LA Colors Color Craze Sassy Sparkle

the saga of the birth control continues... i went in today, but i'm going to have to go back to the doctor soon because they didn't listen to me. they agreed to prescribe me a month of birth control... but when i called the pharmacy to see if it was ready, they said they never received anything! i'm about ready to pull all my hair out. after the doctor i met a friend at the barn and she showed me the very basics of horse bodywork. it was so helpful, she's really amazing with horses! i found out the all the problems i'm having lunging Aramis are largely due to major miscommunications on my part... which makes me feel terrible! hopefully i'll get better now that i know some more basics :)

today's polish is LA Colors Color Craze Sassy Sparkle. i've had it for awhile and have just put off using it... so i grabbed it out today. it's a warm iridescent glitter that includes loads of colors, more than most glitters of this ilk. it even has bright blue and purple! the greens, yellows, and oranges are definitely the big players, though.  i layered it over my Zoya Dree mani, and it came it way better than i'd hoped. the warm green really pulls out all the colors in Sassy Sparkle! i used two coats of it, i felt it was a little too sparse with just one coat. you'll definitely want to topcoat over this one to get that shine.

two coats Sassy Sparkle, one coat Seche Vite, all over my Zoya Dree mani.

my complaint with this polish is the smell... it smells like hospital soap... and i really hate that smell. somehow the smell even comes through the topcoat! however, it doesn't smell so much that you would notice it if your fingers weren't close to your nose... thank goodness! do smelly polishes bother you guys? Ria :)

Zoya Dree

had a nice, relaxing riding lesson today... Aramis was a very good boy :) i went out with friends for lunch for Japanese again... i'm telling you, i can't get enough Japanese food! hibachi is just too good. hopefully my doctor will prescribe me my medicine tomorrow... if not, i'm going somewhere else! getting birth control should not be this difficult.

today's polish is Zoya Dree. it's an Army olive green creme... this shade was super on trend a couple seasons ago! i don't think military inspired ever goes completely out of style, though. Dree goes on really patchy on the first coat, but evens out to full opacity on coat two. really make sure your pulling the brush all the way down and off your nail, this one wants to shrink back from the tips. using that method i only had to add polish to one nail! it's pretty shiny without topcoat, but i think it's looks much more rich with it.

two coats Dree, one coat Seche Vite.

this was surprisingly flattering on my super fair skin tone! for some reason i wasn't expecting it to look nearly so good. are you guys still rocking colors like this? Ria :)

Sation Suede Shoes

WELL. i have to confess to you guys, i'm in a terrible mood. my doctor made me furious today, because the pharmacy lost my prescription... and he refuses to fill it until i come in for an appointment on Thursday! i take the hormone constantly, so i'll have been off my birth control for four days (which does not help my mood to have my hormonies raging!). between him and the pharmacy, i could just spit. has something like that ever happened to you guys?

on to much happier things, the polish of the day is Sation Suede Shoes! it's a beautiful (surprise!) blue shimmer with very scattered silver glitter particles. it leans a bit frosty, but the brushstrokes aren't super visible. i was worried the glitters would be lost in the sauce, but you can see them easily :) it looks really sheer on its first coat, but becomes totally opaque on coat two. the color isn't quite as warm as it looks in the picture, the white specks you see are actually the silver particles!

two coats Suede Shoes, one coat Seche Vite.

the only complaint i have with this polish is that it wants to back off the tips a bit... even though i added a little extra to the tips between coats one and two! i forgive it though, because it's really a lovely blue polish. Ria :)

Revlon Plum Night

when i woke up this morning i still felt a little funny, so i decided to skip the barn today. Mr. Pawlish and i went out to lunch at my fave restaurant :) then we just hung out at home with the doggies. i'm feeling much better now, so i'm thinking i'll head over and ride tomorrow.

today's polish is Revlon Plum Night. it's a warm, deep purple creme that doesn't look quite as harsh as a black creme would. the formula is really easy to work with, only two coats for full opacity. coat one was pretty sheer, but coat two built up like a champ! i was impressed with how glossy it dried on its own, and only needed topcoat for drying purposes.

