! Jewels ate my Poshe Cuticle Care and i haven't been able to find a replacement tube... i've heard they've been discontinued :( i've been using the Sally Hansen Hand Creme instead, but not nearly enough. i'm going to look for the Poshe at Ulta tomorrow... hope i find it! good luck at the Butter London sale tomorrow, everyone!! Ria :)

OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby?

Mr. Pawlish and i headed to our favorite restaurant Sapporo tonight! we ended up getting a hibachi table and chef all to ourselves again... i feel so lucky :) and the food was absolutely amazing, the best i've ever had from there.

OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby? is today's 2012 Germany collection offering (and i'm LOVING the name!). the color switches from being more orange to more red in different lighting, and it tends to lean especially red on my skin tone. if you like to match your polish to the season, this one is perfect for Autumn! the finish is a shimmer that is a bit frosty owing to a little brushstrokeyness... since the color is so saturated, the brushstrokes really aren't noticeable. the formula is good, two coats for full opacity!

two coats Deutsch, one coat Seche Vite.

i plan on moving furniture tomorrow... wish me luck, because it's going to take forever! Happy Saturday! Ria  :)

OPI Berlin There Done That

we went to Pacific Grove today to see the otters... but they were hiding today! we did see loads of sea lions, though. and they are so cute! there are always loads of them lolling around on the rocks near the shore :) Mr. Pawlish was nice enough to build my new bookcase, so as soon as i get furniture rearranged i can set up my statues in my room in a much more organized way! i can't wait!

today we have another offering from the 2012 OPI Germany collection, Berlin There Done That. it's a beautiful taupe creme that is absolutely chic. i really like that it's lean chocolatey like many taupe polishes do, this one has far more greY undertones. i don't look down at this one and think... oh! chocolate milk! which makes me happy. the formula is excellent, two easy coats for full opacity and it dries super shiny all on its own. i did add a coat of Seche Vite, though!

two coats Berlin, one coat Seche Vite.

i hope you all have a great weekend! Ria :)

Rock Your Hair Miracle Leave-In Conditioner

i'm writing this super late tonight because i spent the day playing on the internet instead of getting things done! this evening Mr. Pawlish and i went out to dinner, then came home and watched tv... and i just didn't feel like blogging... so i'm doing it now :) we just watched the current Rookie Blue season's finale... and i have to say, i hated it! i don't want to give out spoilers, but it was definitely not my kind of ending... and now we have to wait a year to find out what happens next! *le sigh*

today's we're checking out Rock Your Hair Miracle Leave-In Conditioner and Weightless Detangler. i'm happy to report that this product does both those things well! i use Miracle on my hair while it's still wet after being washed, spraying it all over and then using a brush to go through my hair and make sure everything is evenly distributed. i definitely think it helps keep my hair moisturized and healthy. i also use Miracle as a detangler... when i use hairspray i tend to use a LOT in conjunction with teasing, so my hair is sticky and knotted at nighttime. i spray Miracle all over before i even try starting to brush out the knots, it really helps the tangles release and hairspray seems to be less bonded to the hair (but that could just be a side effect of the hairspray getting wet!). if you have fine hair like i do, be careful not to overuse, it will cause your hair to become greasy!

i really like the spray nozzle on the packaging, it causes the product to come as an extremely fine mist... as opposed to some that spray out big drops that concentrate on one spot of your hair. the smell is strange... to me, it smells exactly like the breath mint Sen-Sen... which most people probably won't even have heard of! it's a very old fashioned type of candy... it kind of smells like licorice and roses... it's quite hard to describe. i would say it's a smell that probably will not appeal to everyone, so definitely take the cap off and smell it before committing to purchasing! the packaging of the entire Rock Your Hair line is adorable... so girly and fun. all the bottles are bright pink with white caps and little rhinestone hearts on the front!

this product is Paraben, Sulfate, and Formaldehyde free :) you can find it at Ulta and for $20. i've also seen Rock Your Hair products at lots of different stores including Target and Marshall's! they should be stocked with other fine hair products :)

check out their Facebook...

i had never seen this brand before, but after seeing them at Cosmoprof i seem to have seen their products everywhere! it's possible i just never noticed before, though... i do tend to be a little oblivious sometimes :) have any of you guys tried Rock Your Hair products? what do you think? Ria :)

OPI Don't Talk Bach To Me

my horseback riding lesson was less than stellar today. my teacher forgot to tell me she was heading to a show, so i didn't even have a formal lesson... she just to me to take out a horse i had been riding. well, i had trouble tacking up myself so i had to ask another lady for help... and the embarrassment continued on from there! i absolutely could not get my horse to trot, and he realized i couldn't make him... it was tragic. and frustrating! so... it was not a good day.

today we have one of the 2012 OPI Germany collection polishes, Don't Talk Bach To Me. it's an odd little color, a dirty yellow green with the barest hint of pearlescent shimmer (as with lots of polishes, the pearl effect is more noticeable in the bottle!). this is one of those snot green polishes... it sounds super gross, but there it is! it's not a color i'll wear very often, but the formula is good! two coats for full opacity... and since it's using OPI's brush, application is a breeze.

two coats Don't Talk Bach To Me, one coat Seche Vite.

what do you guys think of colors like this? have you already or will you pick one of these up?

smile! you're halfway through the week! Ria :)

Tuesday Haulageday!

