Rusk Multi 12 in 1 Miracle Leave-In Treatment

i hope you've all had a Happy Halloween! i'm not a big fan of Halloween, so the whole family (including the dogs!) went out to dinner :) my riding instructor was out of town today, so it was just another day of practicing the trot. i'm telling you, the seated trot is the pathway to amazing abs!

today's review is for Rusk Multi 12 in 1 Miracle Leave-In Treatment. this really could be called all in one, because it basically does it all, from leave-in conditioner to heat protectant! the packaging states that 'It immediately controls frizz, smoothes, detangles, moisturizes, strengthens and adds body to dry, damaged hair and more.' and that it 'Can be used with heat and acts as a thermal protectant to provide shine, control and conditioning from the inside out.' i think this really is a great all around product, it's ideal for people who want something easy! the only thing that didn't work about it for me is that it is not a strong enough moisturizer for severely damaged (mine was massively over-processed and completely fried earlier this year) hair. i absolutely love that this product is also a heat protectant, it's just so convenient... not to mention great for your hair!

Rusk Multi 12 in 1 should be available most places Rusk products are sold (like Ulta!) for $15.

for some reason today feels like Thursday... i wish it was! luckily, i won't have to wait much longer for it to actually BE Thursday! Ria :)

Found Color Club Collection Sets At Marshalls!

whew, good workout today! it was pretty warm out and i spent most of the time working on my trot, so both the horse and i were super sweaty by the end. it was nice to be able to work on things that really needed practice, like my seated trot, without sacrificing learning new things during my lesson. i'm thinking adding a practice day is going to be really helpful :)

yesterday i found two Color Club collection sets at Marshalls... i was surprised because i had never seen them there before! it's nice that they are in their actual collections, as opposed to the ones you get at Ross that are just a mash-up labelled 'All About Color'. i had thought that these bottles would have name labels (the All About Color ones don't), but no such luck :( the other bummer is that the price at Marshalls is $2 more, $9.99 as opposed to $7.99 at Ross. however, i think it might be worth the $2 to be able to more easily find out the names! i really hope Color Club starts adding name labels to the polishes in its sets soon, it's something everyone complains about.

here are the two sets i got, both are glitter collections!

Back Stage Pass...

Beyond The Mistletoe...

i highly recommend running out to your local Marshalls and TJ Maxx, i've found such great stuff at Marshalls lately! let me know what you find! Ria :)

Barielle Welcome Ohm

well, i think we had a little earthquake here in Monterey tonight! just a little shake, enough to creep you out if you aren't used to them... and i'm definitely not used to them! apparently it shook a lot more upstairs than downstairs... my mom came running down the stairs to see if we had felt it. life is nothing if not always entertaining!

today's polish is Barielle Welcome Ohm, a light mauvey plum creme. the formula is nice, easy to work with and opaque in two coats. it dries shiny on its own, but i do prefer the finished look it has with an added topcoat!

two coats Welcome Ohm, one coat Seche Vite.

tomorrow kicks off the start of my horseback riding twice a week... pretty exciting! i hope you all have exciting weeks, too!! Ria :)

Nicole by OPI Make U Smile

today our apartment complex had a Halloween event... and i'm majorly bummed because the Sheriff's Equestrian Team was supposed to come, but they didn't :( however, there was free pizza, popcorn, and cotton candy! so, i'm glad i went, even though the horsies didn't show up :)

i decided to put Nicole by OPI Make U Smile over yesterday's Barielle Suntini mani. it's a silver glitter with large hex and microglitter pieces. the pieces really look mirrored, it's a beautiful color of silver! i wasn't delighted with the formula... the clear base really overwhelms the glitter, the pieces don't want to stick on the nail. the large pieces were difficult to place... i found with two coats there were significantly more large pieces, but they still wanted to congregate at the top of the nail. it's still a pretty polish, it just offends my OCD sensibilities a little bit! it dries pretty smooth on its own, one coat of topcoat is all you'll need to seal it off.

two coats Make U Smile over Barielle Suntini, finished off with one coat of Poshe Topcoat.

i hope are all having a great weekend! Ria :)

