Pixi Quick Fix Bronzer & Makeup Fixing Mist

had a really great jumping lesson on Echo yesterday! she was really good for the most part, and anything else just helps me learn how to better work with her :) i'm sitting outside with the dogs to write this post... it's pretty nice right now because a storm is rolling in, so it's not hot! bunnies come out of the woods outside of our backyard fence and it drives the dogs bonkers :D they run back and forth like crazy! both of them think they're human so they don't really like being outside... i have to force them and then they stand at the door looking at me booboo faces. so goofy!

i'm SO EXCITED to share with you all what came in June's blogger sample box from Pixi Beauty... it's awesome! (these are all press samples, kindly provided to me for review). first there is the nail polish Coral Cantaloupe ($8) reviewed and swatched separately HERE! then there is the Quick Fix Bronzer ($20), and the Makeup Fixing Mist ($15) :D

here's the box!

the Quick Fix Bronzer is an all in one product that doesn't need any extra tools for use. it has a powder poof that dispenses the loose powder bronzer when tapped, and a mirror on the lid so you can see where you're applying the product!

getting the loose powder to come through the poof seems to be quite tricksy. i tapped and tapped and tapped and couldn't get anything out... so i pushed really hard with my finger and accidentally shoved part of the poof in the container! after i pulled it back out, i had no problems getting product to dispense... so maybe that's the trick? i wasn't sure this product would work for my skintone as i'm ultra fair and so only contour, i don't bronze my face. i was really happy to find that i was able to tap out product and blend along my cheekbone without it looking crazy! the color is a tad warm for some people's taste in a contour and it does have a subtle golden shimmer/sheen... but i find that helps to warm up my face on days i feel a bit peaky :)

here's a swatch in the shade...

and one in the sun!

on to the Makeup Fixing Mist... i'm OBSESSED with this product!

i've been intrigued by this product since i saw in one of Pixi's newsletter emails a couple months ago. i've meant to pick it up but hadn't gotten around to it... you can imagine the squeals of delight when i opened my blogger box this month!! :D what made this most interesting to me is that it can be used a variety of ways...

here's the list straight from the Pixi website!

Before makeup: extends makeup wear.
After makeup: sets makeup & adds a soft-focus finish.
Anytime: refreshes makeup, hydrates and balances.
i was super anxious to test out the claim that it can be used as both a primer AND setting spray... sprays i've tried in the past have only worked for one or the other. a single spray that does both and can be used throughout the day definitely sounds like a ringer! and boy, does this spray deliver! using it before and after makeup application absolutely extend the wear of my makeup throughout the day... plus, it has more of a satin finish once dry which i prefer over the ultra dewy finish i've found to common in finishing sprays. it contains both Rose Water and Green Tea... i think the Rose Water has a lot to do with the satin finish it leaves!
for application, i fold my lips over so that it doesn't get on my mouth, then spray in circle extending outward from my nose around five or six times. remember to use a primer spray BEFORE you apply mascara, because if the mascara is not dry it could transfer to your cheeks! (this is experience talking!). i do wish the spray was a bit more fine, because once i did spray too much and had a droplet roll down my forehead! to prevent this, i just tip my head back while i'm spraying and then for a few seconds after to let it dry a bit. since doing that, no problems at all! my only other nitpick is the smell... you can really smell the Rose Water in it. since that's what it's made of, it's not surprising... i just don't care for that smell very much. however, this spray is absolutely amazing and the smell is just a minor dislike!!
if you hadn't noticed, i'm just completely smitten with the Makeup Fixing Mist... i plan on picking up another bottle tomorrow to keep in my bathroom! since getting it, it's the only spray i want to use, and i'm tired of carrying it back and forth from my bathroom where i put on my priming spray after sunscreen, to my bedroom where my vanity is. i know, i know... #ultralazy ;)

*                          *                            *

you can find Pixi products at Target stores, www.Target.com, and www.PixiBeauty.com!! the Quick Fix Bronzer retails for $20 and the Makeup Fixing Mist retails for $15. these already on the shelves at my local Targets!

