Pixi Lime Lustre

lazy Saturday, mostly spent running errands. i'm so irritated with myself because i had to re-buy my moisturizer... i bought it last week, but can't find it! the other thing i'd bought with it is put away, so i don't know if it didn't get put in the bag at the store, or its just somewhere in my house. since it won't go bad for awhile, i figure at least i'll still be able to use both, if the original should ever decide to show up :) i also got my hair trimmed... seems like my hair keeps getting shorter and shorter when i want to it to get longer and longer! still dealing with the damage from when i first moved to California... crazy that two years later the ends are still a mess. hoping that one day i'll have long, healthy hair again!

today's polish is Pixi Lime Lustre (kindly provided to me for review!). i love this type of color, it's a pastel minty green with warmer undertones than some in its vein. it also boasts a subtle shimmer! it mostly looks like a green shimmer, but at just the right angle you catch sight of some peachy pink. the formula is nice, it was fully opaque and streak free at two medium coats. a coat of topcoat to seal everything in and bring out the shimmer makes it perfect!

two coats Lime Lustre, one coat Butter London Nail 999 Rescue Topcoat.

these polishes retail for $8. you can find Pixi products at Target stores,, and!!

hope you are all having fantastic weekends! Ria :)

Pixi Sizzling Sunshine

woo, got the oil changed successfully on Mr. Pawlish's car... but then the car wouldn't talk to the emissions facilities computer! so very frustrating. so now we have to find out what's wrong with the computer... which has to wait until next week since the mechanic couldn't take it today. i'm telling you, it's always something with that car! in other news, i'm so excited to be starting my lease on Echo the mare next week :) headed over to Dover Saddlery yesterday to get some supplies... man, i could happily take up residence in a tack store! i'm going to sell a few things (hopefully... there don't really seem to be used tack places around here, guess that means Craigslist) like my old girth and perhaps my bridles. i'm hoping we can get them to fit Echo, but if not i'll sell them and get a new one just for her :)

today i have Pixi Sizzling Sunshine to share with you all! (kindly provided to me for review!) it's part of their new release colors, i have two more to share in the next couple posts :) Sizzling Sunshine is a happy yellow with a super subtle shimmer. it mostly stays hidden except when the light hits it just right... but it does lend depth to the color! the formula is a little tricky, i tried two thick coats and got lots of bubbles, three thin coats worked much better. i topped it with topcoat to bring out all the this polish has to offer!

three coats Sizzling Sunshine, one coat Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top Coat.

these polishes retail for $8. you can find Pixi products at Target stores,, and!!

Happy Friday! Ria :)

Julep Maven :: April 2014 It Girl Box

today i'm getting stuff done for Mr. Pawlish's car, it needed an oil change and to get the emissions tested... hopefully the oil will be done in time to get the emissions done! too bad they couldn't be done at the same place. i'm super excited because i've finally found a barn and a horse :) i'm going to start leasing a mare named Echo next week, and i have a dressage lesson on her tomorrow! it took a long time, but i finally found a place that gives me that yummy, happy feeling... just what i was looking for.

now that it's almost June, i'm going to share the April 2014 Julep Maven It Girl box with you all! i forgot about cancelling it while i was travelling, the May one should have come through the forwarding system but it appears to have gotten lost. bummer. since i had paid for two more boxes, i had enough points to get the June box for free... hopefully, i will remember to actually cancel my membership this month!

i loved the colors in April's box, so it wasn't to annoying that i had forgotten to cancel :D the little extra treatie that month was a couple candies.

here's a close up of the colors! i'm super disappointed because the lid is cracked on Flora, the purple one. i feel like i have an extra lid somewhere, hoping to find it!

i forgot to put the quote card in the box overview picture, so here it is. i really love this quote, it's a great description of how i try and live my life!

i also have two ipsy Glam Bags to share, look for those coming soon... and also three new polishes from Pixi! Ria :)

Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray and The Makeup Primer Spray | Oil Control Reviews

i'm super excited about today's post... when i got the opportunity to review a Skindinavia product, i definitely jumped at the chance! i've always been interested in their products, but hadn't ever tried any. their newest products are really revolutionary (in my opinion!)... makeup primers in SPRAY form. what an amazing idea!

i was lucky enough to be sent both Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray and Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray | Oil Control to test out. i figured that the oil control version would be the best fit for me, but i was glad to be able to compare the two.

here's a look at the packaging... Skindinavia recently revamped their whole look and i love it!