Barielle Suntini

we had to drop off Mr. Pawlish's computer today for servicing, it seems he's got loads of malware on it :( luckily, the place we took it to was next to Marshalls because i had to exchange one of the Orly polishes because it had a defective cap. it was one of the ones that won't stop spinning... i worry that those aren't sealed enough and the polish itself will dry out! so, i swapped that one out for the same color and found another of the Mineral Fx collection... that makes it so i'm only missing one :D i also grabbed another Orly from there... having the polish next to registers makes me impulse buy! we also headed to Ulta, i was hoping they'd have Zoya's Holiday collection, but no such luck. they did have some cool looking Essence polishes... and for .99 cents i figured, why not? i'm super happy because i found out they carry Badger Balm, that stuff is awesome!

today polish is one i bought yesterday, Barielle Suntini! it's a bright, super saturated orange red creme... although on me, it looks more like a red orange. i can never accept that colors i want to be orange always read more red on me! while the color is very intense, the formula is a bit thin, so that even at three coats there is a bit of visible nail line. although, this color is so bright and fun i can excuse a little VNL! it dries really glossy on its own, but i did add topcoat to seal it off.

three coats Suntini, one coat Seche Vite.

i found this and lots of other Barielle polishes at Marshalls for $2.99, you can also buy it direct from Barielle on their website for $8!

i actually had to write half of this post twice because my internet messed up, i hate it when that happens! i always feel like the second draft isn't as good as what i had originally written... but this'll work. Happy Friday! Ria :)

It's A MASSIVE Thursday Haulageday!

i got my hair cut and colored today... and the place i went happens to be really close to Marshalls! so, of course, i had to go in and see what goodies they had in their polish section. sadly, there was zero Sation... BUT, they had loads of Barielle for only $2.99... so of course i had to get all the colors they had :D i wish Barielle was sold in regular stores... i was bummed that Marshalls still didn't have the two Barielles i've been lemming for ages... Elle's Spell and Falling Star. one day i'll find 'em! i also got a couple other polishes from Marshalls and a few clearanced at Target... yep, it was a big day for polish :)

starting out with the Barielle's...

i couldn't believe i found four of the six Orly Mineral Fx polishes for only $3.99 a piece!

loved this two pack from Nicole by OPI... the blue polish is actually purple, though... i don't know why it photographed so differently! the other polish is a great chunky silver glitter :)

lastly, the three neutrals from Target's exclusive Sally Hansen complete Salon Manicure collection!

as always, let me know if there's something you'd like to see reviewed immediately! :D this was a lot of fun to  shop for, i can't wait to play with them all. i hope you all are having a great week... SMILE because tomorrow's Friday!! Ria :)

Sation Holiday Golightly Collection Press

i got some exciting Sation press info from Miss Professional Nail in my email today and i couldn't wait to share it with you all! their upcoming six polish collection is called 'Holiday Golightly' and is inspired by Audrey Hepburn's character Holly Golightly (and her love of gems!) in Breakfast at Tiffany's... how cute is that?!

here's the press photo...

and here is their yummy descriptions of the colors!

“Under the Miss-letoe,” a pearlescent pine green; “Feliz Navi-doll,” an icy crystalline grayish-white; “I Love Yule,” a velvety poinsettia red; “Let’s Mingle & Jingle,” a silver-spangled sapphire blue; “Holiday Golightly,” a glistening Robin’s egg blue, and “Stop Scrooging Around,” a gold-sparkled ruby wine."

i am seriously drooling for that 'silver-spangled sapphire blue'... that's a Ria color if i ever heard one! :D

*update* the release date got pushed back a little bit, but you should be able to find the collection in mid-November at beauty supply stores and online at Miss Professional Nail here. the collection is available for viewing and pre-order online now, this is the direct link!!

i hope you enjoyed this sneak peek at Holiday Golightly, and that you're have a great week! Ria :)

OPI Just Spotted The Lizard vs. Maybelline Color Show Boho Gold

i had an awesome day today... i found out i was one of the lucky ones selected to purchase a limited edition Breyer horse that has wolves on it! two of my very favorite animals... i'm just so excited :D and tomorrow is my riding lesson, so that should be another fun horsie day, too :)

after yesterday's post i found myself wondering how close Maybelline Color Show Boho Gold is to OPI Just Spotted The Lizard. you find the initial review for Boho Gold here and the one for Just Spotted The Lizard here. i was pleasantly surprised to find that they aren't even close to being dupes! Boho Gold is far more coppery than Just Spotted The Lizard, and Just Spotted The Lizard has a stronger green shift than Boho Gold. Just Spotted The Lizard wins formula wise, it was two easy coats for full opacity, opposed to Boho Gold's three coats. the brushstrokes are slightly more visible in Just Spotted The Lizard, but not enough to be annoying to anyone.