two coats Plum Night, one coat Seche Vite.

it feels a little strange to be wearing regular smooth polish after wearing China Glaze Texture polishes for a week! it's crazy how you get used to things. Ria :)

China Glaze Texture... Toe-Tally Textured

this morning was a little freaky, i woke up with vertigo! i've only had it once before, and that was back when i lived in Virginia Beach. i don't understand how your brain makes it look like the room is spinning by... it's such an odd sensation. thank goodness that has gone away, but i'm still a bit dizzy sometimes. i'm going to get up at the normal time and see how i'm feeling... i'm hoping i'll be good to go since Mr. Pawlish is home to go to the barn with me. if i'm not, i'll probably wait until my lesson Wednesday before heading back out. i wish i knew whether this vertigo was caused by falling off or if it's just related to the neurological problem i have!

today's polish is the last of the China Glaze Texture collection... Toe-Tally Textured. the name is SO cute, i think! it's a fun pumpkin orange creme, perfect for a warm summer day... straight a crisp autumn morning! the formula on this one was a bit thick, but manageable. two coats are all it takes full opacity, and like the others, dries with a nice sheen. it's better without topcoat so you get the full texture effect!

two coats Toe-Tally Textured, no topcoat.

it's a bit less shiny than the picture makes it look... i don't know why the camera picks it up like that!

what did you all think of the China Glaze Texture collection? will you be picking any up? i have to say, i'm still in love with them! Ria :)

China Glaze Texture... In The Rough

i'm a bit sore today after all of yesterday's excitement, but i don't seem to have any other effects from falling off and bumping my head... thank goodness! i'm glad Mr. Pawlish will be able to come with me to the barn on Monday, just to make sure everything is okay before i go out alone again. i wish i knew exactly why i fell off, though!

today's polish is In The Rough, from the China Glaze Texture collection. i bought this bad boy myself :) it's a pale yellowy green creme, it reminds me of Fiona from Shrek! it has loads of texture when it's dry and has a nice sheen like the others. the formula on this one was slightly more sheer than the others, but it was still opaque in two coats! i feel like this one was slightly harder to work with than the others, but that could be my imagination. i do prefer it without topcoat as i feel it lessens the textured appearance!

two coats In The Rough, no topcoat.

only one more Texture polish to go, that should be up tomorrow! Ria :)

Salon Perfect Neon Collision Press Release

today ended up being crazy, somehow i fell off Aramis... but can't remember exactly how it happened. since i had lost time, i called my husband to come get me and he and his friend convinced me to go the ER. four hours and a CT scan later, i'm fine! the doc thinks i might have gotten a slight concussion because of the lost time, but he's not sure. so i'm going to take the weekend easy and then get back into it.

today's post is a press release from Salon Perfect on their fun summer collection, Neon Collision!

China Glaze Texture... Of Coarse!

great news, the water is fixed :D i stayed home today and waited for the repair man instead of going to the barn... i still don't really know what the problem was, but as long as it's fixed, i don't care! definitely have to get to the barn tomorrow, my trainer moved me up a level in dressage... and since we are going to a clinic in a couple weeks, Aramis and i better get cracking :)

today's China Glaze Texture polish is Of Coarse!, this one i purchased myself. it's a lovely medium blue creme that dries down to a nice sheen (although not quite as shiny as it looks in the swatch!). like the others, it has that cool rough grain sandpaper feel and look once it's dry. i'm really getting the hang of using this, they work much better (not to mention dry faster!) when you don't use thick coats... which is how i usually apply polish. wipe the brush enough to have coverage without balding, but not enough for a really thick layer. hope that makes sense! even with thinner coats, only two coats are needed for full opacity. as with the others, i prefer them without topcoat as the texture is much obvious.

two coats Of Coarse!, no topcoat.

still two Texture polishes to go! i can't tell you how happy i am that the water got fixed without me having to move into a hotel like last time... life is good. Ria :)

