China Glaze The Great Outdoors... Free Bear Hugs

Mr. Pawlish had the day off today, so he took me to my favorite Japanese restaurant... which just happens to be my favorite Maryland restaurant period! it was delicious, as always. Mr. Pawlish then went to the movies with one of his buddies, and i spent the afternoon at home with the puppies... which i'm always happy to do :)

Free Bear Hugs is today's China Glaze The Great Outdoors polish! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a oxblood creme leaning crelly (creme/jelly)... too close to call on this one! this one can look almost black in some lights, which i love. it's fully opaque in two coats, just be careful to make the coats even. if you don't, you might end up with lighter patches in some places. it's dries quite glossy... and if you add glossy topcoat, it's SO SHINY! :D

two coats Free Bear Hugs, topped off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

as per the press release, 'China Glaze® The Great Outdoors will be available in August 2015 at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply, as well as fine salons.  MSRP $7.50 for individual shades.'

hope everyone's week got off to a fantastic start! Ria :)

China Glaze The Great Outdoors... My Lodge Or Yours?

Mr. Pawlish spent the day with one of his buddies, so i've been chugging away at my Tivo backlog... i've finally finished off all my backed up Housewives and Southern Charm! now i'm working on Blood, Sweat and Heels. i can't believe i didn't watch it while it was on this time (the season is over now), i love it. those girls are just too crazy :D

My Lodge Or Yours? is today's China Glaze The Great Outdoors polish! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's dusty, mauvey, taupe creme... i'm not sure when i got obsessed with taupes, but i'm all in! especially in eyeshadows... oh, man, zero control ;) the formula on this one continues with the excellent formula trend in this collection! for a softer look, one thick coat gives full opacity, two thick coats gives that rich, strong look i love! it's pretty glossy on its own upon dry down, but i like it even more with topcoat.

two coats My Lodge Or Yours?, topped off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

as per the press release, 'China Glaze® The Great Outdoors will be available in August 2015 at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply, as well as fine salons.  MSRP $7.50 for individual shades.'

Happy Friday... WOOHOO for the weekend! Ria :)

China Glaze The Great Outdoors... Sleeping Under The Stars

it was another beautiful day here in Maryland... hope tomorrow is as well! i wish it would just stay like this, not too hot, not too humid... but i'm sure the summer heat will be back soon. it tends to switch back and forth for awhile on the East Coast before the cool weather arrives for good!

today's China Glaze The Great Outdoors polish is Sleeping Under The Stars! (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a dark blurple (blue/purple) shot through with VERY subtle pink shimmers. i was hoping it would be more obvious on the nail, but you do have to hold your nails at the right angle to see it. the shimmers are more visible outside, but i do think it adds to the depth of the polish... it doesn't look like a normal navy creme! the formula... it's awesome. it's easily a one coater, but because i can't control myself, i went ahead and added another one :) it has some shine upon dry down, but i recommend a glossy topcoat to really bring it out!

two coats Sleeping Under The Stars, topped off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

as per the press release, 'China Glaze® The Great Outdoors will be available in August 2015 at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply, as well as fine salons.  MSRP $7.50 for individual shades.'

hope the weather is beautiful where you are! Ria :)

China Glaze The Great Outdoors... S'more Fun

Echo was pretty well behaved this morning... she only tried to kill me a couple times ;) she hates chickens, and some live behind the indoor arena, AND the farrier was working next to the arena as well. it was just too much for her scaredy cat self! i didn't fall off, so today was obviously a win for me :D

i'm SO excited to start sharing the new China Glaze collection, The Great Outdoors, with you all! i *think* this is the one that i've been most excited about since seeing the press release of the year... although, i do tend to get excited about new collections... but this one just looked spectacular. and it didn't disappoint!! several multichromes, a beautiful glitter, and lovely cremes... it's just yummy :)

we'll kick off with S'more Fun, a strongly yellow-toned lime green creme. this sounds so gross but... it's kind of one of those booger colors! for me, this is a nice transition color from summer to fall... still light, but not ultra bright. it does look a bit different in different lighting, sometimes pulling more green and sometimes more yellow. i was hesitant because colors like this don't usually look very good on me, but i have to say this is probably the best one i've tried. (and this collection wins again!!). the other amazing factor is formula. most colors in this vein are sheer and streaky and a general pain to work with... this one is none of those things! two easy peasy coats for full opacity and a shiny finish. to add more shine, i would recommend finishing off with topcoat!

