China Glaze House of Colour... Let's Chalk About It

spent today working hard swatching... i always underestimate just how long it's going to take! i feel like i got a lot done, so i'm really happy. tomorrow Mr. Pawlish has his promotion ceremony! i'm so very proud of him :)

today's China Glaze House of Colour polish is Let's Chalk About It (a press sample, kindly provided to me for review)! it's an ULTRA light pink creme... so much so that it can almost be described as a pink-toned white. i LOVE colors like this... and it's super yummy on the nails! i was worried about the formula as light polishes can be tricky. despite patchiness on the first coat, all was fixed with coat two and total opacity reached. it dries shiny on its own, but i recommend topcoat to help dry it and make sure everything is completely even... hard to get away with a flaw in the mani with a color like this!

two coats Let's Chalk About It, finished off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat.

you can find the China Glaze House of Colour collection in Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply... make sure to check out China Glaze on their website, www.ChinaGlaze.com!

i've started trying to take all my swatch pictures in natural sunlight with my cell phone... i think i'm getting much more color accurate photos! Ria :)

China Glaze House of Colour... Don't Be Shallow

today is my 30th birthday! can't believe three decades have gone by so quickly... i know everyone says that, but man, it's true. it seems like my twenties have passed by the fastest thus far, i wish i could just grab a hold of time and slow it down! had a lovely day today starting with church, then lunch with friends, then a trip to Ulta... no birthday is complete without Ulta :D

Don't Be Shallow is today's China Glaze House of Colour polish (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review)! it's a beautiful light blue creme that leans a bit periwinkle... depending on the light, it's a bit more bright or a bit more dusty, pulling it to the blue side or slightly purpley side. the color can't be faulted... the formula breaks my heart. for some reason it wants to pool towards the sides, leaving a place in the middle that's very patchy. thin coats are a must... but even so, the it's hard to work with, and the pooling still occurs. i needed three coats to get it mostly even, at that point a good topcoat took care the rest. be very careful and give this one extra dry time... even though i used quick dry topcoat, it took a REALLY long time to dry. it dries ultra shiny on its own... but i feel like it would never dry that way... so topcoat it is!

three coats Don't Be Shallow, finished off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat.

China Glaze House of Colour... About Layin' Out

had a lovely wander today around the field with Echo... we haven't been able to ride anywhere but the driveway and the indoor in so long because it was way too slippery in the pastures! tomorrow i've got a dressage lesson... we're really coming along with our flat work, i'm so proud of her :D

today's China Glaze House of Colour polish is About Layin' Out (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review)! it's a warm pink-toned coral creme... really pretty! the formula is a little tricky with this one, it's thick and doesn't dry much, so err on the side of too thin coats. i only needed two coats to get it fully opaque... but i had to redo it from my first try because it was way too thick! it dries quite glossy on its own... but because of the thickness and drying issues, i highly recommend using topcoat.

two coats About Layin' Out, finished off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat.

China Glaze House of Colour... Girls Just Wanna Have Sun

had a totally epic, breakthrough ride on Echo today. after working really hard with her, she finally accepted that i was the boss, and went along perfectly. i can't even describe how happy i am with her, myself, and our partnership <3

today's China Glaze House of Colour polish is Girls Just Wanna Have Sun (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's an interesting color, i don't think i have anything exactly like it! Girls Just Wanna Have Sun is an ultra light strongly yellow-toned cream color in a creme finish. a bit lighter than vanilla pudding! application is a little difficult as many yellows are. it's quite patchy on the first coat, but working with in the second coat helps out a lot, and it is fully opaque in two coats. definitely use topcoat as that will help even out any lingering patchiness!

two coats Girls Just Wanna Have Sun, finished off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat.

China Glaze House of Colour... In The Near Fuchsia

spent the whole day dealing with a messed up prescription... what a bummer! it's still not completely fixed, but it's good enough to last until my next appointment. craziness. i'm hoping for a super beautiful day tomorrow since it's my last day this week to ride Echo :)

today starts up China Glaze House of Colour collection reviews! i saw these in Ulta and was immediately drooling over them :) we're kicking off with In The Near Fuchsia (it's a press sample, kindly provided to me for review). it's a yummy, pigmented warm pink with a hint of purple undertone. the finish is pretty crelly... but i think it leans a bit more to the creme side. i was worried it would be sheer when i first started applying it, but no worries! two coats and it's completely opaque AND dries down to a high gloss! i still add topcoat to help it dry and increase longevity... working with horses is tough on the nails :D

two coats In The Near Fuchsia, finished off with one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat.

Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirants (Influenster Target Dry Spray VoxBox)

the windchill here today was in the low teens Fahrenheit... so i totally did not leave the house! it was actually around 28F... but i wasn't about to go anywhere with wind that brutal. just watching it from my house was enough :)

today i have the Influenster Target Dry Spray VoxBox to share! i got selected to participate in this Influenster campaign, and both products shown were sent to me to review. i was absolutely delighted to get the Dove Dry Spray antiperspirants as there were a few other brand options i could have received. one was the Degree Dry Spray Anti-perspirant that i reviewed HERE yesterday! i was sent Dove Dry Spray in Cool Essentials (for women) and Dove Men+Care Dry Spray in Extra Fresh. i love that this campaign had something for Mr. Pawlish to try as well!

i'll start off with mine, the Dove Dry Spray in Cool Essentials! i have actually already been using this product in different scents since it came out... so for quite some time now. i am in love with it! it's so easy, you just spray it on and you're done. it does not moisturize as well as the Dove Advanced Care Deodorant (check out the review HERE) which is in stick form, but far better than the Degree dry spray from yesterday. it helps keep my armpits dry, and most importantly, not ever stinky! i can't use the Degree product due to my asthma, but happily i can use the Dove with little problems... just have to make sure not to take a big sniff as i'm spraying it on. my only complaint is that it doesn't dry instantly on me... not sure if i hold it too close or spray too much... at any rate, i can't get it to instant dry on me. they do dry completely though! all the scents this product comes in are nice, i've tried them all :) Cool Essentials is not super cucumbery smelling, more just fresh and cool... which i appreciate because i'm not a big cucumber fan!

Mr. Pawlish has been using the Dove Men+Care Dry Spray in Extra Fresh :D he LOVES it! i was shocked that he is such a big fan... he plans to only buy this product (maybe in different scents?) after he uses all the deodorants he has already bought. the scent is a bit stronger in this one, my asthma doesn't tolerate the combo of the fragrance and aerosol as well as it does the women's version. it doesn't bother Mr. Pawlish at all, though. he says this product even keeps his armpits drier than other products he has tried... PLUS, it dries instantly on him!

you should be able to find these products where ever Dove antiperspirant products are sold :) i usually buy mine from either Target or a military/dependant only store. Target has the best scent selection for sure!

have you guys tried any of these new dry spray antiperspirants? what do you think?

stay warm and safe, where ever you are <3 Ria :)

Degree Dry Spray Anti-perspirant in Sexy Intrigue

it was quite cold today... but it's supposed to be super cold tomorrow! i had my dressage lesson today and it was pretty awesome... Echo and i are really learning how to work together :) weather people are calling for some kind of cold snap, 20sF tomorrow with a wind chill of teens! noooo, thank you. i can take cold, but not wind :P

today i have an anti-perspirant to share! it's Degree Dry Spray in Sexy Intrigue... i have been so excited about the return of spray anti-perspirant, it's just so much easier and keeps your clothes cleaner than traditional types of anti-perspirant.

i LOVE the scent of Sexy Intrigue, i have used it in the past in the stick form. it's a nice musky, warm perfume... not too heavy, so it doesn't interfere if you want to wear another fragrance. so easy to use, just shake it up and press the button. one of the best things about it is that it dries right away, unlike some other brands of spray anti-perspirant i've tried. it also really helps control my sweating... i'm (sadly) a very sweaty human! with this, not nearly as much moisture break through and definitely keeps the stink away. this could be due to their 'motionsense' technology... not sure how it works, but it definitely does in this product. the only bad thing is that with the aerosol, but the deodorant scent and the aerosol scent are quite strong... overpowering almost. it kicks off my asthma and i immediately start coughing :( i tried it for about a week, but after it happened every time, i had to accept that this product just isn't for me. i gave it to Mama Pawlish... and she also felt the scent made her throat uncomfortable, and she doesn't have asthma. i do recommend trying this baby out to see if the scent bothers you... but make sure to buy it from somewhere you can return it to if it doesn't work for you.