Just Spotted The Lizard on pinkie and middle, Boho Gold on ring and pointer... both are topped with one coat of Seche Vite.

i would definitely say these are different enough to warrant getting both, especially if you're a big duochrome fan! i'm glad i have both :) i'm not even sure which i like better, i'm really into both of them!

do you have either of these? which would be your pick? Ria :)

Maybelline Color Show Boho Gold

we were supposed to have loads of rain here today... it only rained a little bit, though! basically... only enough to make it muddy, but not enough to do any good. when i took the dogs out this morning, they were like... um, not staying out here, Mom! the sky's leaking! :D

today we have Maybelline Color Show Boho Gold, a shimmery coppery gold to green duochrome. it's from their Scene On The Runway collection! to get the duochrome to really show up, you'll need at least three coats. at two coats, the color change wasn't as strong and it was decidedly thin at the tips... you'll definitely want to wrap them with this polish! the color change is (of course!) much stronger in the bottle... but it is a pretty strong shift. adding topcoat adds a little shine and helps even everything out... this polish will show any imperfections in your nails!

three coats Boho Bold, one coat Seche Vite.

and in different lighting... the green shows up a bit more, but it was hard to capture on film!

i do love duochromes, they are so fun to wear... they keep me staring at my nails all day! Ria :)

China Glaze Cast A Spell

like we do a lot of Sundays, we just took it easy and hung out today. last night we went to a get together at our neighbors house, which was really nice. there were people there from other countries, i love hearing how different it is and the ways people do things other places! one gentleman is from Tanzania... it's almost unimaginably different than there than it is here in Northern California... and different again from Virginia :) one thing i learned that really surprised me is that it gets really cold in South Africa... i was always led to believe that it's stayed super hot there all the time!

today's polish is China Glaze Cast A Spell from their Wicked collection. i liked it in the bottle... then when i got it home i really wasn't sure it was anything special. i'm so glad i got it after using it today... it's gorgeous! it's a dark olive color with light yellow green shimmers... so pretty! the base is so dark that it has a blackened effect... so awesome with those light shimmer particles. the formula is outstanding... it was fully opaque in one coat! i did add a second coat... because that's what i feel comfortable with... but there really wasn't an appreciable difference between the two. just a little more rich looking! you'll want to add a coat of topcoat to  make everything shiny, as it does dry slightly dull.

two coats Cast A Spell, one coat Seche Vite.

i hope you've all had a fantastic weekend and that the week ahead is even better! Ria :)

China Glaze Glitter Goblin over Pixi Evening Emerald

Mr. Pawlish and i went to some church rummage sales and yard sales this morning... i love doing stuff like that! i got some cute jewelry really cheap, which is one of the major things i'm always searching for. if you meet me in person, one thing you're sure to notice is how much jewelry i have on at any given time... i generally sleep in a lot of it :) my fave thing from today is probably a bracelet i bought from a little old lady who made them... she was so cute i just had to buy something from her! i was also excited to find a Breyer horse from the late 1950s at an antique store... and i talked the lady there down to $8... i'm big on haggling :)

i wanted to update yesterday's Pixi Evening Emerald mani, and i thought... what better way than to go for Halloween?! so i used one coat of China Glaze Glitter Goblin over it! Glitter Goblin is a dense orange glitter with silver holographic pieces... and over the green i'm definitely vibing funky pumpkins :) it's so dense that i think it would easily be opaque in three coats on its own, if not two! i wanted some of Evening Emerald to peek through, though, so i went with only one coat. it dries a little rough, so definitely add some topcoat to smooth it out and bring out all the shininess of the glitter! i used one coat of Poshe Topcoat, if you are sensitive to having texture on your nails, you'll probably need another coat.

i couldn't get a good picture of it, but all the silver glitter you see is actually holographic!

i think this is a fun fall mani, you could even use it for Thanksgiving! hope you're all having a great weekend!! Ria :)

