SpaRitual Uncomplicated

it's super cold today, so i'm staying home from the barn because i know there is a lesson going on in the indoor arena when i would be there... so i'd be stuck in the wind. i'm definitely not nearly as affected by cold as most people, but the wind just cuts me to quick! i've committed to having a reputable saddle fitter come out to the barn in a couple weeks, so i'm hoping i will at least get an idea of a direction to go in. it's $60 an hour, which is apparently a bargain price O.o horses are so expensive!

today i have SpaRitual Uncomplicated to share with you all! it's a lovely beige creme that works as a nude with my skin tone. it's a little brown toned to be true mannequin hands on me, but it certainly gives a chic, nude look! it applies so nicely, one coat gives you really nice coverage. i had a hard deciding whether or not to do a second... but like most times, i just can't resist a second coat! two coats makes it completely opaque :) it dries quite glossy on its own, but as always i recommend topcoat to seal everything in and extend the wear time of your mani!

two coats Uncomplicated, one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (the Salon Perfect topcoat is a press sample!).

you can find SpaRitual on their website (www.SpaRitual.com), the polishes retail for $12. Ulta has a small selection, you can the Spa Locator on SpaRitual website to find others near you! they have been popping up at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for $3.99... you know i snatch those babies up :D i actually found Uncomplicated at one of those!

i saw on SpaRitual.com that they now have lip glosses... hope i see some of those person soon!!

it's supposed to snow again on Sunday... hope it's warm where you are! Ria :)

Burt's Bees Lip Balms

it's been very strange here... the forecast was for snow and rain on Saturday, and we got nothing. not even rain. today it was supposed to be snow and rain, and we got a little snow... but not much stuck! supposedly there will be more tonight and tomorrow... we shall see. i'm hoping if it does, it won't stick so i can get to my riding lesson tomorrow!

over the past couple weeks i've been testing out a few Burt's Bees 100% natural lip balms! (they were all press samples, kindly provided to me for review). i received Vanilla Bean, Wild Cherry, Replenishing with Pomegranate Oil, and Coconut & Pear. i think lip balms (like most scents) vary person by person. my two favorites were the Vanilla Bean and the Coconut & Pear!

these work best for me as day moisturizers. i got my lips addicted to balms years ago, so i can't go without having something on my lips or they will immediately start drying and cracking. for night, i like to use something heavy duty and greasy! the Burt's Bees balms are fantastic for daytime, moisturizing with out being too greasy and getting all over the place.

and here's the tubes!

and here we have a look at the actual product. no matter the color of the balm, all the ones i tried applied completely clear!

i recently did a post on Burt's Bees partnership with Us the Duo... check it out HERE!

you can find Burt's Bees products on their website (www.BurtsBees.com) and in loads of stores all over the US... i even saw them in JoAnn's Fabrics the other day! on the Burt's Bees website, these balms retail for $3.30, and if you buy 4 you get a 5th one free :D THIS is the direct link to the Burt's Bees lip balm page.

have you guys tried out Burt's Bees? what do you think? i keep the Vanilla Bean in my purse and the Coconut & Pear (which i've got on right now!) in the TV room. i gave the other two to Mama Pawlish so she can have some new balms :)

Happy Monday! Ria :)

Oil Essentials Prevent (Natural Beauty Oil)

it's supposed to snow here again starting tonight, then through tomorrow... then again on Monday! blegh. i'm listening to Marie Digby while i write today's blog... i've loved her since she got discovered so long ago :) if you like female singer/songwriters, check her out.

today i have the Oil Essentials Prevent natural beauty oil to share! i stumbled across this product at Rite Aid (which appears to be the easiest place to find it) last year, and i've been loving it since. there are multiple kinds of Oil Essentials which target different things... i went with the Prevent because it has Sweet Almond & Macadamia, and i love those types of smells! it's one of those all around oils that you can use all over your body, including your face... which i don't do, but i do use it on my hands and hair! it has a dropper, which i like, it's definitely a lot less messy than just pouring oil in your palm. what i usually do is drop a good amount into my palm, then rub it into my hands really well, concentrating a lot on my cuticles. with the excess, i rub my elbows and knees, and then run my fingers through the ends of my hair!