The Makeup Primer Spray and The Makeup Primer Spray | Oil Control both retail for $35 for 4oz and $49 for 8oz.

The Makeup Primer Spray is applied after moisturizer but before starting your makeup routine. i spray my face in while making a T, then an X as the bottle advises, then i put my face in front of a fan to help it dry more quickly. my little desk fan isn't unpacked yet, so i'm currently using a giant floor fan! works just the same :) both these sprays really help prolong the wear of your makeup... The Makeup Primer Spray helps my makeup to not break up and stay on longer... while The Makeup Primer Spray | Oil Control does that AND really helps keep my face matte. i would say this is the best product at controlling oil i've tried to date... and that's saying something as i've tried loads!

i did try using The Makeup Primer Spray | Oil Control over a traditional silicone based primer meant to blur pores... i found that it actually did not work as well over the silicone primer. i find that that my pores aren't quite as noticeable when using The Makeup Primer Sprays, and i much prefer The Makeup Primer Sprays over any traditional silicone primers... i actually returned the silicone primer i bought earlier this month today!

to replace it, i ordered The Makeup Primer Spray | Oil Control from the Skindinavia website yesterday! i also ordered The Makeup Finishing Spray | Oil Control... i will be sure to review that once i've tested it out :) if you are interested in both priming and setting sprays, there are special kits that save you money (i bought The Makeup Artist Kit | Oil Control in 8oz for $60... saving $28!).

also, the website is having a free shipping/free sample offer on orders over $40! sadly, tomorrow (Friday 23, 2014) is the last day... i apologize for not having the review up sooner!

please let me know if you take advantage of the offer and what you think of the products!

hope you are all fantastic! Ria :)

Salon Perfect Kaboom

it's me again! i'm still trying to get settled in... i always freak out when i move. to say i don't handle change well is an understatement! i reallllly need to suck it up since i've got over a decade of moves in my future... Navy life :) i'm still on the hunt for a barn, i thought i'd found the perfect one, but it turned out to be totally imperfect with a horse that came with a risk of... you know... death. i'm actually heading out in a couple hours to tour another facility. the search continues!

today i have Salon Perfect Kaboom to share with you all. i have searched and searched for this polish, i can't believe i finally found it in the town i grew up in while passing through on the way to Maryland! this polish is from sooo many collections ago, i guess i was just meant to have it :)  boy, i sure hope the Walmart here has Salon Perfect! i haven't made it over there to check, yet... soon, hopefully! Kaboom is the best dupe of the famous Floam... i don't have Floam but you can check out a comparison of the two on Samarium's Swatches here! i dreamed of Floam for years... i can happily say that i no longer need it, i'm quite happy with Kaboom! it's a matte glitter polishes full of tiny blue and green particles... it doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty cool! i used two coats over a white base to get an opaque look, it really is reminiscent of Nickelodeon's Floam from childhood :) this one is a topcoat eater, i just added one to seal it, but didn't try to get it smooth and shiny.

two coats China Glaze White On White, two coats Kaboom, one coat Butter London Nail 999 Rescue Topcoat.

you can see the glitter makes it a little bumpy on the tips, so be aware that this can be a bit of a rough mani! you can find Salon Perfect polishes at Walmart (if your store carries them!).