Pixi Evening Emerald

Mr. Pawlish and i made the trek out to Salinas today to go the horse supply store... since i needed supplies :)  i wish it wasn't so far away, i've been needing to go, but the almost hour it takes it each way makes it unappealing... and they also don't have a huge stock... but it is much more than anyone else around here has! i thought about just ordering what i needed online, but i feel like with stuff like that, you really want to be able to touch and feel the quality before making a commitment. luckily, i was able to get the things i needed there... and in pink :D

the last Pixi polish i have to share with you all is Evening Emerald... it's my favorite of the three! it's called Emerald but it actually is more of a teal... a dark teal with loads of light teal shimmers! the formula is good, almost full coverage at one coat and complete opacity at two. you definitely want to use a shine topcoat to bring out all the shimmers... i used two coats to make sure that the finish was extra shiny!

two coats Evening Emerald, two coats Seche Vite.

i can't get over how gorgeous this polish is, i highly recommend it!

Pixi polishes retail for $8 for .25 fl.oz and can bought online at PixiBeauty.com and Target.com, they can also be bought in Target stores!

i hope you've enjoyed these three Pixi polishes, i'm so thankful i got to review them... they are all polishes i would gravitate to and buy if i saw them in store. i will definitely be checking out the Pixi display in Target when i head over there next week! Ria :)

Pixi Amazing Amethyst

it was quite warm today here in Monterey... i'm so glad i went riding yesterday and not today. i can't even imagine how hot it must have been in Salinas if it was hot in Monterey! it's crazy the way you get used to things... in Virginia 75 degrees is pretty cool... but when it's always 60 degrees, 75 is stifling!

today we have Pixi Amazing Amethyst! it's a very blue toned purple pearl... almost a blurple! the color is extremely saturated, it looks really rich and beautiful on the nail... it's more beautiful on the nail than in the bottle. the formula is great, good coverage at one coat, complete coverage at two! i did have one bald patch on my ring finger, so i did add an extra coat onto that one... but that was a user application error, not the polish. it dries fairly dull, so you'll definitely want to add a shine topcoat!

two coats Amazing Amethyst, one coat Seche Vite.

Pixi polishes retail for $8 for .25 fl.oz and can bought online at PixiBeauty.com and Target.com, they can also be bought in Target stores!

tomorrow's post will be my favorite of the Pixi's, i can't wait to share it with you all! Ria :)

Pixi Classy Cocoa

today was my horseback riding lesson! i always look forward to Wednesdays :) i got the good news today that i'm basically at the point where i can start coming in to practice on my own! the actual practice was a bit disappointing because i managed to hurt my ankle somehow while i was riding... and then i got sick. it was pretty hot today and i was doing a lot of posting (which is kind of like running, it takes a lot out of you), so maybe i got a bit dehydrated. i'm frustrated with my body, but that's life, i guess :)

today's polish is Pixi Classy Cocoa... a gorgeous brown pearl. it's cool toned and has some hidden amber shimmer, both of which makes it different than your average blah brown. the formula is excellent, you could do one thick coat, but i prefer two... i always just feel polish looks best with two! the finish isn't super shiny, so you'll want to add a shine topcoat to bring out all the nuances of the polish :)

two coats Classy Cocoa, one coat Seche Vite.

Pixi polishes retail for $8 for .25 fl.oz and can bought online at PixiBeauty.com and Target.com, they can also be bought in Target stores!

i have two more beautiful Pixi's coming up that i got to review... you don't want to miss them! Ria :)

My Color Club Halo Hues Arrived!... Sort Of.

i can't tell you how excited i was to get home from grocery shopping today to find multiple packages on my front porch! and yes, inside one of them was the long awaited Color Club Halo Hues holographic collection. imagine how disappointed i was to open up the package and find that one of the polishes i had ordered had been left out! so as of now i am still missing Cloud Nine. since i live on the West Coast and the company headquarters are on the East Coast, it was already too late to get a hold of someone to discuss my order. since i have now already called and emailed just trying to find out where my order was, and haven't heard back... i'm dreading the process of trying to get this bottle sent! to make matters worse, they didn't even include an invoice or shipping manifest in the box... so, i can't know if they left it out accidentally or if it was out of stock.