i'm quite happy with this oil, and will repurchase when needed... however, i've been using it for months and haven't used much! (i even accidentally spilled it over once). the dropper really keeps you from accidentally pouring out a half a bottle :) i think i will probably be trying out other types in the near future!

here's a look at the product itself!

check out the Oil Essentials website... www.oilessentialsbeauty.com! Oil Essentials retail for $10.99 for 1.69 ounces in Rite Aid stores. you can also purchase them on the Rite Aid website... THIS is a direct link to the Oil Essentials search results so you can see what other types they have to offer, and THIS is the direct link to the Prevent page!

hope you all have fantastic weekends! i'm not excited about the snow... but my dogs sure love it! Ria :)

Influenster Frosty VoxBox

it snowed again today! we got about two inches... hopefully the roads won't ice over tonight so i can head over to the barn tomorrow. i really need to get another ride in this week :)

today i have the Influenster Frosty VoxBox to share with you all! i'm always super excited when i get picked to receive a VoxBox... who wouldn't be excited to receive a box of goodies for free?! plus, the chance to try out things i may not have even heard of is totally awesome.

this box is called the Frosty VoxBox, but it doesn't have super wintery vibe to me. here's a look at what came inside!

let's jump in with the makeup... always my favorite part! first up is a NYC Expert Last Lip Color lipstick in 418 Sugar Plum. it's a shimmery rose mauve that is right on trend for 2015. it's pretty smooth and pigmented, but it does have a strong fruity smell that i don't really care for.

in its tube...

on my lips...

and finally, swatched next to the next product!

the next product is Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in 001 Black. it's very pigmented and black and goes on really smoothly. sadly, on me it transferred :( i was super bummed because this is a beautiful liner!

here's the packaging...

in keeping with the makeup, next up is Rimmel Gentle Eye Make Up Remover! it's a liquid makeup remover that does its job quite well. i didn't try it on waterproof mascara as i don't use that, but it definitely takes off regular mascara. i poured it on a cotton round and held it to my eye to break up the product, then it wiped away pretty easily. my only complaint with this is that it seemed to react with some products and make a funky smell... i'm pretty sensitive to smells!

here it is!

i received a sample size of the No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum, but i didn't try this out because i'm on prescription skincare. cute packaging, though!

next up, the EcoTools Full Volume Styler round brush. i liked that this brush has both synthetic boar bristles and traditional plastic bristles. it's a very strong brush, so if you have a sensitive scalp, you might not like it. i have pretty raggedy ends at the moment, and it really helps smooth them out, which i love!

on to the food! first up is McCormick Gourmet All Natural Thyme. the shaker it comes in is adorable and handy... but i don't cook with thyme (or cook much at all, really!), so i can't say how it tastes. smells good, though :)

then there's Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane Green Tea (Decaffeinated). it's one of their Holiday Teas! i didn't care for this, i'm not really into flavored teas (or hot teas at all)... however, Mr. Pawlish loved it!

lastly, the Red Vines Fruit Vines Bites. i LOVED these! so, so yummy :) i got them in strawberry, and they are definitely something i would purchase.

hope you enjoyed this overview/review of the Frosty VoxBox products! big thank you to Influenster for sending this out to me :) if you're interested in being an Influenster, just email me and let me know, i have some invites available!

Happy Wednesday... you're halfway to the weekend! Ria :)

Jamberry Nail Wraps

had a great lesson today... jumping lessons always tend to go better for me because then i'm short stirrups... everything seems so much easier in short stirrups! the hunt is definitely on for a saddle, i've even decided exactly what i want... so if you've got a County Conquest 17.5 with a medium tree, hit me up :D

today i'm excited to share my Jamberry experience with you all! my friend Jessica sent me a Jamberry nail wrap accent sheet so that i could do their 7 day challenge... Jamberry on one nail, regular polish on the rest. i didn't do daily pictures, but i did a simple before and after so you can really see the change!

here's what the accent sheet looks like... i also included the directions for wrap application. you'll probably need to click on the picture and make it bigger, the text doesn't show up as well as i'd hope!

