i have an exciting press release from Nail Polish Canada to share with you all today... they are giving away THREE Babyliss MiraCurls! check it out... it's possibly the cutest and most clever contest ever! as always, i'm not affiliated with this giveaway in any way, just bringing you info on opportunities :)

It’s a Christmas Miracurl! - NailPolishCanada.com is giving away 3 Babyliss Miracurl’s ($600 value)

Every holiday season millions experience a sense of sadness at the flatness in their life. In an effort to cope some find themselves straining important relationships.

“I know my husband loves me, but another day where I’m running late trying to curl my hair in a mad dash is just a fight waiting to happen”  - Katie B

Could people go without curled hair? They could, but experts agree such a lack of regard and care is sure to result in a coal filled stocking.

“After the economic downturn Santa has had limited resources and he too has to make cuts, it’s not only naughty or nice anymore, but how you present yourself.” noted Mrs. Claus

Today Nail Polish Canada has announced their plans to take a stand and solve this important issue with the Babyliss Miracurl. In just seconds the Miracurl literally sucks your hair right in, curls it, then beeps letting you know it's done.

In order to raise awareness Nail Polish Canada is giving away 3 Babyliss Miracurls, to whoever can convince us they are the most “in need” of one.

“This will impact people’s lives. Together we can make a Christmas Miracurl”

- Nikki Smith, VP Glitter *This is our favorite pun ever and we’ve been using it around the office for weeks

Simply describe why you or a loved one is in need of a Christmas Miracurl at: http://www.nailpolishcanada.com/products/miracurl-by-babyliss.html

In the spirit of a true Christmas Miracurl the winners will be announced Christmas Day!

Notes about nominations: Feel free to stretch the truth a bit and most importantly have fun.

Venique Sleepy Slippers

finally got back on Bodie today... and wouldn't you know it, he's lame now, too. i know, sounds like i'm a jinx! my knee wasn't thrilled that i started riding again, but i iced it when i got home and it will probably have the day off tomorrow because Mr. Pawlish is desperate to see the new Anchorman movie! i confess, i'm excited to see it, too :)

today is the last of the Venique polishes i have to share with you all (they are all press samples, kindly provided to me for review!). it's Sleepy Slippers, a gorgeous pewter foil... my personal favorite of the three! it has a pink undertone that makes it special and gives it a lot of depth. there are some brushstrokes, but i don't think they would bother most people. it applies really easily, one thick coat would be enough for some, and two coats is absolute perfection. a coat of topcoat brings out all the sparkles and (of course!) helps it dry.

two coats Sleepy Slippers, one coat Seche Vite.

Venique is a professional brand that is found in salons sold to professionals via Armstrong McCall and CosmoProf... i did spot it on Amazon and eBay, though, if you are simply a nail enthusiast like me!

hope you all have enjoyed this little peek into what Venique has to offer. i'm so appreciative of the opportunity to discover this new-to-me brand! Ria :)

Venique B-Utiful Bold

got the Christmas presents and cards shipped off today... that's a huge weight off! looks like they will all get where they are going by Christmas, which is awesome. bought some fun things by Butter London today, that haul will be up later this week :)

today's polish is Venique B-Utiful Bold, a red crelly (creme verging on jelly) (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review!). this polish has strong berry colored undertones, so i think it's one that will pull to different colors depending on your skin tone! i only needed two coats for full opacity, which is pretty awesome for this type of finish. it's quite shiny on its own, i mostly needed topcoat to help it dry!

two coats B-Utiful Bold, one coat Seche Vite.

tomorrow i will have one more Venique polish... a little spoiler, it's a gorgeous pewter! Ria :)

Venique Up To My Knees

decided to give my knee a couple more days since it's still twingey... it's loads better but still not 100% so i'm giving it until my lesson Wednesday... then no mercy! spent today doing a little swatching and getting a few things done for Christmas... soooo many cards have to go out tomorrow :)

today's polish is Venique Up To My Knees (press sample, kindly provided to me for review!). i had never heard of this brand, so i was excited to try it when i was offered the chance! Up To My Knees is a rose gold foil... i thought it would be more yellow, but on me it pulls much more pink. the formula is great, easy to work with and complete coverage in two coats... one coat would be enough if you use a thick coat! the Venique brush is nice, a medium thickness and dense enough for control, but not too dense that the brush no longer is pliable! i added topcoat to bring out all the sparkle of the foil and help it dry.