here's a photo of what the ones i did receive look like in the bottles...

i really love the brushed nickel look of the lids, i think it makes them seem much more chic, and the little flower on top of the lid is so cute... i'll put a picture of it in another post :) the holographic qualities are very apparent even in the bottles, unlike some holo polishes which you would swear were just regular until they are on the nail!

i swatched these on a nail wheel and i can't wait to start reviewing them! hopefully i can get Color Club on the phone tomorrow and see what the deal is. i will keep you all updated... i hope it all gets sorted out easily, i really want to be able to highly recommend this company because i have seen nothing but quality from their polishes! Ria :)

China Glaze United

i didn't feel very well today, so we decided to put off the drudgery of the grocery store until tomorrow... temporary reprieve! i watched the final segment of the Real Housewives of New Jersey Reunion... yikes, those people are mean to each other! i'm thinking that there will have to be some cast changes coming up, they can't even be in a room together and be civil.

today's polish is China Glaze United, a polish from their breast cancer awareness collection, United In Purpose. it's a glitter with most pink pieces and a smattering of holographic. the pink has brown undertones which gives it a nude look in some lights. it's pretty dense, i put it over my Barielle Princess mani and it covered pretty well in one coat, and completely in two coats. i would think over bare nails it would be completely opaque in three coats! it has a rough texture and fairly dull finish, so you will definitely want to add a topcoat. i needed two coats to get it shiny and smooth!

two coats United, two coats Poshe Topcoat.

i was just going to put this on my four swatching fingers, but once i had it on it was so beautiful i went ahead and did a full mani with it! at least i'll have some gorgeous nails at the grocery store! Ria :)

Barielle Princess

the weather here has been so strange lately... the temperature changes every day! we even had a thunderstorm a couple days ago... i was so happy to have one. it's strange the things you miss when you live in place where the weather changes so little... i actually miss the rain!

today's polish is Barielle Princess, a light pink creme. when i think of princesses i think of lots of glitz and sparkle, but this is just a very basic sparkle-free pink. it's lighter than a Pepto pink, but not one of those ultra-light pinks that verge on white. the formula is iffy, a very streaky first coat which mostly evens out at coat two. i could have left it at two coats, but i felt some places were slightly patchy and i felt it looked a lot better with three coats! i recommend adding topcoat to make it really shiny and rich.

three coats Princess, one coat Seche Vite.

i can't believe how quickly this weekend has slipped by, i hope that everyone has a great week! Ria :)

Julep Glenda

today was Mr. Pawlish's birthday! he chose to go to Sapporo's for dinner... i'm glad that he loves my favorite restaurant, too :D i still think it's wild that my mom an my husband's birthdays are only separated by one day! we decided that Jewels's birthday would be the day in between, since we don't know exactly when she was born. so, she's now a year old :) i can't believe she's already been with us for four months!

today i added Julep Glenda to yesterday's Julep Leslie mani, it's a sliver crackle. i really love the finish, it dries to a shimmery foil. like most crackles, i applied this one like i do all crackles, one thick coat, trying not to go over the same spots more than once. this one still cracks even if you do have slightly more more polish layered up, though :) you definitely want to add a topcoat to bring out all the shimmers and pick up the shine from the base polish! i topped off my mani with Poshe Topcoat.

i hope you are all having a great weekend! Ria :)

Julep Leslie

i can't believe i keep forgetting to tell you guys that the Color Club Halo Hues collection has finally been released! you can see nail wheel swatches from Cosmoprof here... it's a holographic collection! you can buy them off shopcolorclub.com here... that's what i did. however, i'm not impressed with their ordering system. i ordered mine a week ago and i haven't heard anything from them... i've even tried to get in touch about my order and i still haven't heard back! i will definitely keep you guys updated. the polishes should be available at drugstores that sell Color Club soon.

today's polish is Julep Leslie, a black glass fleck shimmer. this one came in my October 2012 Julep Maven It Girl box. this is a good one for people who want to wear black polish, but don't want to go all out with a black creme... the shimmers soften up the effect! the formula is good, you could make this a thick one coater, but i prefer how it looks with two coats. i suggest two coats of topcoat with this one, it will bring out all the light colored flecks!

two coats Leslie, two coats Seche Vite.