Pixi Coral Cantaloupe

goodness was it hot here today! tomorrow is supposed to be much cooler, i'm definitely looking forward to that. i'm having lunch with a friend tomorrow, i'm so glad to have made a new friend here in Maryland :) i still really, really miss all my California friends!

today i have Pixi Coral Cantaloupe to share with you all! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's well named as it's a bright melon color with ultra subtle gold shimmers. it's not quite neon, but it's getting close... a perfect summer bright! i got compliments on this one from people saying it's the perfect color that goes with anything :D i used two coats for full opacity... remember to go with thin coats... i always forget, and then you can end up with a little wrinkling! this polish is opaque enough to have full opacity in two thin to medium coats. it's not very shiny on its own, so you'll definitely want to add topcoat, which will help bring out the gold sparkles... but they are pretty hidden except in direct light!

two coats Coral Cantaloupe, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

Pixi polishes retail for $8. you can find Pixi products at Target stores, www.Target.com, and  www.PixiBeauty.comTHIS is the direct link to the Pixi Beauty Nail Colour page! Coral Cantaloupe will be available online with Pixi Beauty but ONLY in store though at Target!

SUPER excited to share Pixi's new Makeup Fixing Mist... i'm completely obsessed! Ria :)

China Glaze Desert Escape... The Heat Is On

today i decided not to ride because the muscle tear i have is acting up again... and i'm super bummed because it is beautiful today! much cooler than yesterday. i would have gone if i wasn't going to visit my Nonna in the nursing home tomorrow... but sitting in the car for three hours at a pop with this thing hurting would stink. i definitely don't recommend moving heavy furniture if you've already got a muscle injury... i think most people would know that... i'm a total goober :D

today brings the last of the China Glaze Desert Escape polishes... The Heat Is On! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a bright, fun big apple type red... this one is different from the other polish in that's it more of a crelly (creme/jelly), so it's more sheer than the other polishes without shimmer in the collection. because it is not a true jelly, it has a bit more pigmentation and so i actually like it at two coats. it's not completely opaque, but it has nice coverage that gives a great look! it's super glossy without topcoat... i actually took the photo that way :D topcoat will extend your manicure, though... it's definitely personal preference on this one!

two coats The Heat Is On.

this collection has a little different distribution than normal China Glaze products, so i'm just going to cut and paste the information so i don't mess it up! i changed up the color so it will be more noticeable :)

The individual shades sold as open stock colors will only be available onLockAndMane.com

Sally’s will only carry select nail art kits but they will not retail the individual colors.

Ulta is not carrying this particular collection.

So LockAndMane.com is the best retailer to get the complete collection!

hope you enjoyed this look at the Desert Escape collection! which was your fave? mine is Meet Me In The Mirage! Ria :)

China Glaze Desert Escape... Meet Me In The Mirage

thankfully the weather was clear this morning, so i got to ride Echo :) i managed to mess up my muscle tear again moving the old aquarium stand, so we just walked around the property today. it's super hot and muggy, so both of us were drenched in sweat after just walking around for half an hour... crazy!

today's China Glaze Desert Escape polish is Meet Me In The Mirage. (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a stunning rose gold chrome that sparkles in the light... it's absolutely beautiful! after swatching yesterday, this is the one i chose to put back on as a full manicure :D it's easy to work with and totally opaque in two coats. i recommend using topcoat to bring out all this polish has to offer.

two coats Meet Me In The Mirage, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

China Glaze Desert Escape... Don't Mesa With My Heart

the weather did exactly the opposite of what was forecast for today... it was supposed to be cloudy in the morning and rain in the afternoon! so, while i was on my way to the barn this morning it started to pour... so i ended up turning around coming home. i kept hoping i would drive out of it, but i made it most of the way there and it just got worse. hopefully it will be nice tomorrow morning!

Don't Mesa With My Heart is today's China Glaze Desert Escape polish! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a medium pink creme that makes me think of flowers :) the formula is easy to work with and completely opaque at two coats. it dries quite shiny on its own, but topcoat will extend your manicure!