China Glaze Texture... Bump & Grind

we're having more water drama here at the house of Pawlish. if you've been with me for awhile, you'll remember we had to move out for a few days due to plumbing issues last year... and i'm desperately trying to avoid that again! taking Jewels to a hotel is a major pain in the rear. plus, i need all my stuff! i have no clue what's wrong, but the symptom is they messed with something and now they can't keep the water pressure up... and it has something to do with a valve? i dunno, but i'm sure annoyed!

today's polish is China Glaze Bump & Grind from the Texture collection (kindly provided to me for review!). this will be the last of the one's i was sent, the next three i purchased myself :) Bump & Grind is a very saturated watermelon pink creme with strong red undertones. it has loads of coverage in one coat and complete coverage in two. topcoat will lesson the textured appearance, but it has a nice sheen on its own. it's not quite as shiny as the swatch seems, the camera seems to pick up on every little gleam!

two coats Bump & Grind, no topcoat.

China Glaze Texture polishes are available in fine salons and beauty supply stores... my favorite places to buy China Glaze are Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta!

hopefully tomorrow will bring another Texture post... unless we've been moved to hotel, then who knows! Ria :)

China Glaze Texture... Itty, Bitty & Gritty

i wanted to run errands while Mr. Pawlish was at school today... but as soon as i put a halter on Aramis, he got mud all over my shirt! since i needed to go to beauty stores, i especially didn't want to head in there looking (not to mention smelling!) like the barn fly i am :) so, he was kind enough to head out with me after school. i just had to buy the three Texture polishes that i hadn't been sent!

today's China Glaze Texture polish is Itty, Bitty & Gritty (kindly sent to me for review!). it's a salmon/coral pink creme that dries down with a nice sheen. once completely dry, it looks a lot like a rough grain sandpaper. the opacity is really nice, great coverage in one coat and perfection at two. adding a topcoat will lessen the textured appearance, i much prefer it without.

two coats Itty, Bitty & Gritty, no topcoat.

China Glaze Texture polishes are available in fine salons and beauty supply stores... my favorite places to buy China Glaze are Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta!

check back tomorrow for the next Texture polish... that will be the last of the ones i was sent, then we'll move on to the ones i purchased myself! Ria :)

China Glaze Texture... Unrefined

sorry about the lack of a post yesterday! i was totally wiped when i got home from the horse show. it went really well... at least at the actual show :) Aramis was totally naughty on Saturday, but lucky for me, he got his nose back in joint for Sunday! my division ended up getting split, so my friend and i both got second place ribbons, which is amazing :D i have to say, i was super excited to get a big horse show ribbon!

for the next couple days i will be sharing polishes from the China Glaze Texture collection (kindly provided to me for review!). i'm in love with this collection! first up is Unrefined, a Pepto pink creme. when these polishes dry, they develop a rough texture that reminds me of sandpaper. i used two coats for full opacity, i let the first coat dry pretty well before adding coat two. it dried down to a satin type finish, topcoat can be added, but it will diminish the textured appearance.

two coats Unrefined, no topcoat.

Sally Hansen complete Salon Manicure Back To The Fuchsia

WELL. it was quite an adventure at the barn today. i had a little premonition Aramis would be naughty because i had to pull him out just as his lunch was delivered... but i didn't expect the level of naughtiness! it escalated to the point where he bolted off and over jumps... and somehow i managed to stay on. the craziest part was my husband was taping me with my phone (it helps so much to be able to watch what i was doing)... so he caught all the craziness... and when i finally got Aramis back under control, my husband starts cracking up! glad i could add some hilarity to his life, i guess :) he bolted on me one more time a little later, so hopefully he got all his sillies out at home and will be the model of perfect behavior at the show this weekend... it could happen!

today's polish is what i will be wearing for the show! it's Sally Hansen complete Salon Manicure Back To The Fuchsia, a hot pink creme with subtlest of blue shimmers running through it. my barn colors are black and pink, and i decided a pink would be good for this weekend. this polish has a nice formula, it's a bit runny so be careful of too much pressure! i used two thick coats for full opacity. it's not super shiny when it dries, it definitely benefits from adding topcoat!

two coats Back To The Fuchsia, one coat Seche Vite.

no post tomorrow as i will be at the show grounds, i should be back on Sunday.