Happy Friday! Ria :)

Maybelline Color Show Shocking Seas

today was Mama Pawlish's birthday! she didn't want to do anything very exciting... just have pancakes for lunch and steak for dinner :D we tried out the Black Bear Diner, i was pleasantly surprised to find that the food is awesome... and for sure the best prices we have seen around here! i'm so glad to have found it, because i'm a steak fiend, always have been :)

today's polish is Maybelline Color Show Shocking Seas. it's a nice teal leaning blue creme that is opaque in only two coats. the formula is pretty good, a little patchy on the first coat, but it evens out beautifully on coat two. it's much more vibrant than the photo shows, this is one of those colors that freaks out my camera!

two coats Shocking Seas, one coat Seche Vite.

i hope you've all had a great day... and just think... tomorrow's Friday! Ria :)

Basically... EcoTools Bamboo Nail Brush

started learning a new skill today at my horseback riding lesson... the seated trot. just when i'm finally getting trotting down, a new curve ball! trying to learn how to bounce with the horse's movement, but not bounce crazy high... it's super tough. you start to wonder if your spine just might snap in half... :D so, that's my new goal, once i master this i can move on to the canter!

today's Basically... product is one i'm super excited to share with you all! it's EcoTools Bamboo Nail Brush... and it's amazing! i've been desolate because somehow mine got lost when i moved to Cali and i haven't been able to find a replacement... but i finally found them at Pharmica... and they are under $5! you can also get them here on the EcoTools website for only $1.29.

the handle is made out of bamboo and the bristles are plastic. i'm not sure what makes it so different than other nail brushes, it really doesn't look that much different... however, i've tried lots of nail brushes and it's just so much better! i use it all the time since i have so much free edge, i keep one in the kitchen and the bathroom... you don't want anything staying trapped under your nails... not a good look (not to mention unsanitary, especially when you're cooking!). i highly recommend using it every time you remove polish, really scrub and get rid of all the lingering polish and remover residue. it helps your cuticles to look more fresh, too!

this is what the brush and label look like...

here's the bristles!

i can't recommend this brush highly enough... and for the price, why not give it a shot? i'll leave you with one last picture of the brush... Jewels though it might be for her! Ria :)

Layla Softouch Effect 05 Cherry Diva

today was one of those errand days where you feel like they'll just never end! it didn't help that that all the stores were in completely different places in Monterey. it was an excellent excuse to try out the downtown Monterey Crepe Company location... it was pretty good! i wish i could find a place here that made crepes the way the place i loved in Virginia Beach made them. the Monterey place folds them in half before they add the food... somehow that makes them taste more like pancakes, i guess because it makes them more thick! i got one with turkey, cheese, and tomatoes... tasty :)

today i have the last of my Layla Softouch Effect polishes to share with you! this one is 05 Cherry Diva, it's a cool toned red with gold shimmers... certainly a cherry diva color! like all of this line, it's beautiful both in its natural matte-like finish and when a shine topcoat has been added... this one is really like getting two polishes in one as the color even changes when it's made shiny. in its natural finish, the color is dusty and soft, with topcoat the red stands out much more... it's a darker red and the gold shimmers stand our in much sharper contrast. the formula is excellent, it flows easily and is opaque in two coats!

two coats Cherry Diva, pinkie and middle fingers are topped with one coat of Seche Vite.

you can find this polish at Ninja Polish for $9.95!

these polishes are so beautiful, i'm so appreciative i was given the opportunity to try them out! my favorite is 05 Stone... but it's a hard choice because they are all lovely. which Softouch do you like best? Ria :)

China Glaze Make A Spectacle

we headed over to the mall today to get some lunch at Islands, one of our favorite burger places! i also had some Bath and Body Works coupons that i wanted to use... i am disappointed with them though, because you can no longer use the coupons to get the body mists for free. it's pretty lame to jack the price on one of the items everyone wants... i guess that's how business work, though!

today's polish is China Glaze Make A Spectacle, an iridescent glitter with both micro and large sized pieces. it's part of China Glaze's new Wicked collection, i picked up this polish and an olive green shimmer called Cast A Spell today! the pastel iridescent glitters are in a clear base, you could put over any color and it will look great. the formula is nice, it flows easily and you don't have to fight with it to get the polish spread out evenly! i put it over Layla Softouch Effect 03 Stone, it was as easy to apply on the nails with Seche Vite as on the nails that were still mattified :) i finished off the whole look with one coat of Poshe Topcoat!