two coats S'more Fun, topped off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (both are press samples).

as per the press release, 'China Glaze® The Great Outdoors will be available in August 2015 at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply, as well as fine salons.  MSRP $7.50 for individual shades.'

the only thing i don't get about this polish is the name... can anyone explain what it has to do with green polish?! Ria :)

Peter Lamas Spa Sensuals Energizing Antioxidant Body Lotion

i was really sick yesterday, so it was pretty awesome to wake up feeling better today :) Mama Pawlish needed to return her license plates to DMV since she got a new car, so that's what we did today! her new car is awesome, it's a Mazda CX-5... that officially makes us an all Mazda household. it's really nice to not worry about the cars flaking out anymore :D

today i have another Peter Lamas product to share with you all! i reviewed a couple of his hand care products earlier this year, check that post out HERE. i was lucky enough to be sent another press sample to try, this time the Energizing Antioxidant Body Lotion!

as you can see from the bottle, it has several claims that i was interested in investigating. i'm happy to report that the only one i didn't experience was skin firming... but i didn't use it regularly enough to really have given it a fair shake. i really love how fast it absorbs into the skin... makes it perfect for moisturizing before taking nail polish swatch pictures, as it has the bonus of not leaving the skin shiny or greasy! it does absorb really fast, which makes it ideal for daytime use. people with dry skin may want a more intense moisturizer for nighttime. my other favorite feature is the scent... Spa Sensuals is actually an apt description! i can't describe it very well, but it smells just like what you'd expect to be used on you at a nice spa treatment.

here are some ingredient factsies that will delight people that are careful with what they put on their bodies... copied straight from the website!

Features and Benefits

  • 100% vegan.
  • Sulfate-free
  • Petrochemical-free
  • Paraben-free
  • Gluten-free

you can find Peter Lamas products at PeterLamas.com. the Spa Sensuals Energizing Antioxidant Body Lotion retails for $24. THIS is a direct link to the product page!

i hope all your weeks have gotten off to a happy start! Ria :)

Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick in Soho Nude

i was supposed to have a jumping lesson today, but it got cancelled :( so, bummer. i'm still trying to catch up on my Tivo backlog... it's just embarrassing at this point! hopefully one day i'll get everything watched... in the meantime, it makes great background for blogging :)

i'm excited to share the new Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick in Soho Nude with you all! i had heard these were coming out and i was bouncing off the walls when i found out they were coming to Ulta. i think i bought Soho Nude within a week of them coming out :D

the name is quite a mouthful, but i think the product stacks up to it. it comes in nice heavy, substantial tube that has a magnetic closure... i love that, just a little bit of extra funsies! the texture of the tube is velvety matte... which means that it grabs onto makeup and fingerprints and makes it easy for the logo to get scratched. those are probably only minor complaints i have of this product! the lipstick itself is quite pointed so you can easily get right up into your cupids bow and has adorable fishnet design stamped into it.

Soho Nude is a light peachy pink that is quite opaque, which i LOVE in a lip product. it goes on smoothly and has a creamy finish... no sparkles and not a huge amount of shine. i think it would be classified as a satin :) since i'm so fair, this lipstick looks a bit darker on me than it would on most people!

you can find Laura Geller at many stores... i generally buy from Ulta, Ulta.com, LauraGeller.com, and QVC.com. if you catch Laura Geller on HauteLook.com you can get some amazing steals!

have you tried the Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipsticks yet?? what did you think? i think i'm definitely going to need more colors :D

congratulations, you've made it halfway through the week! Ria :)

it was SO humid here today! both Echo and i were drenched after i rode her this morning... so when i got this press release for the Fall 2015 China Glaze collection, The Great Outdoors, i was super excited! these colors just look so cool toned and hearken to the cooler months :) this collection has duochromes! can't wait to see it in person... hope you enjoy this peek at the collection! Ria :)

Butter London Trallop

today was crazy! had lunch with Mr. Pawlish's father and family, then Mr. Pawlish went off with them to visit other relatives. i decided to just come home with Mama Pawlish... and thankfully we did! there was an emergency gas technician at our house, turns out the lawn care people clipped our gas line and there was gas escaping. i'm so thankful to God that it was found quickly and, you know, the house didn't blow up. yikes.

