Lancome Lip & Nail Trios 2013

i can't believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving! time just really flies when you don't want it to. do you guys have fun plans? Mama Pawlish, Mr. Pawlish and i are going to a huge gathering of military families... at least 65 people! pretty crazy :)

today we have the Lancome Lip & Nail Trios! you get a full size Color Fever Gloss and two full size Vernis In Love nail polishes for only $32... according to the box that's a $64 value! best of all, Macy's will have these for $25 on Black Friday... i would recommend getting them early because i doubt they'll last at that price!

Baby, It's Cold Outside has darker colors, while Miss Mistletoe has a pastel and a lovely pink. sorry these box pictures aren't the greatest, my camera freaked out over the sparkly packaging!

here's a closeup look at the products, including their individual names! Madame Tulipe is a bit more burgundy than it looks in the photo!

will you be grabbing these? i'm super excited because (believe it or not) i have never tried a Lancome polish before! Ria :)

Lancome Lipcolor, Gloss & Liner Set... New Year's Eve Neutrals

one thing that's great about the holidays is that most large cosmetic companies put out gift sets that have lots of product for an awesome. Lancome is my very favorite brand, and i had to take advantage of some of the deals they have put out this year! over the next couple days i'll show which i chose :)

first up we have the Lancome Lipcolor, Gloss & Liner Set in New Year's Eve Neutrals. it comes with a Color Design lipstick in Vintage Rose, a Color Fever Gloss in Heatstroke, a Le Lipstique Mini lip liner in Sheer Natural, and an adorable greY makeup bag... all for only $40.00! (according to the box that's a $66 value) i love that these colors all work amazingly together, but also can be used with different combinations... and the gloss and lipstick each look fantastic on their own! all are a variation of a mauvey blue-toned rose.

here's a look at the box!

all the products together...

and finally, a closeup of the products!

i got this at Macy's, but it's available at most places Lancome is sold. double check that it comes with the same products, as i think i've seen a different lipstick in some of the New Year's Eve Neutrals sets!

check back tomorrow for another Lancome gift set! Ria :)

Book Review... Glam Nail Studio by Amber-Elizabeth Stores

i have something super exciting and special to share with you all today... the book Glam Nail Studio: Tips to Create Salon-Perfect Nails by Amber-Elizabeth Stores! it was kindly provided to me for review, and i couldn't be more grateful :) Amber-Elizabeth Stores is a celebrity manicurist that's know as 'The Queen of Shellac'. this book is everything you could want, all in a sleek little package.

all of the following pictures show content that is the property of Race Point Publishing, 2013!

Glam Nail Studio starts out with the basics, from the structure of nails to historical nail trends. it will guide you through what you need to take care of your nails (both hands and feet!), and from there, how to take care of those tools.

here's a look at page 12, which illustrates the structure of the nail!

next up Glam Nail Studio guides you through all sorts of nail polishes and treatments... including the best colors for your individual skin tone! page 46 is my skin tone; i love that it's illustrated, not just stated in the text... this way you can actually see how the different colors look with your skin.

in addition to teaching you all about polishes and nail art products (including add-ons, like crystals and studs!), Glam Nail Studio also provides information on things like Reflexology and even manicures for pets!

page 98 starts the look at Reflexology, the chapter includes charts for both the hands and feet.

the most exciting part of the book comes up last... nail art tutorials! they are so creative, and each is step-by-step explained in detail so that you will be able to recreate it yourself.

page 180 and 181 details the adorable frosted cupcake design!

as you can see, i needed a heavy bookmark to hold open the book for pictures... that would be my only complaint at all... i would love to see this book in a spiral bound edition. however, the content makes up for it! the book is hardcover and 224 pages... including a handy glossary and index at the end.

Glam Nail Studio is available from www.RacePointPub.com, www.Amazon.com, and anywhere books are sold! it retails for $25. this is the direct link to the book's page on Amazon... at the time of publishing this blog post it's priced at $18.22!

i hope you enjoyed this look at Glam Nail Studio by Amber-Elizabeth Stores. i can't recommend it highly enough, it's worth every penny! i'm so thankful i had the opportunity to review this book... i actually had never even heard of it until i was contacted about it. will you be picking up your own copy?