Mr. Pawlish and i headed out today after he got home from school in search of a new bookcase. i need something in our room to put my animal statue collection on... and the one i was using got broken by the movers. since we were in the shopping center already, i of course had to hit up Marshall's, Sally's, and Ross. sadly, my Sally's is out of nail wheels (and apparently has been for a while now!), so i was unable to swatch all my new pretties. i'm also trying to show a *little* self control, so i didn't get nearly as much as i wanted!

from Marshall's i got this two pack of Nicole by OPI... the silver is a scattered holo! i highly recommend heading over to your Marshall's, mine had loads of Essie and some Barielle sets, plus the Nicoles!

Sally Hansen complete Salon Manicure now has an new Designer collection that is exclusively available at Target! this is where i show major restraint... i wanted them all, but i only got Gilded Lily, a glittery gold foil!

Ross had these gorgeous flakies for only $1.99... never heard of the brand, but with glitters, it doesn't really matter!

and i got another Color Club All About Color set... so, yet again, i have no idea what these polishes are named!

and lastly, i got my OPI Germany collection in the mail! even though some of these look the same, i promise they are all different polishes :)

i'm seeing that polishes i got in my September Julep Maven box are not exactly like any of the OPIs... but the bottom three in the first picture are in the same vein.

let me know what things you'd like to see reviewed first! Ria :)

Layla CE 34 Lavender Mud

we're still on a mission to completely catch up on Rookie Blue... i'm still loving it! my husband had the day off from school for Labor Day... which means we spend the day watching the show :D and he also had to spend it on schoolwork, sadly for him. always makes me breathe a sigh of relief that i'm done with school!

today we have another Layla lovely, their Ceramic Effect 34, Lavender Mud. i really think that's a great name for this polish... it's a dusty, dirty purple creme with the barest hint of pink shimmer running through it. that shimmer is hard to find, it mostly just lends depth to the overall color. the formula is great, two easy coats for full opacity! it dries pretty shiny on it's own, but it's even better with topcoat :)

two coats CE 34 Lavender Mud, one coat Seche Vite.

it's even harder to find the shimmer in person than it is in the photo!

Layla polishes can be found here on Ninja Polish and at various other online retailers... their Hologram Effect and Magneffect polishes can be found at Ulta and (although their selection is limited now... they might not have them for much longer)!

i'm working on growing my nails out again and getting a good almondish shape to them... clearly i haven't gotten the shape right yet! they look so different with polish on than they do without... i think i need to start filing when i've already got on polish. hope you've all had a fantastic start to your week! Ria :)

OPI Red Shatter

Mr. Pawlish and i have been glued to the tv over the past day and a half, watching the entire series of Rookie Blue. we watched one episode from the current season on On Demand, finished what was on there... and have now started over with season one! right now we're on season two :) the reason i wanted to start watching it is that it has Missy Peregrym as the lead... i just love her! she's in Stick It, which is a mindless gymnastics movie that has nothing upsetting in it... no heartbreaks, no cheating... just mindless fun. so, that's what i throw on a lot when i'm blogging because i don't have to pay attention, but there's still something i enjoy watching :D do you guys have a show or movie like that?

today we have OPI Red Shatter, which is exactly what it sounds like... a red crackle! i have had this one since it came out, and i have noticed that it's thickened up a bit. giving this type of polish a really good shake before application really helps smooth it out. i tend to apply crackles fairly thickly, i don't like it as much when it's loads of tiny lines. i slapped it on over Cocoche No. 5 because i love the way red looks over a warm foil or glitter! conversely, i also metallic shatters over red :D as always, i finished the whole look off with one coat of Seche Vite. i usually add another coat to make the whole mani look really thick, but i liked how this one coat made the red very shiny and didn't add much to the bronze... it gave a textured 3D effect!

i love layering manis so that i don't have to change my nails and use acetone on them everyday, but i still get a new look! and crackle is just about the easiest way to get a nail art look that there is :D

hope you've all had a fantastic weekend! Ria :)

Cocoche No. 5

Mr. Pawlish and i checked out the Monterey County Fair today! i'm not a huge fan of fairs, but he really wanted to go so we headed over. of course, i had to get a funnel cake and cotton candy... that's the best part of fairs! i also got these 'singing rocks' for $1... best bargain of the Fair, no question :D they are spheres of magnetized hematite that make a loud zinging sounds when you throw two of them up into the air together. i just think they are so cool, i had to have some!

today's polish is Cocoche No. 5, it's a cool bronze foil. i was worried when i was painting it on that it was going to be super brushstrokey... but it dried like a champ! the color is a bit cooler with more yellow tones than my camera wanted to bring out. the formula is good, two coats for full opacity! you definitely want to make sure you don't keep going over the same spot, this polish dries really quickly and that will cause dragging! you can see on my ring finger where i accidentally pulled the polish into a line. the formula is thin and smooth, just don't over think and you're great :)

two coats Cocoche No. 5, one coat Seche Vite.

i also wanted to share that while the bottle looks like a regular square bottle with square lid...

the lid actually comes off and there is a smaller cap for easier application!

have you guys ever tried out this brand? Cosmoprof was the first i'd ever heard of them... comment below if you've used Cocoche polishes! Happy Saturday! Ria :)