two coats Up To My Knees, one coat Seche Vite.

this would be a beautiful polish for a holiday party, so sparkly and fun. check tomorrow for another Venique polish! Ria :)

December 2013 ipsy Glam Bag

i'm back with December's ipsy Glam Bag! i've been taking it easy for the past few days due spraining my knee on Tuesday. i'm so glad it was just sprain and not anything serious! i'm hoping to be able to ride again on Monday, it's gotten a lot better but it's still not quite 100%.

this month's ipsy Glam Bag isn't quite as good as the November bag, but still nice! i love how cute the makeup bag is, shiny black that is textured in a dot pattern.

i'm super excited to try out the POP eyeshadows, they will make a great smoky eye! i probably won't use the eyelashes because i'm just not a fan of fake lashes... but these are really pretty.

last up, a lipstick from NYX in Cream, The One Stick in Girl Crush from Be A Bombshell, and a gorgeous taupe Nicka K nail polish in NY112!

hope you are all having fantastic weekends! Ria :)

EcoTools Haulage!

spent the morning at the barn, rode Bodie and cleaned Aramis's paddock. i had to intended to lunge Coolan, but when i started trotting him i realized he was a bit lame... i'm starting to feel a little cursed!

today i have all the new brushes i recently purchased from EcoTools to share with you all! most of them are from their Cyber Monday web deal, while one set i bought at Rite Aid. i love EcoTools because you get nice quality at an awesome price point. some of the brush fibers may not lie completely perfect, but you have to consider that they aren't $50 brushes... and i have seen $50 brushes that behave worse!

let's kick off with the big brush set... it was $30 on Cyber Monday, but they still have it on the website here for $45. even at $45 it's a great deal! you get nine brushes, including a multitasking face brush that's only available in the set. it also comes with a brush roll, which is super handy for travelling, or for keeping your brushes clean and tucked away at home if you don't like keeping them out.

here's a look at the brushes and roll!

i also ordered two extra brushes at only $5.99 a piece, a fan brush and a buffing brush!

here's all the brushes together from my EcoTools order! they are all super soft because they are made of completely synthetic fibers.

from Rite Aid i got this cute set from EcoTools's collection with Alicia Silverstone. the brushes are made with the old silver ferules, so i'm not sure how long ago this product was made, or if it's still being produced! i got mine on Sunday for $12.99.

i just had to try their take on a duofiber brush, as those are my fave face brushes, i was also glad to get the angled shadow brush!

it also came with a card that gives an idea of how to create her makeup look using these brushes. i'm amused that she's calls it a 'natural look'... smoky eyes (while probably my favorite eye look) are not what i consider natural :D

check out EcoTools has to offer at www.EcoTools.com! they are often running specials, today they have free shipping until Midnight with the code GREEN13

hope you enjoyed seeing my new EcoTools! have you picked up any of these? what did you think? if not, would you consider buying some in the future? Ria :)

Small Collective Haul

Mr. Pawlish and i had CPK for lunch today, which was really yummy... we haven't been in awhile and i'd almost forgotten how good their avocado club rolls are! after that we just spent the day at home with the dogs :)

today i thought i'd show you some things i'd picked up lately, these pictures have been sitting around for awhile so i thought i'd just make it a small post instead of waiting to get more!

i got this gold Sally Hansen InstaDri to stamp with... but i was really excited to see that Sally Hansen put out a line of nail art supplies! i picked up the pack with rhinestones and studs, but i was pretty tempted by the beads. i forced myself to remember that i always pick at the beads and they fall off in my gloves when i'm riding :D i found these at CVS.

from Target i got some liners from Pixi and an eyeshadow brush from Sonia Kashuk... love the liners, and i'm still trying out the brush! be really careful when buying from Target, people are always opening things and swatching them, so make sure you check things out before you buy. i forgot for the CopperGold liner and it had been swatched >.< if this happens to you, what i do is wipe it with alcohol and then sharpen away the exposed product!

lastly, i got another five pack of Barielles from Marshalls... these were on clearance!

hope you enjoyed this little glimpse of what i've been buying lately... check back tomorrow for my EcoTools brush haul, including what i ordered from them on Black Friday! Ria :)