Butter London Trallop is today's polish! i bought this hoping it would give me mannequin hands, but on my ultra fair skin it just works as a warm neutral nude. this is one of those nice, work appropriate polishes that makes your nails look nice, but doesn't scream out that you're wearing polish. it's a warm beige creme that applies nicely, two easy coats for full opacity! it dries shiny on its own, but like always i need a topcoat to help it dry.

two coats Trallop,  one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (the Salon Perfect topcoat is a press sample).

Happy Friday!! Ria :)

Onyx Professional Glitter & Nail Art Nail Jar Polish Remover

rode Princess Echo this morning... she was pretty good! only one fairly minor spook attack, which is basically a win. after that i took Mama Pawlish to lunch at Pizza Hut... i LOVE Pizza Hut! would you believe that's where i had my Rehearsal Dinner? it's true :D

i've been on the hunt for an alternative to Cutex Twister With SPA Formula (press sample) as i haven't been able to find it in store :( you can buy it from their website, but then you have to pay shipping, which really drives the price up. it appears that you can buy it at Target, but the website says that store inventory is temporarily unavailable... my guess is that you can't get it in store any more.

i found Onyx Professional Glitter & Nail Art Jar nail polish remover and wanted to try as it as a possible dupe/alternative to Cutex Twister! i saw this product at Five Below, and for $4 figured it was worth a shot.

here's what the jar looks like!

the Glitter & Nail Art Jar differs from the Cutex Twister in that it only has a brush on the inside, as opposed to the Twister's brush and sponge combo.

Glitter & Nail Art Jar polish remover has a vanilla cupcake scent... i was concerned because i'm pretty sensitive to smells, but thankfully it's not too strong and doesn't linger.

i found Glitter & Nail Art to be fairly comparable to Cutex Twister. it removes glitter polish much more easily than traditional scrubbing... i think it works best to stick one finger in the brush, then twist the jar itself while pressing your nail into the brush. it does work for regular polish, but i do prefer sponges. i think i might buy another Onyx Jar that has just the sponge... i like sponges for basic polish because they aren't scratchy like the brush... but you definitely need the brush for glitter!

check out other Onyx Professional products at www.onyxbrands.com. according to their site, you can find the Glitter & Nail Art Jar at Five Below, Walmart, and ineedbeauty.com. it's $4 at Five Below where i purchased it!

have you guys tried either of these? which did you prefer? i think i still prefer the Cutex Twister... but the Glitter & Nail Art Jar is a fantastic, readily available alternative! Ria :)

Deborah Lippmann Flash Dance

had a jump lesson this afternoon and it went really well! Echo was good for the most part, and when she decided she didn't care to jump a certain jump... i forced her over it. that is some major equestrian winning :D

today i have Deborah Lippmann Flash Dance to share! i found this one at TJ Maxx awhile ago... i only buy discounted Deborah Lippmann as it retails for $20 a bottle (ouch!). that said, her polishes are extremely high quality and easy to apply. Flash Dance is a purple microglitter and larger orange glitters, suspended in a plummy purple base. it's a sheer base, but using thick coats i got pretty good coverage at two coats and full coverage at three. it dries down pretty dull so i highly recommend topcoat. i used two coats of topcoat to get it ultra shiny... the polish sucked up the first layer but stayed pretty shiny after two!

three coats of Flash Dance, two coats Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (the Salon Perfect topcoat is a press sample).

all those glitters are SO sparkly in person! still photos never capture just how gorgeous glitters are. check out more from Deborah Lippmann at deborahlippmann.com!

hope you are all having outstanding weeks! Ria :)

Pixi July 2015 Makeup Samples Swatches & Reviews!