Happy Monday! Ria :)

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Play Koi

headed out to the barn this morning and took Bodie for a walk... then mucked Aramis's paddock. what a mess that was! it rained a lot yesterday, and that just made for a really nasty, not to mention heavy, situation. i figured that it would get worse instead of better if i waited, so i just went for it :)

today's polish is Sally Hansen Triple Shine Play Koi, a bright orangey red creme. this is my time trying out a Triple Shine polish and i had high hopes for it... but i was a bit disappointed. this polish is pretty sheer, it was mostly opaque after three coats... but i was hoping for a really opaque, vinyl shine polish. it delivers in the shine department... but it flat refused to dry on me. after about an hour, i went ahead and added a coat of Seche Vite... but all that shine you see in the swatch is all Play Koi!

three coats Play Koi.

all in all, i probably won't be buying too many more of these... probably just glitters. for cremes, Sally Hansen has other lines that are far superior! what do you think? Ria :)

China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze... There's Snow One Like You

Jewelsie is hating this rain... she'd rather hold it all day than get her feet wet going outside! she was the same way last year... i was hoping she'd grow out of it, but no such luck. she's going to have get used to it, we have months of rain ahead of us!

today's polish is another Happy HoliGlaze from China Glaze, There's Snow One Like You. i didn't get sent this one, but i just had to try it... i found it at Sally Beauty Supply! it's the only Texture in the Happy HoliGlaze collection, and is a white creme with white glitter. i wasn't sure how i felt about it, but after wearing it i fell completely in love. it looks like rough drywall, with flashes of shine from the glitter. the bad news... it's really, really hard to work with. after two coats, it's still has some sheer spots... but there's no way to add more without it becoming a total mess. i highly recommend putting it over an opaque white polish... two coats will give a nice, textured, opaque look! even over something else, i have to say it's one of the most difficult polishes to apply, it chunks up and sticks together... but i do think it's worth it if you like the look. however, plan to be patient!! since it's a Texture, you don't use a topcoat... but i did find that it got a bit stained (of course, i do spend a lot of time in the dirt working with horses!).

two coats There's Snow One Like You.

two coats There's Snow One Like You over two coats China Glaze White On White and Seche Vite.

for some reason, it didn't photograph as textured very much when it's layered... but it was really textured in person! have you guys tried this one out? what did you think? Ria :)

A Bit of Polish Haulage!

i've gotten quite a few bottles over the last couple days... which is exactly why i try and stay out of those kinds of stores :D however, some deals at Marshalls were just too good to pass up... like a whole set of Magnetix for $7.99! what?! it doesn't come with the magnets, but i did see them at Ulta on clearance (i already bought them on clearance awhile ago).

i just couldn't believe these were only $7.99!

at Marshalls i also got these SpaRitual polishes and a couple beat up Orlys. the SpaRitual set came with a little bag, but i already gave that away :)

here's all the random loose polishes i've gotten... some were good deals, and some were lemmings like the three from the Zoya holiday collection! i also grabbed the white texture from China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze collection (There's Snow One Like You), i just have to try it :) i hadn't seen or heard anything about those Rimmels... and they were on sale for only $1.99 at CVS! the Essence is a beauty in the bottle, hopefully it will be on the nail... and i want to see just how good the new Sally Hansen Triple Shine line is so i got creme... i feel like you best see how a line performs by its cremes!

hope you've enjoyed seeing my recent buys, let me know if it inspires you to pick anything up! Ria :)

November 2013 ipsy Glam Bag

went shopping with Mama Pawlish today, found some great stuff! you guys should definitely check your local Marshalls, they had loads of nail polishes... even some fancy sets from Ciate. check back tomorrow to see what i bought :)

it's time again for my ipsy Glam Bag! i really love the bag this time, which makes me happy because the last two have been kind of boring... this one totally makes up for those!

here's the bag... love the gold snakeskin!

everything was so covered up in the bag, i thought i'd take a picture of all the products by themselves.

it came with two gorgeous red lip products and a champagne colored Nailtini polish! i'm very interested in trying the lipstick, as it's from Michelle Phan's new makeup line.

i was super excited to find a Pixi bronzer... tried it today and it's awesome! the eye shadow and liner are really beautiful, too :)

i'm going to try and take my hair to a brighter shade of red tomorrow... hopefully it goes well! while i was debating colors at Target, a guy walked by and told me which one to go with, which was pretty hilarious :D

Happy Friday! Ria :)

China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze... Santa Red My List

i can't begin to tell you all how happy my new contacts make me... for the first time in over a year i can see road signs! and boy is that helpful :D today was beautiful, walked Aramis and rode Bodie bareback... and finally had a nice, confident canter. i'm super happy as that has been a big goal of mine for awhile now!