Happy Weekend! Ria :)

Orly Heat Wave

well, the decision on whether or not to chop my nails was taken out my... hands (sorry, had to!)... i was just walking around my apartment, i looked down and realized my middle fingernail on my swatch hand had ripped off down to the pink! i have no idea how it happened, i didn't even feel it. weird, huh? so i went ahead and took them all really short, get a fresh start on growing them out. i feel like i can only have my nails long for a certain amount of time before they start busting off left and right... i'm not sure why!

today's polish is Orly Heat Wave... it's a shimmer filled sheer orange that's really sparkly! i'm not sure how many coats it would take for full opacity over long nails... that is the extreme disadvantage of having nubs. i used two coats for my mani, and am happy with the look! i'm thinking that three coats would probably give good coverage over long nails :) adding a shine topcoat really brings out all the sparkles!

two coats Heat Wave, one coat Seche Vite.

i'm looking forward to spending tomorrow with Mr. Pawlish... he's such a good sport, he's even going to come to my lesson again. then Saturday i leave for the horse show! what are you guys up to this weekend? Ria :)

Zoya Gie Gie

had a jumping lesson on Aramis this morning, then i rode my friend's horse for a little bit... just to get the feel of riding a different horse. i was literally in shock at how different all the gaits felt! i knew the trot would be smoother, Aramis' trot makes your teeth feel like they are going to fall out... but even the canter was way more smooth. i love my big galoot, though :)

today's polish is Zoya Gie Gie! i got in my May ipsy Glam Bag and couldn't wait to put it on. it's a light pink shimmer that is delicate and fun. it's fairly sheer, i think it would look great as a glaze over a French manicure... and if that isn't your thing, you can achieve complete opacity in three coats. i highly recommend a topcoat over this one to bring out the sparkles it has to offer!

three coats Gie Gie, one coat Seche Vite.

i keep having to file my nails shorter because they keep peeling at the tips or just sheering off... *sigh* i'm trying to decide if i should chop them completely for the horse show this weekend, i don't want to have to futz around with them! what do you guys think? Ria :)

ipsy Glam Bag May 2013

i am super excited to have received my first ipsy Glam Bag in the mail today! i've looked into loads of these pay per month sample bags, and none of really interested me... but multiple YouTube personalities that i have watched for years have been recommending them, and at ten bucks including shipping, why not? (although i do think i had to pay a tax since i live in Cali *insert HUGE eye roll* i have to say, though, i'm really happy with my purchase!

everything comes in an adorable hot pink mailer bag, and inside that is a little makeup bag... that is part of the ipsy deal, you get a makeup bag with your samples each month. as a bag fanatic, i love that little extra treatie! the theme this month is Spring Fling, and the little makeup bag makes me think of Missoni! cute :)

here's a look at all the products peaking out of the bag :D

first up is a beautiful Zoya polish in Gie Gie... one i would have totally picked out myself!

then we have a Mirabella Colour Sheers Lipstick in Posy.

then we have a Yaby concealer in Vanilla. this is the only packaging i'm not thrilled with, i don't have a magnetic pallet to put it in and it comes loose.

then there's a Pacifica Perfume Roll-On in Island Vanilla. i love warm scents, so i was really glad to get this one!

last up is the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel... this is probably what i'm most excited about! i've been wanting to try out their brow gel for awhile because i've heard nothing but good things about it.

overall, i'm delighted with my first ipsy bag and look forward to seeing what else they have in store! have you guys tried out ipsy? do you subscribe to any of the services? Happy Tuesday! Ria :)

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro Midnight Blue

anyone else excited that Demi Lovato's new cd comes out tomorrow?? i love all types of music, and hers is no exception. her last cd was so great, i have high hopes for this one!