i believe i bought this product at Target... but it should stocked where Degree products are sold.

tomorrow... another anti-perspirant review, this one including Mr. Pawlish as i was sent the male and female versions in an Influenster VoxBox!

hope your week is wonderful... either way, you're halfway through! Ria :)

Butter London Plush Rush Lipstick in Free

i was supposed to have a dressage lesson today, but it was really snowing this morning... and now, NOTHING! oh, well... i'm having it tomorrow instead, so it's not a big deal :) glad i picked tomorrow instead of Thursday... it's supposed to brutally cold and windy. wind is the worst!

i'm excited to review Butter London Plush Rush Lipstick in Free today! Plush Rush is Butter London's new line of lip products which includes lipstick, lipliner and lipgloss. i'm pretty bummed because it looks like this new line is replacing their Lippy Tinted Balms, which i LOVE. glad i have the ones i want already!

after checking everything out at Ulta, i decided on giving the lipsticks a go before trying anything else :) the packaging is SO cute!!

i decided on Free; which is a warm, pale pink, peachy beige-toned nude cream (so many adjectives, sorry!). it's definitely not matte, but it's not ultra shiny either. a bit shinier than a satin, is how i'd describe it. the tube is so trick... it's shiny black and has a magnetic closure! magnetic closures are the way to my heart, they're just so sleek and somehow even sexy!

it's a touch darker than it looks on my lips... it just flat refused to photograph correctly! the hand swatch is pretty close, though :)

i was majorly concerned that this was going to be one of those lip products that burns your lips off, as this line claims to plump your lips. thankfully, it just has a slight minty tingle when you first put it on, but it stops completely within ten to twenty minutes. it's does not sting like some i've tried... i can't stand those ones with things like cinnamon in them that make your lips feel like they are being burned off!

the formula is creamy and a bit thick, and stays on fairly well, even through my nervous habit of rubbing my lips together! you will definitely need to reapply after eating, though. even without liner, i didn't have problems with it going outside my lip line :)

here are the claims Butter London makes about these lipsticks!

Why It's Brill - Features & Benefits:
- 100% of women experienced an immediate increase in lip fullness.
- 34% of women saw an increase in lip moisture over time.
- No Feathering/Bleeding
- Formulated with a Plumping Complex moisturizes lips and makes them firmer, smoother, and more defined.
- Formulated with a Phyto-Endorphin Complex to boost your mood.

the most interesting claim is that these lipsticks will boost your mood through their Phyto-Endorphin Complex... i have to say, i really haven't noticed a difference.

you can find these babies at ButterLondon.com and any other Butter London retailers should have them... as usual, i bought mine from Ulta. the lipsticks retail for $22.

coming up next is a couple deodorant reviews... not as exciting as makeup and polish, but arguably way more important :D

Happy Tuesday! Ria :)

OPI Is This Star Taken?

whew... i'm FINALLY home! i feel like i've been gone forever... but somehow it was only a week. i'm SO proud of Brother Pawlish, he successfully graduated from boot camp and is now on to his training in his actual job he will be doing for the Army. it was pretty awesome to see how much he'd transformed into a 'real' grownup, soldier. i could not be more proud of him!

i have the new collections from China Glaze and FingerPaints that will be coming up in the next few weeks... but today i have an OPI to share! it's Is This Star Taken?, which i found on clearance at Ulta :D i have to say, this one is amazing in the bottle, you can really see all the gorgeous holographic bar glitter. however... it falls short on the nail in my opinion. it's a silver shimmer that doesn't quite make it to chrome. what really bums me out is that the glitter pieces aren't jumping off the nail! i guess it's because they are a silver holographic on a silver base... it's not terrible, it's just not what i was hoping for. guess i just wanted it to be more dramatic! it goes on easy and is opaque in two coats... the slight sheer spots you can find in the swatch photo are not visible in person. definitely seal it off with topcoat, don't want any of those bar glitters popping up :)

two coats Is This Star Taken?, one coat Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat.

hope you are all having fantastic weekends!! Ria :)
