it's that wonderful day of the month... time to review my Pixi makeup sample box! (it's a box of press samples, kindly provided to me for review). this time it had two brand new products in addition to another i hadn't tried yet... so it was all brand new products to me! the product that has already been in the range is the H2O Skintint, and the newbies are the Full Cover Foundation Brush and the Undercover Crayon.
here they all are in their box!
Full Cover Foundation Brush
the new Full Cover Foundation brush can be used with liquid, cream, and powder products, making it quite versatile. it's designed to work hand in hand with Pixi H2O Skintint, and they do work well together! because of its synthetic bristles, cleaning out liquid and cream products is easy AND the brush feels super soft on the face.
as you can see, the bristles are arranged in an oval shape, and they are quite densely packed. this brush can be used in a traditional swiping motion using the side of the brush, or the top of the brush can be used to buff products into the skin... making it even more versatile :) i like how it really worked the H2O Skintint into my skin, making it appear far more smooth.
the Undercover Crayon is a concealer stick that twists up for more product... no sharpening needed. it comes in the shades Perk-Up Peach, Cream, Nude, and Warm. i was sent Perk-Up Peach to try out, and i used it as a color corrector under my eyes, and spot concealer on flaws.
to blend it, i used the Full Cover Foundation brush to buff it into my skin. it does help less the appearance of darkness under my eyes, but i still prefer the Pixi Correction Concentrate for that purpose. i much prefer the Undercover Crayon for spot concealing, as it's a bit dryer than i prefer for under the eye... but it's great for covering up blemishes and other little places you want to hide. because it's a crayon, it's really precise and you can put it exactly where you need it and not waste product... i think will be picking it up in Cream!
Pixi H2O Skintint is their newest foundation... it's been out for a bit, but i had yet to try it! i was sent Nude, which ended up too dark for me... so i went ahead and bought Cream because i really love it. my concern with the shades is that they do not go very dark at all, so i don't think anyone past a light medium will be able to find a match. most Targets do have testers out, though, so make sure to try it out!
as you can see... the shades are bit lacking. however, i really dig the product itself. you can apply either with a brush or your fingers... i just always use brushes because i hate to get my hands dirty :D it offers light to medium coverage with a softly dewy finish. most foundations tend to look more dewy on me due to my oily skintype... i think it would be more matte on drier skin. it's easily mattified with powder, though! i've found it lasts well on me, and i tend to be the type to put products on in the morning and not mess with them until i take them off... with the possible exception of a little powdering throughout the day. using the Pixi Full Cover Foundation Brush i was able to apply two coats without the product getting streaky or cakey, although with a different brush i did have some streaking. i'm so glad i bought this foundation in my color, i'm really loving it!
here is my face with both the Undercover Crayon and the H20 Skintint in Cream and nothing else! my face looks smoother and flaws are definitely less visible.
you can find Pixi products at Target stores, www.Target.com, and www.PixiBeauty.com!! i've seen both Undercover Crayon and the Full Cover Foundation Brush already on shelves at Target... and of course, that's where i bought my H2O Skintint in Cream :D
these posts always take the longest to put together, this one was a two day effort :) i love Pixi so much, and i'm so thankful to be able to share these products with you all. let me know if you try them out and what you think!
Happy Friday! Ria :)