today's polish is Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro Midnight Blue. it's a deep navy blue that has royal blue shimmers that become visible in bright light. i love the color, but it did react strangely over my nail strengthener, it made it spotty like oil... really weird. another coat made that look go away and brought full opacity. i highly recommend a shine topcoat over this one to really bring out all it has to offer!

two coats Midnight Blue, one coat Seche Vite.

blue polishes are my favorites, and as usual Rimmel doesn't disappoint! Ria :)

Essence Nail Art Stampy Set Haul

Mr. Pawlish and i met up with friends for lunch at California Pizza Kitchen today... love it! we wandered around the mall a bit afterwards and i got a white camisole to wear under the white polo shirt at the horse show next weekend. Express makes my favorite basic camisoles, they are so nice and hold up really well!

while at Ulta on Saturday i stumbled across the new little beauty... the Essence Nail Art Stampy Set! i was super excited to buy, and with a price point of $3.99, how can you pass it up?! it looks like a great way to try out stamping without investing in the pricier sets. it comes with a stamper, scraper, and one plate... that way you don't have lots of junk you don't want hanging around if you decide you hate stamping!

here's the cute packaging, it was in the regular Essence display!

these are the stamper and scraper... although i do prefer using an old credit card as the scraper!

and here are the nine images on the plate! i might be using this for my horse show mani :)

have any of you picked this set up? what do you think? if you haven't, is it on your hit list? Ria :)

China Glaze Electric Beat

found myself a polo to wear at the horse next weekend... it's not my favorite thing ever, but it will work! i found a beautiful dress at Marshalls, too... i'm pretty much in love with it. then we just went to Ulta and Target to get basics. i'm trying out a new oil control moisturizer from Cetaphil that i have high hopes for... i'll let you know how it goes!

today's polish is China Glaze Electric Beat, a medium blue creme from their 2012 Electropop collection. it's a bit dusty in tone with a bit of periwinkle and it's really easy to work with. it's not the most unique color, but a great example of it's type! you could even make a one coater, it's opaque at one coat... but i feel like it looks better with that added coat. it dries glossy on its own, but it's SUPER glossy once topcoat is added!

two coats Electric Beat, one coat Seche Vite.

i hope you're all having great weekends! Ria :)

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Constant Caribbean

today's jumping lesson was amazing... we worked on cross country for the first time :D i can't believe my first event is next weekend! this means i have to get myself a white polo by then... which is more difficult than it sounds because i'm shaped a little oddly, the shirt i found at Walmart was just totally wonk on me. a friend suggested Marshalls, so the awesome sport Mr. Pawlish will be venturing there with me tomorrow!

today's polish is CoverGirl Constant Caribbean. it's a teal pearl, not brushstrokey or glowy enough to be considered a frost (at least by me!). it does have some visible brushstrokes, but not too bad. it's opaque in only two coats, which surprised me because it goes on quite sheer for coat one! i would definitely add a shine topcoat to bring out the little shimmers in it.

two coats Constant Caribbean, one coat Seche Vite.

do you guys have exciting plans this weekend? i'm going on little 'double date' on Sunday! do you still call it a double date when you're old married people?! :D

Happy Friday! Ria :)

Orly Passion Fruit

my plans totally ended up changing today, which ended with me just riding Aramis... but i'm good with that :) since we are having an extra lesson tomorrow, i used today as our chill bareback day. he was super good, which is always nice. hopefully, he'll be in the mood to be good tomorrow at the jumping lesson :D

today's polish is Orly Passion Fruit, a super bright, saturated red-toned pink jelly. it's one that i consistently picked up at the store and put back... sucked in by the intense color, but always put back after seeing how thin it was in the bottle. i eventually gave in and bought it... but i probably shouldn't have! it is extremely thin, i have no idea how many coats you'd need for full opacity, i used three and there is still serious VNL... which, strangely, is not very obvious in the photo! trust me, in real life, it's there! it dries down to that strange rubbery finish some jellies get, but a coat of topcoat makes it super glossy and yummy.

three coats Passion Fruit, one coat Seche Vite.