Lancome Vernis In Love Pearl Grey

been fairly busy week, Thursday was pretty crazy because i spent most of it waiting for the UPS man, then the rest trying to get the new cell phones activated! the poor guy at Best Buy just couldn't get it right... and then (over three hours later!!) we thought he finally had so we headed out to dinner. which is when i realized that my phone was programmed with my mom's number and vice versa... that's the second time Best Buy has done that! i was really frustrated, but what can you do? so, back to Best Buy, where the same poor guy spent another hour trying to fix it. which he eventually did... and i love my new Samsung Galaxy S4... the video quality is pretty awesome, which is great since i always make Mr. Pawlish record me riding :)

today we have Lancome Vernis In Love Pearl Grey. this is my first ever time reviewing a Lancome polish... shocking since it's my favorite makeup brand. Pearl Grey is well named, it's a taupey greY with a pearl finish! i was nicely surprised by the formula, a little watery for my personal taste, but full coverage in only two coats. when you add topcoat, this polish just makes your hands look rich!

two coats Pearl Grey, one coat Seche Vite.

hope you're all having fantastic weekends! i spent my morning at the barn then had a great lunch... i think we're just hanging out at home tomorrow. Ria :)

Julep Maven :: December 2013 It Girl Box

today was lesson day... and Bodie got into one of his moods! i was really glad my trainer was there to teach me how to correctly work through it :) i was pretty ecstatic that i didn't fall off since i lost my stirrups at some point in the shenanigans. silly boy.

today is Julep Maven day! i got my December 2013 It Girl box, which a big surprise since i didn't remember ever getting an email about what was going to be in it this month! It Girl is the three polish box, other boxes get different products, this month was eyeshadows... but i'd rather have polish :) i really liked the three polishes this month, they're gorgeous and a fun take on holiday colors.

here's a look in the box... i was super excited to find that the extra treatie this month is my favorite type of hair twisties!

and here are the polishes themselves... i love that the green is a minty metallic!

i'm still pondering quitting Julep... but i just keep liking the polishes! Ria :)

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Cuticle Eraser + Balm

i'm having issues with my hair, i just can't get it to the bright red i want it to be. i'm thinking maybe some of the medicines i'm on are affecting the chemical process... but i'm just not sure. i did find a cool method using vitamin C to remove dye, though... post on that soon!

today we are checking out Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Cuticle Eraser + Balm. i bought this to replace my Essie Disappearing Trick (cuticle remover)... i wasn't unhappy with the Essie, just wanted to try something new. the Sally Hansen Cuticle Eraser + Balm is interesting because unlike most cuticle removers, it's meant to be rubbed into the skin and left alone... a lot of cuticle removers have to be washed off because they are so strong. balm is a very accurate description of this product, it's very similar to lip balms that come in tins! you just take a little on one finger and rub it into your entire cuticle area, all around the nail. i usually leave that on for about 5-10 minutes, then use an orange stick to push down my extra cuticles... i never cut them unless i have a hangnail! after that, i rub the product in some more, wait a few more minutes, then wash my hands. while you can leave it on, i don't like the greasy feeling it leaves. it does smell fairly strongly of cucumbers, but the scent doesn't bother me.

here's a look at the packaging!

and the product itself... it's so cute with the green and white swirls!

this product does moisturize well and does make your cuticles less noticeable. i do feel it doesn't remove them as well a traditional cuticle remover would, though!

you can find it most places Sally Hansen products are sold, i bought mine at CVS.

hope your week is going well! Ria :)

SpaRitual Kindness

i hope you all had great holiday weekends! mine was pretty lazy, just spending time with the family and dogs mostly. i had planned to go to Best Buy on Thanksgiving to take advantage of the free Samsung phone deal, but i was able to order it over the phone... so no standing in line for hours, which was AWESOME. looking forward to having it in my hot little hands on Thursday!

for Thanksgiving i wore SpaRitual Kindness, a saturated, dusty orange that's chock full of golden shimmer. i was worried that it would be sheer... but SpaRitual didn't let me down, only two easy coats for full opacity! it looks even better with a couple coats of topcoat to bring out all the shimmer... the polish kind of absorbed the first coat :)

two coats Kindness, two coats Seche Vite.

Happy Monday! Ria :)