tomorrow's post will be the last of my Layla Softouches! Ria :)

Layla Softouch Effect 03 Stone

today my lovely husband went to see 'Pitch Perfect' with me... he's such a good sport :) it was the first movie in a long time that has looked interesting enough for me to want to see it in the theater. it was pretty good, i enjoyed it a lot... it has lots of funny parts which is generally what i look for in a movie. although, i like action flicks, too :)

today we have another beautiful Layla Softouch, this one is 03 Stone. this one is probably my favorite Softouch, it's just such a me color! it's greYish dusty lavender that has pink shimmers. it has an almost duochrome quality to it that makes it look much darker depending on the angle you're looking at it from. the formula is nice, two easy coats for full opacity. i love how this one looks in its original matte-like finish, it has loads of depth to it and is absolutely gorgeous. it's also beautiful with topcoat, but it tends to it eat, so you'll want to use two coats! the pink shimmers really stand out once the topcoat has been added :)

i tried something different with the swatchie today, i added topcoat to my pinkie and middle fingers and left the other two without. i thought it might be nice to be able to see the differences right next to each other... let me know which way you prefer!

this color being named Stone makes me think it's the color of the building blocks of fairy tale princesses' castles :)

you can find this polish at Ninja Polish for $9.95!

i hope you've all had a great weekend and have an awesome week! Ria :)

Layla Softouch Effect 11 Mudhattan

after all the fun yesterday, we decided to spend a lazy Saturday at home. we've just been watching tv and hanging out... a different, more relaxed fun day. the dogs are still tired from all the traveling yesterday! but, they are pretty lazy anyway, so i guess it can be hard to tell :)

today's polish is Layla Softouch Effect 11 Mudhattan. it's really well named because it's a chic, cool toned brown... which is exactly what the term Mudhattan evokes in my mind! it has the matte-like, soft finish of this collection, but it can easily become shiny with the addition of a topcoat. this one i definitely prefer matte, it's just so effortlessly chic that way! the formula was great, i used to easy coats for full opacity. one thing you want to remember with these polishes is that any flaws in your nails will be more visible, so you will want to buff them before polishing. you can see what i mean on my pointer nail, you can see the ridge where a few layers of nail had split off!

two coats Mudhattan...

finished off with one coat of Seche Vite!

the slight shimmers you see in the bottle aren't visible at all on the nail, they just add depth to the polish.

you can find this polish at Ninja Polish for $9.95!

Happy Saturday! Ria :)

Orly Here Comes Trouble

today was super fun, i've been looking forward to it since i found out last week that there was going to be a Jade Festival today! it was an awesome little craft type show where people showed off and sold their jade, both made into jewelry and just left as rocks. check out the site...http://bigsurjadefest.com/, it lasts all weekend :)  i didn't know before i moved here, but California has its own jade! it's called Big Sur Jade and can be found all up and down the Big Sur coast. i haven't gone jade hunting yet, but i certainly plan to :D i bought a few jade pendants and an amazing labradorite pendant that's greY and flashes pink... basically, that rock was made for me... my two absolute favorite colors!! :) we took the dogs with us, which was great for the most part... except when Jewels threw up in the car :\ guess all those twisty mountain turns were too much for her tummy!

in honor of the Jade Fest, i just had to wear green! i chose Orly Here Comes Trouble, a warm green glitter. this is both regular sized and microglitter pieces, so i was able to get it fully opaque in only three coats! two coats was actually really great coverage, and if i wasn't so crazy about VNL, i would have left it at that. it's very sparkly on it's own and dries fairly smooth, so i just used one coat of topcoat to seal it in.

three coats Here Comes Trouble, one coat Poshe Topcoat.

today was absolutely wonderful, a fantastic start to my husband's four day weekend! i hope you all had great days, too!! Ria :)

Layla Softouch Effect 06 Limoncello

spent the day doing some swatching and watching Guys With Kids... i'm not really digging the show. but i might keep watching it because i love Tempestt Bledsoe! it seems to me that tv shows are just trying to hard to be funny lately, they need to stop forcing the humor. the new stuff has nothing on old shows like Cosby and Home Improvement!