application was pretty easy. i decided to use my middle nail on my dominant hand as it is super peely, and i wanted to see how the wraps held up against that. after peeling the wrap off the sheet, you heat up (i used my hair dryer) until it gets malleable, then you just apply it to your nail and smooth it out with your other fingers. trim off the major excess hanging off the nail, then fold it over and file downwards with a nail file to remove the rest! it was not quite as smooth as i would have liked once i got the excess off, but i suspect that's a technique problem that practice would help! once that's finished, you add heat to the nail again and press down firmly to bond the wrap to the nail.

here's the manicure! i'm amazed (and majorly impressed!) with how shiny the Jamberry wrap is! i did a complete manicure on the other nails using a treatment, basecoat, SpaRitual Splendid, and topcoat.

after a week, most polished nails has some chipping, my thumbs were missing significant chunks. i use my thumbs to pop out my dental retainer, so i have trouble keeping them nice. the Jamberry nail had some tip wear... i think this was due to my peeling nails. it seems like there would have been little to no wear on a normal nail... what was nice was the wrap actually helped hold my nail together. when a big chunk peeled up, i was able to glue it back down because the wrap held it!

thanks to Mr. Pawlish for taking this picture... sorry it's a little out of focus!

to remove the wrap, you heat it again and peel it off. it did hurt slightly to peel it, but i might not have gotten it warm enough. the best thing was... no damage was done to my nail wearing these! definitely an awesome alternative to false nails.

if you are interested in trying these out, please buy from my friend Jessica! here is all her info :)

hope you all are having a fantastic week! are you a Jamberry fan already? let me know! Ria :)

SpaRitual Splendid

went to the Maryland Horse Expo yesterday with Mama Pawlish! we had fun, there were loads of tempting vendors. i only ended up with a folding saddle rack to keep at the barn, i've been wanting one for awhile now because there is no good place to put my saddle while i'm tacking up Echo... now there will be!

today i have SpaRitual Splendid to share with you all! it's a gorgeous saturated pink creme with great lasting power. it applies so easily, you could make it a one coater but i prefer two... as a general rule i feel that polishes look richer with two coats! it dries shiny on its own, but i added topcoat to make it even shinier :)

two coats Splendid, one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat (press sample).

coming up next is my Jamberry nail wrap review! Ria :)

Pixi January 2015 Makeup Samples Swatches and Reviews!

i'm super excited, tomorrow i'm going to the Maryland Horse Expo... which i'm mainly excited about for the shopping ;) there hasn't been many opportunities here to go to craft and gem shows, which are my absolute fave, so i'm hoping to find some good stuff tomorrow!

today have the Pixi blogger makeup samples for January to share... and they are fantastic. (all products in this post are press samples, kindly provided to me for review). i was especially excited to try out two of their makeup brushes as brushes are something i absolutely adore. i got the Lash & Brow Brush and the Flat Liner Brush. as for makeup, i received the Correction Concentrate, the Natural Brow Duo in Natural Brown, and the Large Lash Mascara in Bold Black.

here's a look at the packaging!

and here's a look what the products themselves look like.

Pixi recommends using the Flat Liner Brush with the Correction Concentrate which is an under eye concealer/corrector. i LOVE the Correction Concentrate and have been using it for a really long time... anytime i put makeup on, that goes on first. i'm getting to the end of my currently one, so it was happy dance time to find it in this month's box :D it's a peach toned cream product that is thick enough to cover well, but not drying. the Flat Liner Brush works okay with it and as a concealer brush, but i prefer to use a fluffier brush to buff it in.

the Lash & Brow Brush is a traditional spoolie, it works well for brushing your brows! i like how cute these brushes are :) the Natural Brow Duo in Natural Brown has a nice taupe tone to it, which is what i like in a brow color. the pencil is a twist up and is shaped more like a dash than a traditional pencil point. it's a little hard, but does give the brows a nice color. i like the brow gel a lot, it's very sheer but has a slight brown tint. it keeps brows in place and gives them a nice look. it can get a little hard if you use a lot, but it doesn't peel or flake!

here are swatches...

finally, the Large Lash Mascara in Bold Black... it's very black and has quite a large brush. it gives the lashes length and volume and doesn't get clumpy. it gives a fluttery look that's just a bit over the top to be natural, but not super in your face!

i have on all the products in the photo below :D

you can find Pixi products at Target stores, www.Target.com, and www.PixiBeauty.com!! until the January 24, 2015 you can get 10% off your Target Pixi purchase in store with their Cartwheel app... i love that app so much!!