this one looks far more red-toned on me than in the bottle, which was another disappointing thing. it is a bit more pink than it looks in the photo, though, my camera totally freaked out over this color. i really wanted to love this one, but it's just not for me. is this a color you'd rock? Ria :)

Zoya Yasmeen

today was perfection... i had a riding lesson in lovely weather, had lunch with a friend, then grabbed a Frappuccino for half off at Starbuck's Happy Hour. to top it off, the wonderful Mr. Pawlish made us tortellini for dinner... yummay :)

today's polish is Zoya Yasmeen. this is one those polishes that people tout as a 'must-have'... but it really doesn't look like much in the bottle. it's a warm purple shimmer... but somehow it's so much more! i'm definitely on board with saying this is one of the prettiest purples out there. it's rich and the color just has so much depth... the beauty just can't be captured in a photo, but i give it a shot :) it can be a patchy on coat one, but evens out and is completely opaque at coat two. it looks even better with a shine topcoat, which has the bonus of helping it dry! Zoya's never want to dry on me. my only complaint is that is wants to back off the tips a bit, but not enough to bother me in person... the camera sees so much more!

two coats Yasmeen, one coat Seche Vite.

i'm looking forward to tomorrow, i'm meeting up with friends at the barn for a ride! Ria :)

Yes To Grapefruit Brightening Facial Towelettes

headed over to the grocery store after riding Aramis this morning because i couldn't take another day without guacamole! sad, but true. i was a bit worried about Jewels (my dog) because she threw up this afternoon, but she seems to be feeling much better. my guess is she ate something she wasn't supposed to! it was probably a pretty funny scene because i heard her gag, then picked her up and ran through house to get her outside... because the only place she finds acceptable to puke inside is on the carpet... no easy to clean linoleum for her!

after that over-share, i have a great cleansing product for you today! these face wipes are essential to my daily routine, i'm absolutely obsessed with them. they are the Yes To Grapefruit Correct & Repair Brightening Facial Towelettes which claim to brighten and exfoliate your skin. i'm not sure that they really do either of those things, but they are amazing at taking off makeup (including regular mascara, but really can't do much for waterproof). i'm always so tired at night, i've been looking for a wipe for the super lazy... and this is the one! i no longer need to use a face wash in addition to these wipes... which is awesome.

here is the packaging...

i'm not in love with this next shot, but it really lets you see the texture in the wipe! it is super soft, though... i really don't feel any exfoliation going on :)

i'm using a few products from this line and they are supposed to fade sun damage... i'll keep you updated! let me know if there is a specific product you'd like a review on. hope you're all having great weeks! Ria :)

Meet Aramis!

i got a sweet comment recently asking to see pictures of the horse i ride, Aramis! i thought i'd devote a whole post to him, because... why not :D he's a 9-10 year half Thoroughbred, half Percheron cross... which gave him an adorable giant head. he's a bay with a white star in the middle of his forehead... so cute. i started riding him last year, and started leasing him this year. i ride him every weekday morning, which has really helped me get into shape!

how can you not love this mug?? this picture cracks me up!

on Fridays i like to have chill bonding days, and just ride him bareback :)

i'm learning how to jump, which is super exciting... it's been my dream since i was tiny little girl!

he's just so very handsome :)

any other riders out there? or animal lovers in general? i'll probably do a post next week on my doggies. let me know what other things you all would like to see posts on! Ria :)

Julep Paris

Mr. Pawlish and i had CPK for lunch today, it was delicious as usual! i went over the bareMinerals counter because i felt like my new foundation was too pink, but after looking through the shades, i decided it was the best possible match. the lady there today convinced to buy the Ready Mineral Veil to use over it... so, i'll be trying it all out and will review it after a bit! we spent the rest of the day hanging out with the dogs at home :)

today's polish is Julep Paris, the last of my May 2013 Julep Maven 'It Girl' box. it's a beautiful glitter with gold, silver, and pink hex pieces that are all holographic! there are also tiny holo pieces... the combo makes for a striking look! it's a little tough to work with, it wants to clump a bit and not spread evenly, so some placing will be necessary. at first i didn't think it was worth the extra work... but my mind has changed! i layered it over my Julep Coco mani and i got loads of compliments on the look, it's really fun and beautiful. a coat of topcoat smooths it out and makes everything shiny!