today we have the last of the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze polishes i have to share... Santa Red My List (kindly provided to me for review!). it's a red foil that leans extremely pink on me... really pretty. the formula is so easy to work with, two easy coats for full opacity. just make sure to wipe your brush off a bit before application so you don't run the risk of flooding your cuticles! it's beautiful on its own, but it really comes alive with sparkles after a coat of topcoat :)

two coats Santa Red My List, one coat China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat (also provided for review!).

you can find China Glaze at many beauty supply stores like Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply!

i am so appreciative of the opportunity to try out these polishes. which was your favorite? i think mine is All Wrapped Up! Ria :)

China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze... Bells Will Be Blinging

went to the eye doctor today and had my eyes dilated... does anyone else hate doing that?? it takes forever for my eyes to get back to normal, so annoying. the good news is that my eyes look good and they were able to fix my contact prescription... so, hopefully i'll be able to see road signs now :D

tonight's China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze polish is Bells Will Be Blinging (kindly provided to me for review!). it's a fun glitter, full of small blue pieces and a few holographic bars, all in a clear base. it's pretty dense and gives quite a bit of coverage in one coat... i really love how it looks that way. all that's left to do is add topcoat to bring out all the sparkle!

one coat Bells Will Be Blinging, one coat China Glaze Fast Forward Topcoat, all over China Glaze Mingle With Kringle (all three of these were provided for review!).

you can find China Glaze at many beauty supply stores like Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply!

i can't even tell you how awesome this combo looks in the sunshine... you just get loads of golden blue metallic goodness. check back tomorrow for the last of the Happy HoliGlaze polishes i have to share with you all! Ria :)

China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze... Mingle With Kringle

got my muck boots back from the shoemaker, they are definitely bigger but i don't think it's enough. i'm not sure whether to order up a half or a whole size, though! luckily i can still wear them, they just aren't the most comfortable. they are so cute, though!!

today's China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze polish is Mingle With Kringle (kindly provided to me for review!). it's a beautiful gold foil that really makes it look like you have gold gilt on your nails. there are amber flecks mixed in with the gold that gives the polish its depth. best news, the formula is really easy to work with and is full opaque in two coats! a coat of topcoat really makes all the sparkle really come out and shine.

two coats Mingle With Kingle, one coat China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat (also provided for review!).

Happy Tuesday! Ria :)

China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze... All Wrapped Up

total lazy day today, spent at home with Mr. Pawlish! yesterday i went horse shopping with friends... just for fun :) definitely won't be buying anything while i'm still in California. he got both cars detailed in the morning... glad to have our car waxed finally! we watched some Indiana Jones tonight, love those movies and i found them cheap on dvd at a yard sale recently... we'd never gotten around to replacing our vhs versions.

today's China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze polish is All Wrapped Up (kindly provided to me for review!). it's a full coverage blurple (blue/purple!) glitter that really sparkles. the glitter is pretty fine, but quite dense so only two coats are needed for full opacity... how awesome is that?! a coat of topcoat really brings out all the glitter, making it just come alive.

two coats All Wrapped Up, one coat China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat (also provided for review!).

you can find China Glaze at many beauty supply stores like Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply!

thank you so much to all our veterans, Happy Veterans Day! Ria :)

China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze... Your Present Required

sad news... Aramis is out of commission for six months, so i won't be riding him anymore :( i will still be hanging out with him and taking him for walks, though! now we just have to see what shakes out with who i'll be riding instead.

today's polish is Your Present Required from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze collection (kindly provided to me for review!). it's a fun multi-glitter with different sized pieces of gold, blue, white, and pink... all in a clear base! there is a sparse amount of large hex pieces, but those don't come out on every nail. however, all the other glitter spreads out pretty evenly over the nail and there is minimal need for placing! i love how it looks with one coat, i think you need at least four or five to get it opaque on its own. i tried it out over China Glaze Elfin' Around (also provided for review) and was surprised how great it looks over red! a coat of topcoat seals in the glitter AND brings out more shine :)

one coat Your Present Required, one coat China Glaze Fast Forward Topcoat (also provided for review), both over China Glaze Elfin' Around.

you can find China Glaze at many beauty supply stores like Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply!

i just love it when a surprising combination looks great... these would be excellent party nails! Ria :)