Happy Wednesday! Ria :)

Influenster Mary Kay VoxBox

nothing too exciting going on today, went to Fatburger for lunch because i'm more than a little obsessed, then got a few groceries. spent the afternoon getting things photographed for blog posts... i (of course!) still forgot some things, but that's okay. i've got a couple ipsy bags and a Julep box that i will sharing over the next few posts... but i wanted to start with the Influenster Mary Kay VoxBox!

i'm so excited about this VoxBox, when i got the survey to see if you were a good fit for the Mary Kay box i was crossing all my fingers and toes that i would get one :D my mind is pretty well blown by how many products were in it... and they're full-size! sending a huge thank you to Influenster and Mary Kay for the opportunity to try these products!

how cute is this box?! love all the pink, of course :)

i will start off with the brushes, then move on to makeup products... and finish up with swatches!

the two brushes are a fluffy powder face brush (Mary Kay Powder Brush) and a synthetic flat brush for concealer and cream eye products (Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush). powder brushes are some of my faves, so i can't wait to try it out! it's a bit smaller than i usually like to use as an all-over face brush, i think it's more one i will use for blush.

next up is the Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner in Jet Black... which also comes with an Expandable Brush Applicator. it comes apart and the lid pops on the end to make it into a longer brush. i feel like the brush isn't as pointy as i would like in order to easily line my lids, but the eyeliner itself is really creamy... not to mention long-wearing! the swatch absolutely did not want to come off... always a great sign :)

next up is Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara. it has a small, curved plastic brush, interested in seeing how well it applies!

keeping with the eye theme, there is Mary Kay Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist. it's a really pretty light, shimmery apricot color... well-named!

for the lips there is Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss in Mango Tango. it's a lot more red than i would expect for a 'mango', i would call this more of an orange-toned red. it's middle of the road pigmentation wise, not super opaque, but enough to give you some color if you wear it alone.

moving on to face products... we have a Mary Translucent Loose Powder. it's a very fine, white powder that can be used on all skin-tones. i love that the packaging has a sifter that can be open and closed again... makes it much easier to store!

for the cheeks, there is Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush. it's a peachy pink with a gold reflex... exactly the type of color i'd choose! there is also Mary Kay Bronzing Powder in Light-Medium, which is nice and pigmented... if a touch more orange-toned than i usually go for. it's definitely still workable for me!

last up... swatches!

oh, and one more thing... here's the card that came with everything... explaining it all way better than me :D

make sure to check out Mary Kay at! you can find an Independent Beauty Consultant in your area that will assist you in all your Mary Kay beauty needs :)

i hope you enjoyed this look into the Influenster Mary Kay VoxBox! let me know if you'd like in-depth reviews on any of the products, or would like to see makeup looks done with them. also, let me know if you'd like an invite to Influenster so you can try out new products yourself!

Happy Thursday! Ria :)

Salon Perfect Bloom in Color Collection Press Release

just got through ordering some new glasses... i hadn't gotten new ones in four or five years... and my prescription has been changing so it's time! they are on the geek chic side, which is new for me. since the store was having a 20% off sale, i had to pick something to take advantage of the deal!

today i have the Salon Perfect Bloom in Color collection press release to share with you all! i'm so impressed with Salon Perfect polishes, i'm hoping the Walmart closest to me sells it. i couldn't find them anywhere in California, but the town i grew up in Virginia had them so fingers crossed :D

i love the new colors, not to mention the nail art kits. the studs sound so awesome... here's hoping i will be able to get my little paws on them! hope you all are having great weeks! Ria :)

bareMinerals/Butter London Event at Fort Meade PX!

i wanted to share with you all the fun bareMinerals and Butter London event i attended today at the Fort Meade, Maryland PX... plus, it's going on tomorrow, too... so those of you with military or dependant ID cards in the area should definitely go if you're free! it will start around 11 and go through the afternoon... sorry, i'm a bit sketchy on details!

there is a big display set up in the front of the PX with two bareMinerals makeup stations. both Mama Pawlish and i got our makeup done with new liquid foundation from bareMinerals, bareSkin. it's pretty nice, i have to say! i absolutely love getting my makeup done, so this was a lovely treat :)

here's one of the lovely girls who got their makeup done after me by the fantastic makeup artist that did my makeup! a big thank you to them for consenting to be famous :D

on the Butter London side, you can get a nail painted to try out the color and try out the great lotion. here's a photo of another gracious lady who consented to be featured!