one coat Julep Paris, one coat Seche Vite... all over my Julep Coco mani.

i hope you've all had a fantastic weekend! Ria :)

Julep Coco

had a great lesson today, Aramis behaved himself which always makes for a great day in itself! afterwards Mr. Pawlish and i had lunch with my friend, then headed to the grocery store for some much needed supplies... and as i'm typing i just remembered that i forgot the guacamole. bums :( i forgot it the week before, too!

today's polish is Julep Coco from my May 2013 Julep Maven 'It Girl' box! it's an oxblood red crelly (creme/jelly hybrid!). i'm really impressed with the formula, it's opaque in only two coats... some polishes in this finish are difficult to get up to full opacity! it dries quite glossy on its own, i did add topcoat to aid in drying.

two coats Coco, one coat Seche Vite.

check back tomorrow for the glitter from May's box! Ria :)

Friday, May 3, 2013

Julep Clara

my riding lesson got moved to tomorrow, but my friend invited me to lunch instead! we headed over to a local farmer's market and got these amazing, huge strawberries... California fruits and veggies are so much better than other places in the country for sure. we also went to an adorable Hawaiian themed restaurant for cocktails and a light lunch... i had the best Bahama Mama :D

today's polish is Julep Clara from my May 2013 Julep Maven 'It Girl' box! it's a light peach creme with orange undertones, i thought this would go very mannequin hands on me, but surprisingly it's bright enough to not give that look at all. it just gives a very fresh, fun chic vibe. the formula is nice, streaky on coat one, but evens out nicely and is completely opaque on coat two! it dries glossy on its own, but like most polishes i need a topcoat to help dry it! i have no idea what is up with my skin chemistry that keeps polish from drying?! so weird.

two coats Clara, one coat Seche Vite.

i'm planning on doing the other two May Julep polishes over the next two days, so be sure to check back! Happy Friday! Ria :)

Julep Maven :: May 2013 It Girl Box

didn't end up riding today because the arenas were being dragged... so Aramis lucked out and just got cookies! :D i came home and had to battle with a smoke alarm... it kept going off, but being silent while i sat under them to try and determine which it was. then when i went back downstairs... BEEP BEEP BEEP and crying dogs! eventually it got insistent and went off enough that i knew which one it was and ripped the battery out mid-BEEP... guess i'll be buying a new battery this weekend!

today i'd like to share with you all the contents of my May 2013 Julep Maven 'It Girl' box! it has a very 1920's glam vibe, i'm thinking they are capitalizing on the new 'The Great Gatsby' movie. the colors i received are all ones i would pick out for myself, which is always nice!

peek in the box... notice the extra treatie this month is adorable rose hairpins!

and here are the colors! i'm loving that oxblood Coco right off the bat :)

i hope you are all having a fantastic week... and if you aren't, take heart, tomorrow is Friday! Ria :)

Pixi Fluoro Flamingo

absolutely lovely day today... the weather was beautiful, my riding lesson went really well, and i had lunch with my friends! doesn't get better than that :)

today's polish is Fluoro Flamingo, the last of the Summer 2013 Pixi polishes (kindly provided to me for review!). it's a super bright pink creme that's not quite neon, but close! i love bright polishes, and this one is perfect to usher in the warmer weather :D the formula is really nice, two coats for full opacity (if you apply polish really thinly, it might take you three... i myself apply polish pretty thickly!). it's not streaky or chalky like some polishes in this color family can be, plus it dries shiny! i did add topcoat to aid in the drying process.

two coats Fluoro Flamingo, one coat Seche Vite.

Pixi is available online at PixiBeauty.com and Target.com, as well as in Target stores, retailing for $8!

i hope you have enjoyed seeing these new offerings from Pixi, i have surely enjoyed trying them out! which of them are you considering picking up?

Happy Wednesday!! Ria :)

:: this polish was sent to me for review, these are my honest opinions! ::