China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze... Elfin' Around

ran some errands today, went to pick up my muck boots from getting them stretched... but they weren't big enough so we're going to try them one more time. i think i'm just going to have to get a bigger size. dragged Mama Pawlish to Boot Barn with me because i thought i wanted some red cowboy boots i had seen there before... but after trying them on again i changed my mind. there was a cuter pair of red ones that i wanted, but weren't Ariat and so didn't fit my feet as well. i'll just keep looking :)

today's polish kicks off my reviews of the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze collection (kindly provided to me for review!)! it's Elfin' Around, a red foil with strong orange undertones... China Glaze describes it as a 'red rust with an aluminum-like mirror finish'. foils are some of my fave finishes, and this one is no exception. i love how they just seem to make your nails glow! the formula is great, two easy coats for full opacity... just make sure to keep your strokes even to make sure you don't get some wonky brushstrokes! a coat of topcoat brings out all those shimmers.

two coats Elfin' Around, one coat China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat (also provided for review!).

you can find China Glaze at many beauty supply stores like Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply!

my friends are going horse shopping tomorrow... and i'm tagging along to drool! Ria :)

c. Booth Green Apple Micro Dermabrasion Scrub

today was absolutely gorgeous! such a perfect barn day. walked Aramis... my friend helped me check  him and he is sadly still lame :( i walked Aramis and then rode Bodie... it's Tuesday, no stirrup day! i can tell i haven't been doing it for a couple weeks... my thighs were burning big time, gotta get those muscles back.

today's product is c. Booth Green Apple Micro Dermabrasion Scrub! i really love face scrubs and i have tried bunches... this one is way above your average scrub. if you really want to remove dead skin, this is the scrub to do it. it really makes your skin SO smooth, i'm always in awe! it has both granules and malic and lactic acid to aid in exfoliation. the granules are pretty hard core, if you're sensitive to things scratching your face, you might want to say away from this one. it's strong enough that it's only recommended for once or twice a week usage! my face has broken out really badly lately, so i pulled this out and it made a difference overnight... apparently, leaving out exfoliating from my face routine really tick off my skin. i had stopped using it for a bit and kind of forgot just how much i like it!

here's the tube... you can find it at Rite Aid!

i love how bright my face looks after using this product, it just really brings out the healthy look of your skin! have any of you tried this scrub? what did you think? Ria :)

Orly Angel Rain

nothing too exciting today, spent a good chunk of it at the barn... which was lovely because the weather was really great today. walked Aramis and rode Bodie, so both boys got out today :) i think that's the plan until Aramis is back to his usual healthy, cranky self!

today's polish is Orly Angel Rain. it's a pastel blue duochrome with flashes of pink and green... super pretty! the only downfall of this baby would be its brushstrokes... but if you're careful they aren't too bad, and i think this one is nice enough to overlook any little brushstrokes. it's a bit sheer, but i got full coverage in three coats. i also tried it over black, which looked great with two coats. the black helped pull out a bit more of the pink! a coat of topcoat helps dry all that polish.

ring and pointer have three coats Angel Rain, pinkie and middle have one coat Essence Black Is Back and two coats Angel Rain, both topped with one coat of Seche Vite!

you can see a lot of air bubbles in the swatch... those weren't nearly as noticeable in person! Happy Monday! Ria :)

Orly Matte FX Pink Flakie Topcoat

hit up a community yard sale today, but didn't find much... basically just got all four of the Indiana Jones movies on dvd. i've been casually looking for them, and $15 for the lot worked for me! we also went to the PX for some makeup... which i then had to bring back to exchange because the blush had been used... a LOT. it was all gross and there was dent in the product where it had been used so much. luckily, they didn't give me any trouble so i'm now the happy owner of a brand new Lancome Shimmer Violet Sunrise :) after lunch we headed over to Tuesday Morning... they had MeMoi leggings for $19.99 (retail $45), i've never tried that brand before, but the leggings are nice and thick so i have high hopes!

today's polish is Pink Flakie Topcoat from the Orly Matte FX collection. it's an opalescent flakie in a super sheer pink base that dries down to a fairly matte finish. i say fairly matte because it's not as matte as it would be if you were to use a true matte topcoat. the flakes aren't hard to work with and you get nice coverage without placing in one coat. this polish is nice for someone who wants a matte-like look without having to mess around with adding an extra polish... but i like it even better when either a matte or a shine topcoat is added!

one coat Pink Flakie Topcoat, pinkie and middle have one coat Seche Vite, all over Orly Matte FX Purple Velvet.

i just love how matte flakies look like stained glass! Ria :)