Happy Thursday! Ria :)

Pixi Gilded Garnet

ran errands today, it felt super cold outside... it was around freezing all day but it felt colder! it was supposed to snow, but i never saw it... apparently it did a tiny bit early in the morning, but not enough to stick around.

i'm excited to share Pixi Gilded Garnet today! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a beautiful rich brown pearl shimmer with reddish tones. Pixi's website describes it as 'Deep burnished maroon with gold shimmer' but to me it looks pretty brown! it's highly pigmented and you could probably get away with one coat, but i prefer two thin coats. since it's a shimmer, make sure to keep your brushstrokes even to keep visible lines to a minimum! a shiny topcoat brings out all this polish has to offer.

two coats Gilded Garnet, one coat Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

Pixi polishes retail for $8. you can find Pixi products at Target stores, www.Target.com, and  www.PixiBeauty.comthis is the direct link to the Pixi Beauty Nail Colour page!

next up... January's Pixi makeup blogger sample swatches... already tried them and they are great! Ria :)

FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City... In The City Lookin' Pretty

rainy yuck day, but i got great news at the doctor today that some lumps i have are nothing to worry about! that definitely makes up for a rainy day :D HuluPlus hasn't been playing nice with my Tivo, so on the advice of the Hulu tech, i bought a Roku streaming stick... and it's awesome! wish i'd known about it sooner, it's really cool.

today i have the last of the FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City polishes to share with you all, this one is In The City Lookin' Pretty. (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review!). it's a glitter that's chock full of tiny light pink hex pieces large silver holographic hex pieces suspended in a clear base. this polish is a great topper, and i LOVE it over FingerPaints What A Night (also a press sample!)! What A Night doesn't need any help to look amazing, but In The City Lookin' Pretty is a great choice if you're wanting to add a glitter. there is just no way to show how sparkly and eye catching this manicure is in person... i definitely couldn't stop staring at my nails :) as with all glitters, make sure to add topcoat to seal everything in and bring out all the shinies!

one coat In The City Lookin' Pretty, over two coats What A Night (press sample), over one coat Salon Perfect Oil Slick (also a press sample), and finished off with one coat Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

here are two pictures of In The City Lookin' Pretty in different lighting... i wish i had been able to capture just how gorgeous these looked together!!!

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website  www.SallyBeauty.com

i have loved sharing the FingerPaints Bright Light Big City collection with you all... hoped you've enjoyed it, too! i'm so thankful and appreciative that i got the chance to review it... this is just a stellar collection. if you can only get one... my favorite remains FingerPaints What A Night... that has to be one of my favorite polishes i've seen in a long time! Ria :)

FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City... What A Night

Mr. Pawlish got home today! this was a super short business trip, but the doggies and i missed him anyway :) we are going to have Chinese food for dinner... we haven't had that in awhile, so i'm looking forward to it. i LOVE orange chicken and fried rice... i always get my Chinese fried rice with just egg and onion because i really, really hate peas. like, pathologically ;)

i'm super excited to share What A Night from FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City collection with you all today, it's my favorite of the collection! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). i'm going to go ahead and call this one a multichrome foil because it flashes so many different colors, i think it's more than just a duochrome! the base color is a rosy burgundy, but at different angles you see gold, lighter pink, and a limey green... it's just STUNNING. i'm so in love with this one :) i layered two coats of it over black in order to get the most of the multichrome, but it is easily opaque on its own if you prefer. i recommend shiny topcoat with this one!

two coats What A Night, over one coat Salon Perfect Oil Slick (also a press sample), and finished off with one coat Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

seriously... how gorgeous is this?!?! *sigh*

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website  www.SallyBeauty.com

coming up next is the last polish of the collection... and it's a glitter! Ria :)

FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City... Dance Floor Diva

basically just worked around the house and on blog stuff. nothing exciting :) it was in the 20sF again today... but it's supposed to at least be in the 30s next week! hopefully i'll be able to get to the barn most days, i feel like i've lost a ton of muscle over the past few weeks. luckily that's something that's easily worked on :)

today's FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City polish is Dance Floor Diva. (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review!). this polish a glitter filled with tons of purple micro glitter and larger pieces of blue, pink, black, and silver hex glitter, all suspended in a clear base. the silvers are the biggest! since this is a glitter, i layered it over FingerPaints Urban Lights (also a press sample!). you get great glitter coverage with one coat... not sure if you could get it opaque on its own, but it makes a perfect topper. the only placing i did was adding a couple more big pieces to the pinkie nail on my swatch hand... this glitter is really easy to work with! use a topcoat to bring out all the shinies and seal in the look.

one coat Dance Floor Diva, over two coats Urban Lights (press sample), over one coat Salon Perfect Oil Slick (also a press sample), and finished off with one coat Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

here are two pictures of Dance Floor Diva in different lighting so you get more of an idea of how the glitter looks in person!

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website  www.SallyBeauty.com

coming up next is my favorite polish from the collection, so be sure to check back soon! Ria :)

FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City... Urban Lights

spent over an hour and a half waiting to get a prescription filled at the military pharmacy today... that feels like forever when you're just sitting there with sick people coughing... ick. i think it was so crazy today because they are changing some things up, plus all the snow... the light at the end of the tunnel was getting Subway afterwards, i just kept daydreaming about that meatball sub :D

today we have Urban Lights from FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City collection. (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review!). it's a duochrome shimmer that flashes from blue and teal to purple... the purple is a bit more hidden, but definitely there! i love to layer duochromes over black, you get a stronger shift that way :) you can easily build it up to full opacity on its own if you prefer! i used two coats of Urban Lights and really loved the look. i highly recommend shiny topcoats with polishes like this, the shine will bring out all those nuances of color!

two coats Urban Lights, over one coat Salon Perfect Oil Slick (also a press sample), and finished off with one coat Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

first up is the blue/teal...

and the purple... this was SO hard to capture on camera, i tried really hard and this was the best i could get!

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website  www.SallyBeauty.com

nothing exciting planned for this weekend, just a bunch of stuff to get done around the house. it finally warmed up here... well, it was in the 30sF, which felt positively tropical after the past week! Ria :)

FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City... Paint The Town Purple

Mr. Pawlish headed out for his business trip today, so for a bit it will be just me, Mama Pawlish, and the doggies. since it was in the teens most of the day, i opted not to ride today and got groceries instead. it was SO cold outside!

today from the FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City collection is Paint The Town Purple! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). this polish is a sheer warm purple shimmer, it's super sparkly! because it's sheer, i decided to swatch it two ways, two coats by itself, and two coats over black. using it over black really gives it added dimension! because it's so sparkly, you don't really notice that there is a bit of visible nail line. also, in the swatch it looks slightly patchy on one nail, but that isn't noticeable in person, i couldn't see it until it showed up in the photo! definitely add a shiny topcoat to bring out all that sparkle :)

pinkie and middle have two coats Paint The Town Purple, ring and pointer have two coats Paint The Town Purple over one coat Salon Perfect Oil Slick, and everything is finished off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (all are press samples).

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their websitewww.SallyBeauty.com

the weather is supposed to start warming up a leeeeetle bit... maybe get into the thirties! Ria :)

FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City... Hey Mr. DJ!

it never got above 25F today!! since it was windy, it really felt  more like 9F... brrrrrr. definitely stayed home from the barn, that's just too cold! Mr. Pawlish is leaving in the wee hours tomorrow for a business trip. i'm hoping to get lots done while he's away, having him home for a couple weeks was awesome, but bad for my productivity :)

today i have the first polish from FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City collection to share... Hey Mr. DJ! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). this polish is right up my alley... a black base chock full of red, blue, and silver glitter! the base seems sheer... but it's opaque in two coats. definitely add topcoat to make sure all those yummy shimmers all brought out!

two coats Hey Mr. DJ!, one coat topcoat. (i'm sorry, i totally forgot which one i used!)

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website www.SallyBeauty.com

make sure to keep checking back, got five more fun polishes coming up from Bight Lights Big City... and a couple are duochromes!! Ria :)