China Glaze Desert Escape... What's She Dune?

Mama Pawlish and i went out for just a couple things... and ended up having a marathon shopping day at the mall :D we hads loads of fun and got some fantastic deals. i LOVE a great sale!

What's She Dune? is today's China Glaze Desert Escape polish! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a light taupey beige creme that is nice and pigmented... completely opaque in two coats! i'm super impressed with the formulas from this collection... even colors notorious for being streaky and sheer are pigmented and easy to work with :) this color is quite elegant, i think it's definitely work appropriate... but i love a neutral nail anytime! it's dries with a shine on its own, but it's better with an extra shiny topcoat!

two coats What's She Dune?, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

China Glaze Desert Escape... Rain Dance The Night Away

ran some errands with Mama Pawlish today and got a haircut... one that i sorely needed! i'm super happy with the way my new stylist cut it, glad i ended up with her today :) i found a pair of sunglasses i liked at a prescription glasses store, but i didn't like them $159 worth... then i found almost the same sunglasses at TJ Maxx in two colors for only $15 a piece... obviously, i had to buy both :D

Rain Dance The Night Away is today's China Glaze Desert Escape polish! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). this polish is really well named, because it's a light teal creme that looks a lot like the turquoise stone used in American Indian jewelry... which i happen to be a HUGE fan of :D it has a bit more of a green undertone than it does in the photo. it also looks a lot darker inside a lot of the time... i'm always surprised how much a color can change with artificial lighting! the formula is great, you could use one thick coat for full opacity, but i prefer two. it dries shiny on its own, but it's even better with an ultra glossy topcoat!

two coats Rain Dance The Night Away, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

China Glaze Desert Escape... Don't Desert Me

had two fantastic lessons with Echo this week! she's being super good, we did dressage yesterday and jumped today... and we're definitely improving :) i don't have lessons for the next two weeks while my trainer is away, so we'll be working hard on getting stronger and more confident together!

super excited to start reviewing the China Glaze Desert Escape collection today! we're kicking off with Don't Desert Me. (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). this polish is a beautiful fuchsia with a pearl finish. it's so reflective that it almost looks like it has a duochrome cast to it... this is one of those polishes that looks pretty in the bottle, but AMAZING on the nail! in the swatch photo you can see some brushstrokes, but they really aren't noticeable to the naked eye... i think it's because it's so shiny! the color is even more rich and saturated than in the photo as well. i thought this polish would be sheer, but i was delighted to find it pigmented and completely opaque at two coats... this polish was definitely a sleeper hit for me :D i highly recommend a shiny topcoat to bring out all this polish has to offer!

two coats Don't Desert Me, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

Lypsyl Original Mint

we have been supposed to be having thunderstorms still this afternoon... still nothing! we're under watches and warnings... and yet... nothing. i guess we'll see! it was nice at the barn this morning, it wasn't too awfully hot and there was a breeze :) it'd be nice if it stayed that way for my lessons over the next two days! ...as i've been typing this post, the thunderstorm finally showed up :D

today i have a new lip balm to share! i found Lypsyl Original Mint at Walmart, and i just had to give it a try. it's touted as being Sweden's number one lip balm!

i LOVE the packaging, it's absolutely adorable! the tube is chunky and oval shaped, as is the balm itself. there is a little bee on the lid, but the best part is that the button you use to push up the balm is a bee! SO CUTE!

this balm has a nice peppermint scent, when you first apply it there's a slight tingle. it definitely doesn't burn like a plumping product can, it more just makes your lips feel cold. it has a lovely slip to it, and moisturizes well. like most balms, it's not going to last but so long if you constantly rub your lips together... like i do. it's not quite thick enough for me to use overnight, but it's perfect for daytime use!

check out their products at www.LypsylHome.com! i found this balm at Walmart, the Lypsyl website lists more vendors HERE. the balms retail for around $3 in the US!

have you guys seen this brand around? they have another balm that has SPF in a Honeyberry flavor that sounds awesome! let me know if you've tried and what your thoughts are! Ria :)

FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution... Tie Dye Tangerine

took the puppies to the vet today and they both got great reports! Jasper had some blood work sent out because he's considered a senior as he's 9. hopefully everything will come back fine! they get so nervous when we go to the vet, they both become slobber monsters that shed EVERYWHERE... it's pretty funny :) they are so glad to go home again!

today we wrap up the FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution reviews with Tie Dye Tangerine! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a saturated orange creme... tangerine is a great description of it! i prefer it with three coats as i felt i could still see a bit of nail line at two... but that's definitely a case of personal preference. this is such a fun, happy polish! i recommend topcoat to make this baby as shiny as possible :D

three coats Tie Dye Tangerine, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website www.SallyBeauty.com. the Tie Dye Revolution collection should be available until the end of June 2015!

i'm so glad i had the opportunity to share this fun summer collection with you all :)

i hope you all have fantastic weekends! we have a church picnic to go to tomorrow... do you guys have any fun plans?  Ria :)

FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution... Far Out Fuschia

got some bad news today... since the injection didn't work on my pinkie, the hand doctor is recommending surgery :/ i'm pretty bummed, but the doctor said i can wait awhile before i get it done. as long as i still have full mobility i have some time before it HAS to be operated on, thankfully!

Far Out Fuschia is today's FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution polish :) (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review).  as you might've guessed, this one is a warm, bright pink creme... not blindingly pink, but a nice, saturated summer pink! i went with three coats to get the opacity i was looking for, but you could easily go with two. make sure to add topcoat to make it extra shiny!

three coats Far Out Fuschia, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website www.SallyBeauty.com. the Tie Dye Revolution collection should be available until the end of June 2015!

taking the puppies to the vet tomorrow for shots and a checkup... nothing too exciting. any fun plans for the weekend? Ria :)

FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution... Be Hippy

i'm waiting for Mr. Pawlish to get home now... i hope it's soon because i'm hungry! the dogs and i are hanging out watching Real Housewives... my favorite kind of show :) i know a lot of people aren't fans, but i just can't get enough!

Be Hippy is today's FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution polish! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me to review). it's a warm blue creme that has my favorite formula of the entire collection! it's nice and opaque, and looks absolutely perfect at two coats! it's shiny on its own, and even more delicious with topcoat :)

two coats Be Hippy, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website www.SallyBeauty.com. the Tie Dye Revolution collection should be available until the end of June 2015!

FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution... Yellow Out Man

it's been a gloom and doom day here in Maryland, totally cloudy and rainy. but... that means it was nice and cool for my riding lesson, if a little wet! Echo was super good :)

Yellow Out Man is today's FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution polish! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a warm, yellow creme that's not super bright... it really makes me think of bananas! i used three coats for full opacity, and it dries fairly shiny on its own... but it's even better with topcoat.

three coats Yellow Out Man, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution... Peace, Love & Green

well... i totally made the wrong call this morning! the weather people were saying it was totally miserable and hot and humid outside, and that severe thunderstorms were coming a bit later... so i didn't go to the barn. it's been nice thus far, if a bit hot and humid... bummer! i did really need groceries though, so i did go pick those up. still frustrated i didn't go to the barn.

today kicks off my reviews of the FingerPaints Tie Dye Revolution collection! i have five of the six polishes to share with you all :) we are going to start off with Peace, Love & Green! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a warm, grass green with a jelly finish. i always have trouble picking out which is a jelly finish, but i feel pretty sure this is one... it has that sheer, squishy jelly look! i used three coats to get everything all even, and you can still see your nails through it... which is pretty typical of jellies. i think this would be a great candidate for a jelly sandwich :) definitely use a high shine topcoat to bring out all that squishiness!

three coats Peace, Love & Green, one coat of Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

FingerPaints polishes are sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply and their website www.SallyBeauty.com. the Tie Dye Revolution collection should be available until the end of June 2015!

make sure to check back often to see the rest of the collection! Ria :)