today's polish is Layla Softouch Effect 06 Limoncello, a gorgeous lime green shimmer... with a non-shiny finish! the matte-like finish of this polish is a nice surprise, you automatically expect shimmers to be super shiny. and, of course, if you decide you feel like some shine, it's as simple as adding a shiny topcoat! this one is a bit more sheer than most of their Softouch line, at three coats it still wasn't absolutely opaque. it does look really nice, you could also layer it over a different polish to change the color a bit!

three coats Limoncello...

topped off with one coat of Seche Vite!

you can find this polish at Ninja Polish for $9.95!

i have three more of these Softouch babies to share with you guys, they will be featured over the next few days! Ria :)

Sation's Landed At Marshalls Haul!

i'm so glad it was cooler today than it has been over the past couple days... but it was still much warmer than it usual! horseback riding is definitely more strenuous when it's hot, i thought i might melt at a couple points! we did some dressage work today, so at least we weren't doing intense stuff. dressage is really hard, by the way :D my mind is spinning over all the things i need to keep in mind... just to do the utter basics!

after riding i headed over to the big shopping center around here to pick up a few things... and ended up with polish! you're all so shocked, right? i've been trying not to buy stuff full priced lately, instead buying it after it's clearanced or sent to a discount store... and it's working out well! a few Sation polishes have hit the shelves of my local Marshalls... for only $2.99!! so, be sure to check your local Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Winners stores :) these were mixed in with the other polishes, there wasn't a separate display or anything. i got a few different colors and one cool glitter! also in the photo are a Barielle i got at Marshalls and Nailtiques 2 Plus i grabbed at Ulta... my nails are good with their regular 2 formula, but i'm thinking mine fit the description of 'excessive problem nails' on the box :D

here's the goods!

i ran into Ross as well, and they had a couple Color Club packs... so, of course, i grabbed those too! these are the colors...

i wanted to show how different the new 'All About Color' packaging is! this is the same set as the top one above, but you can't really see the colors while they're in the packaging!

one other thing i wanted to mention is that Mama Pawlish loves the Rock Your Hair Miracle Leave-In Conditioner so much that she used it up and i had to buy her a new one today! she says it's the best she's ever used by far, and it makes her hair so much more manageable :D

check back tomorrow for some LAYLA! Ria :)

Julep Maven :: October 2012 It Girl Box

ugh, visited the horror of horrors today... the grocery store. we needed so much stuff that the cart was literally overflowing... the mind boggles! but, my mom and i managed to truck it all home :) times like those are when i curse all the steps leading up to my apartment... i keep trying to remind myself i need the exercise, but somehow that just doesn't help :D

i was really happy to find my Julep Maven box in the mail today! i (as usual) got the It Girl box that comes with three polishes. i really like the whole box this month... none of the colors are super original, but they are all colors i love... it's even got a silver crackle! plus, it came with candy corn, which i absolutely adore :D

here's the whole shebang...

and now focusing in on the polishes!

the extra treatie this month was two glitters, one orange and one black! i think it's so cute that the little glitter jar has the Julep flower on it.

a cool front is supposed to move through here tomorrow, i'm hoping it comes before my riding lesson! Ria :)

Sation Shiny Gold

i was shocked to wake up and find it hot here today! it wasn't hot like it gets everywhere else in this country, but after 65 degree days, 80 degrees is a shock to the system. Jewels was a total drama queen, sitting around with her eyes half closed and her tongue hanging out... i don't know what she's going to do when we move in a couple years :D

today's polish is the final Sation polish i was given for review, Shiny Gold. this one is a buttery cream frost with some shimmer to it that is quite sheer. i used three coats and it's still not fully opaque. this is a polish i would use as a glaze over another opaque polish rather than by itself because i don't like to see my nail line. however, i know a lot of people that love the look of just a hint of color over their natural nails! if you like that look, this a great polish. even though it's a frost finish, the brushstrokes are not very noticeable.

three coats Shiny Gold, one coat Poshe Topcoat.

Sation polish can be found at their website and select Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Winners stores!

i hope it's not as hot on Wednesday, horseback riding in the heat is just not as much fun! i'm really excited to find out what i'm learning this week, though. here's to a fun week! Ria :)