i bought three Butter London polishes... what can i say, i can't resist! i was also given this adorable Butter London hand mirror that looks like a polish... i'm completely in love :)

let me know if you make it out to the event tomorrow! either way, have a fantastic weekend! Ria :)

ULTAmate Rewards Haul!

whew, it's a new week! we went grocery shopping today... i just can't believe how much food costs these days. i found out the store on base here is having a bareMinerals and Butter London event on Friday... can't wait to see what Butter London is offering up!

today i want to share with you what i got with my ULTAmate Rewards! i had around $130, i think a little more, to spend on anything in the Ulta store... doesn't get better than that :) i used them while i was still in California, because the store there was concerned about my points still being available in another state. i don't think it would have been a problem, but i didn't want to risk over 2000 points!

without further ado, let's get into it!

i got a bunch of Real Techniques brushes... they were buy one, get one 50% off so that meant i could get even more with my rewards dollars :D i'm so impressed with Real Techniques... can't believe i waited so long to give them a go!

i got the purple CK One mascara (Trip)... i'm totally into CK One mascaras, they are awesome! i also got a pair of Tweezerman Tweezers... i've always wanted a pair but balked at spending $25 on one pair. which is strange, because i've paid more than that for one brush... i just don't know how my brain justifies things sometimes! :)

lastly, i got some Trina travel cosmetic bags for Mama Pawlish and me to use on our journey across the country... they worked out perfectly!

this first one is Mama Pawlish's...

and here's mine!  i especially loved mine, as it has a section that top opens for makeup, and then a section specifically for brushes. absolutely perfect for a makeup junkie... it keeps things together AND limits you so that you can't bring your entire collection :D

if you aren't an ULTAmate Rewards member, i highly recommend you sign up... it's free! check out my post on it here! i got all this stuff and only spent $20 out of pocket... i was beyond delighted :D

hope you enjoyed and that your week has gotten off to a great start! Ria :)

two days in a row after nothing for two months?? i'm really on a roll now :) i got this press release from Skindinavia last week and i'm pretty excited about it! they have developed spray primers... which i think is genius! it takes the great idea of makeup setting sprays and brings it to whole new level. i also love that they have an original formula for all skin types AND an Oil Control formula... which is perfect for the super oily girls like me!

here's the official press release!

can i just say how much i'm loving the makeup on the model?! those lips are just amazing.

what do you think of a spray primer? would you try it? check out everything Skindinavia has to offer at their website,!

Happy Friday! Ria :)

March 2014 ipsy Glam Bag

whew, it's been awhile! i'm finally here in Maryland, after much traveling around. i made to my friend's wedding, which was absolutely beautiful and perfect :) after that, somehow i've managed to travel up and down the East Coast owing to family schtuff. hopefully, i will be able to stay in Fort Meade and not travel for a bit... but one never knows! it's okay here, but i really miss California. we've had a couple days of massive rains which have caused all sorts of havoc around here... luckily, it seems like we're on high ground so we personally haven't had any issues!

i thought i'd share my March 2014 ipsy Glam Bag with you all... sorry it's beyond late! my April one made it through the mail forwarding, so i will be able to share that one, too :)

here's a look in the bag! it's a special one, with the print designed by Klari Reis and inspired by San Francisco, California from her 'Street Anatomy' series.

i was so excited to get the Nicole by OPI Roughles polish in On What Grounds in the bag... check out my review here! i haven't used the Klorane patches... i feel like those are things you need to use for awhile to see any results and i only have a couple.

last up we have the makeup! the Be a Bombshell quad is beautiful, and i love the formula of the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipsticks... the color wasn't really for me so i passed it on to Mama Pawlish :)

thank you so much for bearing with me over this long absence! i'm still looking for my lights, but i plan on getting back to posting. hope you are all wonderful! Ria :)