i'm going a little crazy because i just finished book two in a trilogy... and i've ordered the third one but it hasn't come yet! i need to knowww! i've always been a voracious reader that reads multiple books at once, but even though i've got others going... i desperately want to know how this story is going to end. it's 'The East Salem Trilogy' by Lis Wiehl if you're interested :)

today we get to delve into the Pixi July 2015 sample beauty box for bloggers! (it's comprised of press samples, kindly provided to me for review). i know we're five days into August... but last month was just crazy for me. better late than never :D

the box this month contained some new to me products and a few i've been using for years! the Eye Bright Liner in Nude ($12) and the Tinted Brilliance Balm in Lucent Glow ($14) are the two i'd already purchased on my own years ago! i actually used my open ones for the swatches :D i've been using the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pens ($12) even longer than the aforementioned, but i didn't have one in Bronze Beam! i was super excited because i thought i had all the colors already. the Quick Fix Powder in Translucid ($20) is the one product i didn't have any previous experience with, although i've picked it up and considered purchasing it Target a few times! (i went their pressed powder instead).

here's the box!

and the products themselves :)

and now, the swatches!

Eye Bright Liner in Nude ($12) is a twist up pencil in a light peachy pink shade. it's made to use on your waterline (the lower inner rim of your eye) to make your eyes look more open and brighten up your face in general! i love this product, a couple years ago i purchased both the Nude and the Extra Eye Bright Liner in Extra Bright... i find myself reaching more for the regular Nude as it's a more natural look :)

Endless Silky Eye Pen in Bronze Beam ($12) just as wonderful as all the other colors in this line! Bronze Beam is a gorgeous metallic brown. these pencils are wooden and you sharpen them to get more product. it's super creamy and pigmented, glides on, and once it sets, it's not going anywhere! my only sadness with these pencils is i can't use them on my waterline because they tend to get on my contacts :( however, they work great under the lashes and don't streak down onto your under eye as the day (or night!) goes on.

Tinted Brilliance Balm in Lucent Glow is one i've had for years... i bought it myself, and i've also been sent it before :) it's an almost clear lip in a twist up crayon form. what makes this color special is the pink sparkles! not super glittery, just enough to make your lips glisten. this product smells just like tea... i'm not sure why, but if you are sensitive to smells, make sure to give it a whiff before you purchase!

and now, the last product :D

Pixi Quick Fix Powder in Translucid ($20) is a loose, finely milled white setting powder. i keep thinking it's called Translucent, but it's actually Translucid. it comes in a little jar that has a poof on top which you simply tap on your skin and the powder comes out, then you can use the poof to buff it in! the lid has a mirror on it, so it's ready to just throw in your bag and go. i had no trouble getting the powder to come out, which i have had in the past with a similar product. it started coming out as soon as i tapped it! it's super easy to use... this is definitely the only way i would use a loose powder, because it takes the mess away! i don't think it makes me completely matte, but it does tamp down on the shine... try taking pictures in it before a day where you'll want to take a lot of photos, as on me it does seem to flashback a bit!

here's me, wearing all the products! i extended my eyeliner extra far out so that you could really see it :) pardon the mess behind me!

you can find Pixi products at Target stores, www.Target.com, and www.PixiBeauty.com!!

which of these products are your favorite? i have to go with the Endless Silky Eye Pen in Bronze Beam... these eyeliners are just amazing! Ria :)

Anniversary Nails with Orly Deja Vu!

yesterday Mr. Pawlish and i celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary! i can't believe it... time just slips by so fast. we had lunch at my fave Japanese restaurant, then spent the rest of the day hanging out at home... a pretty perfect day! <3

i decided to do some chevron french tips (as usual...i just love chevrons!) using Orly Deja Vu as the base color. it's a sheer peachy pink with a slight blue flash to it... it's so pretty. Deja Vu is part of Orly's French Manicure line... so i guess that is one reason it makes the perfect French base! i used two coats of Deja Vu and created the chevron with Salon Perfect Sugar Cube (press sample). i topped with topcoat, then added another coat of Deja Vu and placed a blue rhinestone at the center of the V in the way polish. i finished everything off with two coats of topcoat to make sure that rhinestone was really stuck down!

three total coats of Orly Deja Vu, two coats at the tips Salon Perfect Sugar Cube, two coats Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. (the Salon Perfect polishes are press samples).

as you can see you my ringfinger, if you're not careful when applying Deja Vu over white you can get yellowish patches. next time i use Deja Vu i will just leave the white alone and not go over it, i prefer the stark white look rather than the muted look you get with layering.

hope you are all having a great week! the next post will be on my Pixi blogger sample box from last month... a bit late, but better late than never! Ria :)
