Nicole by OPI Roughles... On What Grounds

just checking in... i'm still here! my life is still pretty crazy, my whole home is full of boxes that will be picked up on Monday. i will continue to be pretty AWOL until i'm settled in Maryland... hopefully that will be sooner rather than later! we officially have a place in Maryland, so that's a giant load off my mind. can't believe we will be on the road next Sunday!

today i have a Nicole by OPI Roughles polish to share with you all... On What Grounds. i was delighted to receive in my most recent ipsy Glam Bag... i will share what else i got soon :) Roughles is a line of textured polishes that are right up my alley as they are cremes with tiny colored particled interspersed throughout. On What Grounds is a sea foamy teal creme with blue and dark brown particles that has a satiny finish once it's been on about a day! with these types of polish, remember no topcoat :)

two coats On What Grounds.

sorry about sorely neglecting the blog, looking forward to picking things back up again once in Maryland!

Happy Saturday! Ria :)

NYC Fashion Safari

i'm so sorry i've been completely AWOL! we are gearing up for the big cross country move and i'm totally scattered. as usual, i've left everything i should have been doing over the last two years... to the final two weeks. *face palm* i will try and blog, but it's definitely not to be regularly until we get settled in our new place in April. can't believe this move is upon me!

today's polish NYC Fashion Safari from their In a Minute line... one of my lovely readers recommended it to me as i was looking for the perfect mannequin hand polish. sadly, this one is a little dark for me... the search continues! Fashion Safari is a light, pink-toned tan creme... a true nude. i only needed two coats for it to be sufficiently opaque... upon really close examination you can still a touch of VNL, though! it wants to be a little streaky, i recommend using a good basecoat... i'm currently loving Butter London Nail Foundation. it dries pretty shiny on its own, but i always need topcoat to help dry my polish :)

two coats Fashion Safari, one coat Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top Coat.

Happy Monday! Ria :)

Book Review... DIY DYE by Loren Lankford

i'm so excited to have another book to share with you all today! i'm so happy to have received a review copy (press sample) of DIY DYE by Loren Lankford (photography by Jason Hofman). this book details all sorts of temporary hair dyes... from store bought to how to make your own!

all the photos showcase the book, all images are shown courtesy of Ulysses Press!

here's a look at the cover... i love how it really grabs your interest and is so colorful.

the table of contents gives a great idea of what's in the book... all the steps you'll need to take to bring dramatic new hues to your hair!

i love how the author even goes into what your base color will mean to the outcome of your color!

the coloring section starts out with ideas of things you can use that you probably already have in your home! i love how easy to understand the directions are, the author takes you step-by-step through the process of getting your new hair color.

the end of each section shows how it will look when it's done... and the end of the Kool-Aid section even has an alternative way to use it!

the book also details how to use permanent dye, even showing ways to section your hair and apply in photos... photos just make everything so much easier to understand!

the end of the book shares different styles for coloring your hair... it really gives a lot of options you might not have considered!

one of the dye styles shared is the ever popular ombre! it's nice because in addition to the step-by-step directions there are tips to help everything go more smoothly.

DIY DYE by Loren Lankford (photography by Jason Hofmann) retails for $16.95 US! you find it on Amazon right here in hardcover for only $12.34 (current as of March 5, 2014). if you prefer reading digitally, the Kindle version is only $9.99!

i hope you enjoyed this look into DIY DYE, i loved reading (and getting ideas from!) it. let me know if you pick it up and what you think!

Happy Wednesday! Ria :)

Influenster J'Adore VoxBox

the packing company rep came today to see what they would have to pack up... things are getting real around here! i went through all my shoes today to see what could be jettisoned... i'm getting rid of quite a few. next up is my clothes!

today i have the Influenster J'Adore VoxBox to share with you all! it was pretty exciting to get selected for two VoxBoxes in a row :) everything in this post was sent to me by Influenster! this one had a good variety of things in it... including a moisturizer for Mr. Pawlish!

here's a look in the box...

some things i've tried out already, some not. these Red Rose teas are on the have not tried yet list! i love that it comes in different flavors.

next up... the DELICIOUS Hershey's Kisses! i was delighted to find these in the box, i've loved them since i was little girl :) if you are familiar with them, they are little triangle shaped milk chocolates!

and here are a few beauty products. i have already tried the Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight... sadly, it didn't work that well for me. i'm looking forward to giving the Boots Botanics mask a go, and the lashes are so pretty... i never wear lashes, but i'm definitely going to try these out!

lastly, we have the Vaseline Men Spray Lotion! both Mr. Pawlish and i have tried it... i love how it goes on and rubs in, but i'm not a big fan of the scent (it is marketed to men, though!). to me, it smells a lot like traditional shaving cream... but Mr. Pawlish likes it!

if you are interested in getting an Influenster invite (it's all free!) comment below with your email address! if you aren't comfortable leaving your email out there, please shoot me an email at RiaLovesPawlish@gmail.com ! Ria :)

Dove Advanced Care Deodorant (Dove Influenster VoxBox)

yesterday was my birthday! spent it with the family, which was just lovely :) Mr. Pawlish got me the black titanium Tiffany Key which i've been wanting for years... so i'm pretty excited! we went to my fave restaurant today, and my fave chef was working... so, basically, it's been an awesome birthday :D

today i wanted to review Dove Advanced Care Deodorant which i received in the Dove Influenster VoxBox! i've never reviewed a deodorant before, and i wasn't sure whether i would want to review this one or not... but i'm REALLY impressed!

it came in adorable blue VoxBox...

and here's a look at the actual deodorant!

i received Dove Advanced Care Deodorant in the scent Nourished Beauty, which smells pretty perfumey, as opposed to many deodorants which smell either fresh or floral. it does a great job at keeping you smelling good, even when exercising! the disappointment in this deodorant for me is that it does not have that high a level of anti-perspirant (only a 15.2% level of Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex GLY), so if you sweat a lot (like i do!) you will probably sweat through it, especially when exercising (but the deodorant part is great... you may be sweaty, but you won't be smelly). however, the bad is so far overshadowed by the good! it has NutriumMoisture in it, which really improves the appearance and health of your armpits. i, quite frankly, never thought much about armpit health, but mine look so much better after using this for a couple weeks! it even helped a bump that i've been trying to get rid of for a long time to shrink majorly. i'm a definite fan of this product!

here's a look at the product itself... it looks like your basic twist-up deodorant, but it's not :)

i checked at Target and Dove Advanced Care Deodorant does come in a variety of scents, so hopefully there will be one for you! you can find it at most drugstores for under $7. check out Dove's Facebook page here!

big thank you to Dove and Influenster for the opportunity to try this product out... i will definitely be purchasing when this one is finished! if you are interested in trying Influenster, i have some invites... comment below! Ria :)
